Non-free image use

edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Iran national football team, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Marchjuly (talk) 22:20, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Iran team badge is licensed asnon-free content which means that each use of it must satisfy Wikipedia’s non-free content use policy. The file’s non-free use was previously discussed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 February 17#File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran.png and the consensus was that the file shouldn’t be used in the individual team articles. If you have any questions about the close or think it should be reconsidered, discuss things with the closing admin per WP:CLOSECHALLENGE. This is the best way to pursue things since ignoring relevant policy and continuing to re-add the file will eventually be seen as editing waring and dusruptive.
Also, just for future reference, WP:OTHERIMAGE is never considered an acceptable justification for adding a non-free image to any article. If you add such an image which is then subsequently removed by another editor, the best thing to do is to check the article’s edit history to look for an edit sum explaining why the file was removed and whether it has been removed before. If you find an edit sum you don’t understand, then the best thing to do is ask for clarification. — Marchjuly (talk) 22:37, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
As explained above, you need to follow process here and discuss things with the administrator who closed the FFD discussion about this file's non-free use. If you continue to fail to do this and simply re-add the file to the article, it will be removed per item 5 of WP:NOT3RR and an administrator will be asked to intervene and take steps to prevent any further disruption and edit warring. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:24, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
For reference, the administrator who closed the discussion is Graeme Bartlett and the file was first removed by Graeme with this April 2016 edit. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:39, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Iran at the 2018 Asian Games, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pawan Kumar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Updating caps and stats

edit

Hello, I'm Robby.is.on. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Robby.is.on (talk) 09:40, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
