Ta!!

For reverting the edit on my talk page. Funnily enough, no I don't want to support terrorists! --5 albert square (talk) 23:37, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Definitely! There's a whole thread somewhere (might be in the archives now) about whisky preferences! I certainly don't mind a pint of real ale, but "real ale drinker" is less memorable and catchy! ;) Whisky drinker | HJ's sock 20:43, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald

I thought all those edits about the slides were vandalism, too, and I reverted a couple. Then I found an episode on You Tube, and Ron and Sundae did go down a slide, so I am thinking maybe it wasn't vandalism after all. In the video it did look like going down a specific slide might be a feature. I can't really tell if the edits were vandalism or not -- I'm not familiar with the series. Anyway, I had enough doubt that I reverted my own reversions. Do you know for sure that the edits were garbage? Thanks. --Susfele (talk) 00:47, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I've no idea- I'm using Igloo, which just pulls up diff after diff and tells me which ones are likely to be vandalism. I don;t pay too much attention to the article or the editor, just to the text that was changed. It looked like crap to me and Igloo warned me it was "probable vandalism" as I recall, so I reverted. As far as I'm concerned, if you think it's worth including, then by all mean restore whichever version is best and possibly drop the editor a note. :) Whisky drinker | HJ's sock 00:57, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to intrude but the article is still tagged as a stub, to me it seems to be a proper article just without the relevant sources. I didn't remove the tag since I don't deal with many stubs. Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 01:09, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, anyway, on further investigation, it looks more like vandalism to me. Found a review about a different episode that made me think they always go down the same slide. Thanks. Susfele (talk) 01:46, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey, just wanted you to know that this new user was trying to clear the page per a deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scott L Efflandt). Though he didn't do it the right way, a different sort of warning may be more suitable in such cases. Sadads (talk) 14:55, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I'd agree with you, were it not that the same user had also created another new page of the same sort and vandalised three other pages. Taking into account his history -- which you have not -- the csd tag is IMO quite justified.Jimmy Pitt talk 15:05, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Diana/tfchen

Hello HJ Mitchell,

Im very new to wikipedia and I'm really just trying to understand how everything really works, it was not my intetion to vandalize Diana's page. I was really just trying to create a page link, I didnt think that it would cuase such a stir. Either way, would you mind giving me some advice on what I should and should not do to make my page better? I've been editing constantly to make it seem less biased, but nothing seems to work. Thank you, and again it was not my intetion to vandalize. PLEASE HELP!

Could you unblock User:Diego Grez Bot please? It kinda gives a bad impression when people goes to give it bot flag on other wikis. Of course I'm not going to edit with it here ;) Thanks. Diego Grez ¿qui pa'? 00:19, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Well I have to ask what the point is if it's not going to edit here. Surely you can just explain it on other wikis? It works on en.Wikinews doens't it? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:38, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Don't want to get the common question I got last time, "Why is it blocked on en.wiki?". Diego Grez ¿qui pa'? 18:08, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
This seems like an uncontroversial request as long as it doesn't edit without approval (it was blocked at his request). I had a similar issue where there was an it:user:Xenobot that was indefinite blocked (wasn't me though). –xenotalk 18:34, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I'd concur- as long as Diego fully agrees that if it edits outside of his user space (without BAG approval), it'll be blocked instantly, I don't see the controversy. Courcelles (talk) 18:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Another new section (who cares what the subject is?)

Hi again, I finally got around to reading your entire user page, and I noticed an error (or at least it hasn't been updated in a while). In the text, it says you have 5 GAs, 6 DYKs, 1 DYK nom, and 15 ITNs (and one spelling error which I fixed). However, according to the icons at the top, you have 1 FA, 5 GAs (which matches), 8 DYKs, 12 DYK noms, and 22 ITNs. Thanks, dffgd [messages·edits] 18:29, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

That's interesting. It looks better like that, though- will it sort itself out as I add more images to it? As for the barnstars, the offer's appreciated, but I like mine where they are, even if it is a little untidy! My userpage was never supposed to be anything fancy! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:31, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, the pictures will stay in three rows and when you add images to the section, they will just go at the bottom. All you would have to do is put the image inside the template as it is now. Let me know and I can help there if you choose to keep it that way. No worries on the barnstars, another Wikipedia friend had that version on their page and I stole borrowed it from them. If you ever change your mind, let me know and I will be glad to set it up. Oh, one final thing. The userbox you requested has been edited. The image is at 100px from 60px and looks much better. The link is still at User:Neutralhomer/Userboxes/Banhammer. :) Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk19:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

IP Vandal

Hi HJ, could you disable talk page access for User:70.27.72.19, who has now resorted to childishly vandalizing his/her talk page after being blocked? I guess I'm not too popular amongst the vandals. I assume this may be the AOL IP hopping vandal (who has maybe now switched to Bell) I encountered a couple months ago (from which over 20 pages were semi'd for a year), I may raise something at ANI regarding this again. Thanks. Connormah (talk | contribs) 03:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Free licensed stuff

You said here that the source for the scripts (aka Rollback) was available somewhere without copyright. Where could I find these scripts? I'd like to make it so possibly there would be a way to create a way for IPs to get the scripts. Mr. R00t Talk 03:55, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Oh- and thanks for the barnstar. Mr. R00t Talk 04:21, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't know about rollback- I think that's integrated into to the system, but then, the whole of MediaWiki is freely licensed. The code for all the user scripts, though, is on their relevant pages but it just looks like gibberish to me! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:12, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm actually usually pretty good at translating that "gibberish" and changing it to function in a different usable fashion. Where are some of these scripts? I'd like to bang my head against them for a while and see if I can make any headway or adapt them to my needs. Mr. R00t Talk 14:38, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Well I have a load of scripts (all stolen- I didn't write any of them). Have a look in here. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I've got some too. Possibly more than you? Most of which are stolen from you might I mention... Plenty that are utterly useless if you're not an admin... :( Though it's kinda cool to see how admins see things. Mr. R00t Talk 17:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I've got plenty more enabled in my preferences and Twinkle gives you about a million extra buttons if you have the admin bit!I just had a vandal insult me in an article, so I logged out, logged into this account and blocked them. It looks like DISPLAYTITLE only lets you change the style, not modify the actual title, so you have to "hide" the User: part or it'll reject it. Otherwise it's a simple matter of adding style information. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 17:47, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

WQA

Not sure if you noticed, but what appears to be a new user posted on WQA regarding a warning that was left by the Whiskey Drinker account that I believe is yours.--Cube lurker (talk) 17:48, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Just a poke to let you know I left a comment there about the situation from a 3rd party viewpoint. From my point of view, this could all be resolved and calmed with a simple friendly apology, thus the WQA thread doesn't need to linger on. Hope this helps, do remember that as a new user the warning would have bewildered them regardless of it vanishing shortly afterwards. --Taelus (Talk) 20:06, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Well I have to say I've never got to a message on my talk page within 9 seconds, but I'm just in a bad mood! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:10, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
There is always the odd chance... But I suspect the reason the new user is alarmed is because they think they are stuck with a "LEVEL THREE WARNING" message in their page history forever, due to the way that automated tools leave such edit summaries. Better to be safe than sorry really :) --Taelus (Talk) 20:13, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I could always delete the edit summary, it could fall into a broad reading of RD3, but I don't want to appear to be covering up my own mistake. What do you think? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Genuine mistaken warnings are not supposed to be RevDel-ed. Really. It doesn't matter at all. ╟─TreasuryTaghigh seas─╢ 20:20, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
No, that wouldn't really be acceptable, it's not under any of the RDs, that wasn't what I meant. :) I mean, just explain to the user that it was a mistake, apologise for it, reassure them it won't be held against them. I can only assume that would account for whatever worries they have. If your edit summary clearly states the level3 was a mistake, perhaps that too will serve to reassure them. --Taelus (Talk) 20:22, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Marked it as resolved, as no more can be done as you have apologised, and Xeno added a note in the page history to make clear it was a mistake. :) --Taelus (Talk) 21:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

User:HJ Mitchell/Recognised

Ahh... Well as you requested with your editsummary I'm not going to hit you or {{facepalm}} you. I moved that feature'd article to the other area because you said this (or something like it) in one of your editsummaries:

I want that shiny bronze star first!

. After all; it's your userspace so you should be the one that decides what order they go in. Mr. R00t Talk 20:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Well I decided I quite like having the ITNs on one line and everything else on another and felt like tinkering with it! I really should spend some more time in the mainspace and earn myself another bronze star. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking about actually starting to write articles. I think I'm a type of creature called a WikiGnome that only live in habitats such as Wikipedia. :) Unfortunately they have a special aversion to following the policy often short-handed as WP:BOLD. I tend to dislike writing articles as I always assume they'll be deleted on sight. I don't know why I have this idea but.... whatever.
I'm thinking about trying to do something and I'd like you to tell me how ridiculous it sounds to you. I am thinking about creating a script or template that would work to identify visitors skins, Vector, MonoBook, etc., and than choose what to display based on that. Basically it would be a way that we could make it so that people using MonoBook saw the same thing as people using Vector when looking at the flag on your userpage. I've come across other instances of this problem and would like to solve it. Mr. R00t Talk 20:45, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It's actually is possible as the stuff to identify your skin already exists. It changes the HTML for the page to (when you're using MonoBook): <body class="mediawiki ltr ns-2 ns-subject page-User_HJ_Mitchell skin-monobook">
(edit conflict) Yeah I know, I had a gigantic paragraph that I was writing about the differences. :( Oh well. Would you be willing to help me out with writing this thing? Mr. R00t Talk 21:02, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict × several) You've already earned yourself another star—but not that kind! Keep up the vandalism patrolling! dffgd [messages·edits] 01:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Level 3 warning in error

You gave me a Level 3 Vandal Warning in error, and I would like you to remove the warning from the edit summary or my talk page. I do not know why you were monitoring my talk page, and I do not know why you thought that I was was vandalizing my own talk page by putting a "smiley" on it, and I do not know why you gave me a Level 3 Vandal Warning for editing my own talk page; but I do not want to suffer with the stigma of being falsely labeled as a vandal. Can you, or someone else, please remove your edit summary (made by "Whiskey drinker"), that labels me a vandal, from the edit summary history of my talk page? Fages (talk) 20:51, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Allow me to shed a little light on it. I use a script called Igloo that allows me to very rapidly scan through recent changes, so I wasn't monitoring your page. Igloo also allows me to very rapidly revert what appear to be bad edits. In this instance, I reverted your edit in error- I made a mistake there, for which I apologise. The warning was also issued by Igloo- once I've reverted the edit, I have no way to stop it from doing that, it's automatic. I'd never actually visited your talk page until you cam to my attention at WQA- I'm not stalking you. Finally, I have the technical ability to remove the edit summary, but I'm not allowed to because that ability can only be used in exceptional circumstances. However, I can make a dummy edit to your talk page, asserting in the edit summary that the previous warning was mistaken. I bear you no ill will- I'd never heard of you until an hour or so ago. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:04, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It seems HJ that Xeno already did that. Mr. R00t Talk 21:06, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I suggest that in the future that Whiskey drinker (aka HJ Mitchell) should "scan through recent changes" in a less rapid fashion. I do not appreciate the way my talk page history has been stigmatized by your haphazard use of "Igloo". :-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fages (talkcontribs) 21:10, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It's difficult sometimes. A lot of the time when I use Igloo I often accidentally hit the button to rollback as it is rather (in)conveniently placed above one's left little finger. Mr. R00t Talk 21:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Igloo is a semi automated anti-vandalism/recent changes patrol script. It lets you quickly scan through diffs and revert the edit if it's vandalism. I believe it's similar to Huggle, but I've never used Huggle. Igloo's good, though- give it a try- all you have to do is copy some code from WP:IGLOO into your js page. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:44, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
So you're using it to keep "GLOO" edits separate from the admin stuff? And you need to try Killer aka Huggle. N419BH 14:49, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure why, but I prefer to do it from a separate account. If someone's making such a nuisance of themselves that I can't wait for AIV or if AIV is backlogged, I can always just log in and give the banhammer some exercise from this account! The only reservation I have with Huggle is that I don't like the idea of downloading stuff, whereas Igloo is dead simple and, if I were so inclined, I could log in from any computer to do a bit of vandal whacking. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:54, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Tried igloo, but I'm guessing by "remote server" they mean IRC. The internet I currently have access to has all IRC items firewalled, along with half of everything else (web translators, proxies, adult sites, hell, even FAILblog is blocked as "Adult Content"). So I'll have to try it when my summer job is over. Until then, Huggle and Lupin. Huggle's got a backup function that works without IRC. N419BH 15:03, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Igloo doesn't access IRC. It accesses iglooNet, a server that manages the blacklist and whitelist. ~NerdyScienceDude () 17:18, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

User:HJ_Mitchell/Recognised (Part 2)

Hey HJ, I was wondering how you liked this new configuration for the User:HJ_Mitchell/Recognised. I changed it so they were in equal rows. I'd put it here but that messes you talk page up. Mr. R00t Talk 17:08, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

That was hideous! Have I broken anything with the current version? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks good HJ. Nothing has changed with the 3 row change. - NeutralhomerTalk18:45, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I reckon you should just use something like User:TonyTheTiger's configuration it looks a lot more organised and since you're never going to stop contributing to articles you might as well plan ahead. That's just my 2 cents. Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 00:49, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Charles Mackerras

I've been updating the article and adding refs just incase it receives enough support at ITN/C. I was thinking of moving the information on his death up to an "Early and personal life" section, what do you think? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 18:50, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Personally, I'd be inclined to move it into a "death" section. Or perhaps move a bigger chunk and call it "later life and death". Btw, have you been watching The Silence? That article is in a right state, but I reckon there might be enough material on it to make a respectable article. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:00, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I seperated the info into a "Death" section. I haven't seen The Silence, but I can catch up with it. I saw some ratings info for it earlier. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 19:24, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I've replied to your question. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 20:49, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
He's getting a few opposes, which is a shame. I'm sure he meets point B on the death criteria list. Anyway, on the City Opera of Vancouver website they mention that two weeks ago Mackerras and his wife moved to a care home and he was battling a blood cancer. He was being treated with thalidomide and two years ago it began losing its effect. Do you think it can be used? Mackerras was the music advisor to the company. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:49, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Well BLP doesn't apply any more, so we need absolutely rigorous sourcing, but in my experience, that kind of link is likely to die relatively quickly, so 'twould be good if you could find it in a news article- some of the ones I posted on ITN/C looked quite detailed. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:54, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I've had a look at the articles you mentioned and a few others, but can't that info anywhere else. I've archived the Vancouver link just in case. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar

Although I still need to do some work with a GAN before someone notices that it was nominated a few weeks ago and decides to review it. And, I just bought this book about architects today and already added three pages to my endless to-do list (I only got past the "C" names). Being an admin is hard D: And now I'm being tempted to close more XfDs (I wasn't even planning to do that) :((. And I'll be gone all next week. And then I have writing on Wikinews (I've been suggested toward RfA there after a bit more time), their ArbCom elections at the end of the month.... I don't get how you do everything you do--RFPERM, AIV, AN, ITN--the list goes on and on! My content goals will never get done :( Sorry for bringing all my woes to your talk page, but thanks again for the barnstar! fetch·comms 23:00, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome, and don't worry about bringing your woes here, I'm always happy to listen! :) My content work has suffered since I got the bit and I've been pretty much inactive at WN, but that's not entirely due to my work here. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:11, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

ITN for Charles Mackerras

--Courcelles (talk) 23:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Cheers! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:13, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
I thought about delaying, and seeing how long it'd take to template yourself... but since I templates June, it was no work at all... Courcelles (talk) 00:15, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
I only do postman duties for Tone (and other admins I've badgered into posting something I'm too involved with) or on request, but it's nice to have to template myself! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:19, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Y And added to Recognised list. Mr. R00t Talk 01:53, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

What was wrong with where I put that ITN? Mr. R00t Talk 01:56, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict) I wondered if a stalker would beat me to that. I'd just added it myself because I didn't see it- you put it at the wrong end! They're supppose to be chronological, with the most recent being the furthest out to the left. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:58, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking that they would go in the front. And why the hell does User talk:HJ Mitchell/Recognised redirect here? Mr. R00t Talk 01:59, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
I like 'em like that. Don't ask me why- I'm fussy, but it's my userpage! I'm allowed to be fussy! I just leave you guys to clean up my mess! ;) And I redirected here for convenience if nothing else. While you're here, could you add really small "view" and "edit" links so I can just click on it from my userpage? Thanks. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:02, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Did you get the links? Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 02:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks. I added them. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:43, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

No probs, I moved the ambox down for you since the tags were in the way ;) Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 02:48, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough. When I have enough recognised content to require a 4th line in the template, I'll probably move or remove the tag, as much as it amuses me having it at the top there! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:50, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok well you could always integrate it as part of your userpage, like what fetchcomms does. Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 03:14, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Option 3, of course, is to leave things you didn't do much to- i.e. just nominated- off your user page. And, wow, where are you finding all these DYK nominations at- 3 in six hours is impressive. Courcelles (talk) 23:37, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
AfC. I should have some more in a few hours! I'm just that good! ;) I like to keep track of them, which is why I put them on there (as opposed to some deep fascination with 19th-century Medal of Honor winners). There's a guy on a dynamic IP who's been churning out these articles at an impressive rate. I've just been polishing them up a bit and nominating them. Since you're online, would you care to post WP:ITN/C#Deepwater Horizon oil spill? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:42, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
What's happened to AFC? I used to spend a good bit of time there, but I only remember two DYK's that I ever found; one I just had to nominate, and one that I had to essentially rewrite. If the signal to noise ratio has changed from almost all noise I need to start making it part of my "rounds" again. Courcelles (talk) 23:44, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
There's still plenty of crap that gets submitted, but there are some good articles. I came across one earlier this week on a wrestler that looked like it could have gone straight from AfC to GAN without more than a quick copy edit. While you;re doing your rounds, you can check that ITN link! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:50, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
ITN? I'd have called it no consensus, but someone posted it while I was tying a comment... Courcelles (talk) 00:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, David did it. I asked him to before you decided to show your face! ;) I'd have posted it. If it was an AfD I might have said no consensus, but I'd say there was plenty of support for ITN standards and David's rationale made good sense. Copyedit request for Kesha

Hi! The peer reviewer for the article suggested that the article be copyedited. I noticed that you had special interest in biographies so I thought this would be a good fit. I know you're really busy (your talk page header says this much), but I hope you can consider my request. Your contribution would be very appreciated! My apologies if this is not the proper format for requesting a copyedit. Fixer23 (talk) 03:56, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

While I'll let HJ Mitchell follow up, you can always file a request at WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests. mono 04:01, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Interesting. An article that's been on my watchlist for a while (mainly due to the kind of usourced, BLP violating crap those kinds of articles receive). Why not? I'll have a look and see if I can do anything useful, but it'll be early evening (UTC+1) before I can get to it- it's 5AM here and I'm sleep deprived!
@ Mono, I didn't know that page existed and I've been a (granted, rather inactive) member of the GOCE for over a year! You might want to make it a bit more... visible! Anyway, I tend to take copy edit requests here and accept or decline on a case-by-case basis. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 04:05, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks HJ! Fixer23 (talk) 04:12, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Could you please delete the article Floyd Mayweather, Jr. per {{db-g6}}, the history need to be merged in this article, but it need to be deleted first. An user moved it, I reverted it (in the wrong way), and now is a mess. thank you. TbhotchTalk C. 04:02, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Looks like Courcelles beat me to it- by the time I'd finished faffing with what went where, he'd done it! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 04:13, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

"Fossillised"

Apart from the fact that "fossillised" is misspelled: why? Ucucha 06:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) It's the main page, if there were mistakes admins or crats overlooked it'd be very embarassing. Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 07:52, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
It's British English. And as to why, "a fossil primate" doesn't make sense without the "ised" (or "ized"). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:22, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
British English is "fossilised", not "fossillised". And I'm not sure why you think that "fossil primate" doesn't make sense, since "fossil" is very commonly used as an adjective (the description of Saadanius calls it a "fossil catarrhine", for example). "Fossilized", on the other hand, would never be used in this context in the paleontological literature. Ucucha 15:26, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
It's British English- we have a habit of using surplus Ls- like modelled. However it may be used, fossil is not an adjective in English (interestingly, Wiktionary says it is in other languages). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
The OED disagrees, and certainly is a more reliable source than Wiktionary. Ucucha 15:45, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
He's British and you're American? I think he'd know more about British English not to be rude. ;) I think when he said "Wiktionary says it is" it was a statement of disagreement. There are many forms of English, Jamaican, Canadian, American, South African, New Zealander, Australian, British etc. so there will be disagreements in terms of spelling but most articles should use one form of English UNLESS stated otherwise, so if the article were on the British Prime Minister David Cameron it wouldn't be fitting that it were in Candian English now would it?
