Semi-protected, again

I just hit the infinite button for now. You can change it whenever you feel it's been long enough. Courcelles (talk) 22:42, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Heck, since I protected before Diego reverted, I had to delete one of my own edits! Never done that before... Courcelles (talk) 23:00, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Help

Hi HJ Mitchell, I wanted help to understand about Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai notability , I think quiet notable hotel in Mumbai, reason is it tallest hotel in Mumbai probably in India see tallest roof top bar, Also I have added lots of third party reliable references to article. But it seems the User:Codf1977 is disagree with this. Just wanted to know your view. please add talkback template to my talk page, thanks. KuwarOnline Talk 12:29, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

I've commented on the talk page. It looks notable to me. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 13:00, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
The latest tagging, I have to say looks a little pointy. My advice would be to "call his bluff" so to speak (not meant slightingly of Codf1977, who I'm sure is acting in good faith) and remove the tag and tell him that if he still feels it's not notable, he should take it to AfD. I suppose I should offer the disclaimer that just because I'm an admin doesn't make my opinion on its notability any more valuable than anybody else's. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:03, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your opinion, I asked you mostly because your one of the senior editor and have more knowledge(Wikipedia policy). hope you dont mind asking these kind of help :), thanks Eraserhead1 for expressing your view :) KuwarOnline Talk 17:58, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Hi, friend

You should comment on this page, because You was the one who granted me Rollback rights after looking at my edits and profile.Max Viwe | Wanna chat with me? 15:38, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

The admin in question is a friend of mine and is very good at what he does. I haven't checked, but if you have only created 4 articles, you don't have an awful lot of use for autoreviewer. It doesn't do anything interesting, it just marks your pages patrolled in special:NewPages so it's only useful for people who create lots of new articles. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:11, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Chris Huhne's mother

It looks like there might potentially be a slight issue with WP:OWNing, so I've raised it on the talk page. Also, he could quite conceivably think he's being goaded into breaking 3RR. ninety:one (reply on my talk) 22:25, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

FWIW - I didn't think I was being goaded into breaking 3RR. I assume Good Faith on behalf of those editing. It is incredibly rare that I get into 3RR terrain. It was because two separate topics on which I disagreed with the edits cropped up in rapid succession. And I didn't realize I was in that zone. I think these topics could/should profitably be discussed on the article Talk Page. I will take a 24 hour break from the article itself - but will be happy to engage in civil discussion on the Talk Page. Thank you Davidpatrick (talk) 22:49, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
I left him a friendly note about 3RR before I saw your note here. There may be an issue there, I don't know about the stuff with his mother, but the children's names popped up on my watchlist and I decided to go with policy. Might be an idea for you to take a break as well- if we all stop reverting, there's nothing to edit war over. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:29, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Points noted. As per above - I suggest that we discuss on the Talk Page. Thanks Davidpatrick (talk) 22:49, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I could be sure your new section about the names wasn't there when I started the section about his mother... My apologies! ninety:one (reply on my talk) 22:32, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Can you moved the article I Thought I Lost You (song) to simply I Thought I Lost You. Someone redirected it and so it's needed to be done :) -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:09, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me how to get accepted, will I still have a chance and rollbackers? Joe Gazz84 (talk) 21:52, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

If you came back in a week or two after using Twinkle, I'd probably give it to you- I'm just looking to see that bit if experience to show me that you understand what vandalism is and how it should be handled. Make sure you warn the vandals you revert (Twinkle can do that for you) and report them to WP:AIV if they vandalise after getting a final warning (Twinkle can do that for you, too!). Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:56, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
I was wondering, will you tell me where to revert vandalism edits with Twinkle, I don't see an option for it. Thanks! Joe Gazz84 (talk) 22:00, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
HJ how am I doing? I am wondering when I might be able to get rollbacker status. Also, just an idea. Should rollbackers be able to block for vandals? Just an idea. :)Joe Gazz84 (talk) 21:19, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, why not. Though, er, try to be a little less liberal with the 4im warnings- they're supposed to be for serious stuff like libel, not your average pathetic vandalism. It would be nice to be able to delegate the block button, but, alas, it's not going to happen! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:23, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I agree, but I am a little confused with something. Did you say I am getting rollbacker status? I do get what you mean, I will use the 1st,2nd and 3rd warnings. I understand now. Thanks much! Joe Gazz84 (talk) 21:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much HJ, if I am doing anything wrong, please let me know. I don't want get on a "bad side"! :) Joe Gazz84 (talk) 21:27, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. You'll still find Twinkle useful for warnings and big reverts, so keep hold of it. Let me know if you need any help! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:30, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Hi, I want to ask you that can a user who don't have an Wikipedia account and contributes using IP address create an article?Max Viwe | Wanna chat with me? 05:51, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Max, HJ is probably busy, in response to your question yes they can if it is a red link, however, if a link is a redirect then they, in most cases, can't since a creation lock is applied. Hope this helps.Fridae'§Doom 08:39, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
IPs can create talk pages, but they can't create articles. There was a big controversy in I think 2005 that resulted in IPs not being allowed to create articles. As for reviewer rights, given that you so recently had it removed, it might be a good idea to get a little more experience with the more intricate workings of Wikipedia first. Let me know if you need anything- I or one of my talk page stalkers will be happy to help. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Empty talk page

Hallo :-) I just removed the content of a talk page, Talk:Michael Hartnett, should it be requested deleted? If so, which template to use? Keep up the good work :-) -- Christian75 (talk) 11:50, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) No idea off-hand which template to use! I deleted it with a "G6: Housekeeping and routine (non-controversial) cleanup)" rationale, which I suspect is wrong. TFOWR 12:03, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
G6 works. It don't necessarily need to be deleted- you could have just added wikiproject tags, but it doesn't matter. You should probably add the wikiproject tags anyway since it helps the relevant projects keep track of the articles in their scope. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:36, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
...and done. You run away from the telly, too? I snuck back to me watchlist when it was 2-1, scant minutes later it's 4-1 :-( TFOWR 15:51, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
We could have come back from 2-1, but then it was 3-1 and then 3 minutes later it's 4-1. Looks like we've got Gary Lineker as the pathologist for the autopsy. 4-1! That's just humiliating. :( HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Seemingly aggresive user

Hi
I noticed that you recently put a block on IP user 213.137.24.8 because of vandalism. I have the Emmerdale article in my watchlist and I was rather shocked at the edit summary he left for an editing test he removed from a new IP user. I left him a message about being WP:BITEY but it seems like he has done this on other occasions. If he continues to be aggressive in edit summaries, or towards editors in general, after now, since I have only just left the template message warning him about being aggressive towards editors, is there anything we can do to stop him being aggressive? (Sorry I've asked you about this, but I am not an admin and I am unsure of the rules surrounding this.) Tomd2712 (talk) 12:45, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

New

I decided that we needed a new section, cause you got a lot of messages. Um, do you want me to copy-edit the Army officer's article? Is that what you're asking? I don't feel well, bear with me. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 19:48, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

No, don't worry about him, his article needs much more than copy editing! Besides, I doubt British Army generals are of much interest to you! I meant you should copy edit the article BOLLYWOOD DREAMZ asked you to and that I could take a look at it later if you wanted. I can't work out if it's frustrating or exciting when I bump into a crappy article on someone who's clearly very important, but hey, at least it's easy to track the career of an Army officer since all their promotions are published! I expect he'll take a me a day or 2, then I'll get back to Eckhart! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:55, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Well, I already signed on to do the copy-edit, and after I'm done I guess you can do your turn, though, you should let Bollywood know first cause he's got three other people signed up. Do whatever you have to do, I still gotta add a couple of reviews to his article, anyway, so. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:00, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello HJ Mitchell, I wouldn't mind if you helped out with the copyediting. In fact, I would be very happy if you could help out with the article in any way. The more... the merrier :) Thanks -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 03:08, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I don't mind taking on copy edits. :) It's always interesting to have a look at other articles I'm not so familiar with. I'll wait 'til ThinkBlue has had her turn (I'm busy on another article at the minute, anyway) and then cast my eye over it over the next few days. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:35, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm done with my part, there wasn't really that much to do, I was afraid of messing the info. up cause the stuff I was coming up with made sense—to me—but it didn't make sense after, it's written well. Your turn. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:39, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, I'll have a look a bit later on. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:43, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey, would this image be good in the After 2003 section? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:23, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey! :) That's a good image, I'm sure we could make good use of it if you could persuade the author to release it. We could do with a decent image for the infobox now you mention it- the deletion of the old one kind of took me by surprise- I thought I knew a copyvio when I saw one. :S HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:30, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah? I asked the author for permission and gave it to me, but I'm gonna persuade him/her if the image can be released as "Some rights reserved", don't want to go through the whole OTRS procedure, takes too long. IDK why the old image got deleted; that took me by surprise. We could use this one for the infobox, what do you think? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 01:57, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
It was deleted as a copyvio from an OTRS complaint (I checked the Commons deletion log) but I don't have OTRS access, so I'm not sure what the complaint was. I know a couple of admins with OTRS access, so I could ask one of them if you're curious. That would indeed be a good infobox image if you could get the author to remove that pesky "non commercial" restriction. I'm not sure what I think of the beardy look, though! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:11, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Nah, I know you got stuff to do, if it was deleted because of a copyvio, then I guess that's all I need to know. I asked for permission for that image, here's hoping that I get it. The first image I'm still trying to convince the author to release it under "Some rights reserved", so. Don't forget that the deleted image he had a beard. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:01, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Your Reviewer Right Granting...

Hi HJ,

I just wanted to ask you a question about your recent granting of reviewer permissions. Don't worry - you're not in trouble! I would like to know where you are finding all these users who can be trusted with reviewer - do you know each of them personally or are you adding them from some form of list? If it is the latter, then I'd be happy to help out!

Kind Regards,

The Helpful One 20:34, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

It's a strange combination really. I've granted it to most of my (hundred and twenty-something) talk page stalkers as they've appeared, then I just handle requests wt WP:PERM/RW or I'll grant it to anyone who looks trustworthy who crops on my (very long) watchlist! There's a script for quick granting of the right, though- it's the last entry in User:HJ Mitchell/monobook.js if you don;t have it already. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:39, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thehelpfulone, check out Wikipedia:Database reports/Potential reviewer candidates. PS. HJ Mitchell, you may consider me now another one of your talk page stalkers ;) œ 23:08, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Welcome aboard! :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:22, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks OlEnglish, now I'm a stalker too! ;) What requirements did these candidates have to be put on that list? The Helpful One 17:55, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
I would imagine it would be number of edits and time since account creation. The idea is to grant it to anyone who looks like they wouldn't totally bugger it up, so a s long as they look vaguely trustworthy, just grant it! There's a script in my monobook.js for quick adding the right if you want it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:00, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks - I installed it the second I read your first message, I must say that is very fast! :) The Helpful One 19:56, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Erm...

About this. Actually, we don't add films to the table until they have entered some form of active production, unless it is adequately sourced in the article. Since the status is filming as of May 20, plus we have a reliable source for the film itself [1], it's valid filmography table content. But I'm not going to revert you. Just an FYI. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:23, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough, I always thought we didn't add it in until it had finished production, thanks for the FYI. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:17, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
My pleasure. The line is sort of bright, except for sourcing a future film. Wildhartlivie (talk) 18:49, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, an editor, in that sense, is anybody who edits. I believe it was a bug that lead to 6 editors getting an editor right, but it doesn't do anything. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:00, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Just a note

My comment on Diego's behaviour should not be taken as criticism of the way you mentored him; I actually think you did a superb job — and that he has matured a great deal from his "piss-on-Elmo" times —. Just thought I ought to mention this. Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 23:29, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

You had the right idea- the software won't let you delete the current revision- but by undoing that edit, you reintroduced the material I was trying to delete! Dealing with persistent stubbornness

Sorry for my error on the Vandalism page. I got a little confused searching around the policy pages and thought that 71.105.87.54's edits warranted a post there. My bad.

However, what is the correct medium for dealing with someone as persistent as him? I've tried searching through the various policy pages. Looking at WP:DR, I'm not sure what's already been done, as he's posted across multiple talk pages with varying responses, and people have linked him to policies like WP:TE without success. It's seriously irritating, but I have no idea how to deal with it. Thanks for your time! NikNaks talk - gallery - commons 12:08, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, I suppose you could try WP:ANI. I'm not sure how much success you'd have, but there's a chance someone there might be able to offer a way forward (make sure you notify him on his talk page if you're talking about him on ANI). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, forgot to say thanks! I'm still fairly new to the wiki procedures, so thank-you for pointing me in the right direction.  :) NikNaks talk - gallery - commons 15:59, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Request for Rollback permissions

Hi HJ, I understand what you're saying, however, I have previous experience in dealing with vandalism, as such, on forums although I registered as a user 2 years ago I've been using it for far longer, just not as an active contributor. My internet connection is poor and thus Twinkle would cause me an incredible amount of lag. I do know what vandalism is, but until recently I was not very familiar with the procedures as such and I have thoroughly read the page you linked to me and have added the user who caused the defamation of my fellow classmates. I did read the criteria and I believe, if you'll allow me, that I can do a job that would satisfy the community.

Edit: removed some typos of mine that may cause confusion :)

Thank you. Fridae'§Doom 02:56, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

The problem is that you haven't proven here that you know what vandalism is or that you know how to deal with it and rollback can cause quite a bit of damage and get you into some pretty deep trouble if it's misused, even in good faith, but as I said at WP:PERM/R, if you gave it a week with plenty of reverts, warnings and a few reports, I'll be happy to reconsider my decision. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:03, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I understand, well I'll keep a keen eye on the articles for vandalism and do my best, I must agree that I am blind to most of the procedural behaviours, but in terms of no knowing I disagree, vandalism would be what happened with the Peter Brock article moments after he died, as I remember it someone wrote, "Haha he's dead" it was on the news in Australia. I haven't shown it because most of the articles I've been have had no problems with vandalism when I looked at that revision. My contributions may be limited but I have had experience in running large websites, I know the, "1 wrong move and KABOOM" scenarios, I've seen it happen, I agree, even if it is in good faith it can cause quite a lot of damage, I completely agree. I have not made as many reverts as other rollbackers because as I said I haven't seen that much vandalism. I haven't done any aesthetic changes in terms of dealing with vandalism but I know full well what it is. I am not challenging your decision. But what you decide is final and so therefore I am only giving you something to consider.Fridae'§Doom 03:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
It's all right, I'm always happy to discuss this sort of thing. I stand by decision of "not yet", but as I say, I'd be more than happy to reconsider in a week or so if you made a few good reverts (manually, undo, Twinkle, whatever floats your boat), warn vandals and report them when necessary just to prove to anyone who might question it that you know what you're doing . In the meantime, don;t hesitate to drop by if I can be of assistance. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:19, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks HJ.Fridae'§Doom 23:06, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi HJ, I would like to know if I'm ready now, I've read Wikipedia's Policies and have dealt with Vandalism, NPOV appropriately have told fellow reviewers about how to deal with Vandalism which isn't completely obvious in reviews and how to deal with it and I would like you to re-consider my request. Hmm. He's currently the subject of an ITN discussion (I don't know if you want to chime in there), but he'll need an article for the nomination to be properly considered. Fancy writing one? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 08:32, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I was warned off there due to my current DYK nom for the Spanish bishop. And, it's past this bear's bed time. Here's a great link to what could form the series: ELpasotimes. Along the side is a column on Fighting the Mexican Drug War. To tell you the truth, I kicked around Lara's article for awhile because it occured just prior to Father's Day. How sad for his family to lose him the day prior. Hopefully Wikipedia will be around when they grow up. There should be a pic of him somewhere. If I start the stub with the article could you flesh it out? Here is the Yahoo news English items on him: YahooSearch. I will start the stub and kick it out in 20 minutes. ----moreno oso (talk) 08:58, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll do my best and some of the ITN regulars might help out and hopefully there'll be some "drive-by" improvements. I'd say there's enough to establish notability anyway. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:03, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I have the lede done. And, I'm fading fast. I am way past my bedtime. I will kick it out as Rodolfo Torre Cantu. You can use the other Yahoo search items to build a great article from User:Morenooso/Rodolfo Torre Cantu workspace. ----moreno oso (talk) 09:22, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Looks like the article is already built. ----moreno oso (talk) 09:23, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
How id that happen? According to the history, it's been there for a good 5 hours, but I swear it wasn't there an hour ago! Ah well, at least we have an article. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:26, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Say it with me, folks. Diacritics matter....--Courcelles is travelling (talk) 09:43, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
I just improved the lede with several US English articles and WikiProjected it. ----moreno oso (talk) 09:45, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Bah. At least we didn't end up with duplicate articles. That would have been an interesting mess to sort out! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:46, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Someone ought to build a template that can be posted on the category of related articles. ----moreno oso (talk) 09:48, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Here's the Sergio Vega (singer) I thought you were talking about. He's getting lots of airplay too. Basically, the cartels have been kidnapping singers who either they admire (because the singer has a song that relates to them) or because the singer ticked them off for the opposite reason. There have been some pretty high profile singers killed lately. Sergio Gómez was one of the first and was supposedly tortured. It was sad because Univision ran the coverage of his body being recovered and you see him in riger mortis with burn marks. ----moreno oso (talk) 10:55, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
So, I guess Torre lost out to the 12 people killed on the bus? Must be a slow day ITN. . .----moreno oso (talk) 04:35, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
You never know. I haven't checked ITN/C in the last 12 hours (I actually slept [novel] at night [even better])! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 04:39, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I messed up my sleep cycle by staying up til 4am. I'm going to try to be in bed in 2 hours after Leno. ----moreno oso (talk) 04:51, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Cool, but shouldn't drugs be singular as in the pipe? ----moreno oso (talk) 05:11, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I suppose it can't hurt. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:12, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Diego Grez' restrictions loosened per AN

Per the AN discussion, which I have closed as a consensus to support Xeno's proposal and loosen Diego Grez' edit restrictions to this:

Diego Grez (talk · contribs) is restricted to a single account (excepting the employ of an approved bot), shall abide by all policies and guidelines, and continue to work with mentor HJ Mitchell.

...I have closed the AN discussion and notified Diego on his talk page. Thank you for your work to help rehabilitate him, both his own behavior and in ways that helped convince the community.

Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 18:01, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi HJ! This is the happiest day in the year for me and all of this happened with the help of you and Xeno! Don't know how to re-pay, seriously. My sincere thanks and I hope to keep your help for much more time! By the way, could you fix the 'holes' on my userspace? (deleted pages) ;-P Thanks again HJ! You rock! Diego Grez let's talk 22:01, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
That's excellent! Thank you, George for taking the time to close the discussion. Diego, you're welcome. I haven't regretted working with you yet, so don't let that change! Keep your head down, try not to attract attention and get some content work done! If you want me to history merge your Pichilemu rewrite, I can do that later on. Which pages do you need restoring? I can't find any obvious redlinks in your userspace, but if you give me a list, I should be able to restore them quickly. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 04:29, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I think I beat you to the redlink restoration. FYI I removed dated portions [3] of the note at the top of Diego's talk page. Since it's attached to your signature, you should probably review. Cheers, –xenotalk 14:13, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I saw, his talk page is on my watchlist. :) Thanks, for the update and for all you've done, it's very much appreciated and I'm sure Diego feels the same way. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:15, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

User:Editor182

Persuant to the wardiscussion over at ANI regarding this individual and another, he has henceforth proceeded to make egregious personal attacks, attempted to get his enemythe other editor banned, and violated 3RR. The other editor has refrained from editing. I feel the ANI thread constitutes a series of warnings, and I noted you left something on his talk page. This behavior needs to stop. N419BH 14:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm not seeing a 3RR violation or a personal attack. He looks like he's determined to get himself blocked, though. If you could provide diffs of 3RR or personal attacks, I'd be happy to grant his wish. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:46, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
See the last post on the relevant ANI thread. N419BH 15:50, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Here it is:
COPIED: "Some links, he's been actively violating WP:3RR since this was posted [4][5][6], attempted to get kris banned and pages locked, was warned by another admin about forum shopping, replacing[7] kris's entire talk page with a threat... — raeky (talk | edits) 14:23, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

" N419BH 15:52, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Well he hasn't edited at ANI for over 8 hours and hasn't edited at all in over 3, so there's not much to be done at the minute. A block now would be more punitive than preventative. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:26, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into it. That works. We'll see what happens when he comes back. N419BH 19:11, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Irritating IP

Hi HJ, I posted a message on WP:ANI a little while back but it seems no one has commented on it. The issue details an anonmyous IP from the 88.106 range who I believe is a disruption and is not acting in good faith. I was just wondering if you could take a look at it and let me know what you think. The post I made at ANI is as follows:

For the past few weeks now, I've been watching the actions of an anonymous IP user from the 88.106.xxx.xxx range. Based on past encounters with him, I'm quite certain he doesn't act in good faith but I think he's finally taken this to a level where it is intolerable. From the start this user has accused me of promoting Indian nationalism and has consistently failed to assume good faith on numerous articles. The main areas of contention were Frigate and Stock market where in both articles the anon attempted to replace images just because they were Indian. On the talk page for frigate, said user accused Bcs09 and me again of perpetrating Indian nationalism claiming that the only reason the ship was included was because it was Indian and that it was not a notable example. Then when I posted a message on WT:SHIPS and several other editors (who were not of Indian origin) disagreed with the anon, he then accused them of practicing Indian nationalism as well. When it became clear that the anon was the only dissenting opinion, he then attempt to elicit support from other users by canvassing on Talk:Pakistan, Talk:Germany, Talk:Bundeswehr and on a known POV-pusher's talk page. Curiously, he never posted a similar message on Talk:India. After it became clear this didn't help his case, he then proceeded change his tune claiming that the Shivalik should not be included because it doesn't have an AESA radar. On stock market the user left a similar edit summary claiming that he was removing Indian nationalism. On Hyperpower, he engaged in another personal attack in his edit summary once again insinuating I was an Indian nationalist and that I should shut up. The user then proceeded to revert all of my edits as evidenced by that anon's contribution log.

I also believe that the anonymous user is a sockpuppet for a registered user that has levied similar accusations against me in the past. I have collected a fair bit of information but would prefer to post that in a topic specifically dealing with that matter. In the meantime, I posted this message to a) bring his actions to the attention of administrators and b) inquire as to what actions can be undertaken to discourage this user from acting in this fashion. Thanks, Vedant (talk) 22:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Vedant (talk) 14:41, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

And it appears that my complaint was archived. I guess I have to sit here and take personal attacks from an obvious troll while no action gets taken... *sigh*. (Note this is not directed at you, I'm just curious why no action gets taken when an obvious troll goes on a prejudicial hate war). Vedant (talk) 00:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

More admin stuff for my user space

HJ Mitchell, could you please remove the content and edit summaries for the following edits in my userspace as purely disruptive material:

Thanks. ~NerdyScienceDude () 16:38, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

I did a few of them, but most of them don't really qualify for revdel. Some were, admittedly, less than pleasant and they've gone but general childishness wouldn't qualify as grossly insulting, offensive or degrading material. Looks like you've been having a few problems with vandals lately. I'm told there's a bug fix coming that should make that kind of crap edit filterable, fingers crossed. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:52, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Now wouldn't that be nice? :) ~~ Hi878 (Come yell at me!) 16:56, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
It would indeed. I'll unprotect this talk page once the bug's fixed since the filter that'll allow should be able to detect and disallow the moron edits. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:08, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks anyway. At least some of the more disruptive ones are gone. ~NerdyScienceDude () 16:57, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Request for Rollback permissions

Hi HJ, I would like to know if I'm ready now, I've read Wikipedia's Policies and have dealt with Vandalism, NPOV appropriately have told fellow reviewers about how to deal with Vandalism which isn't completely obvious in reviews and how to deal with it and I would like you to re-consider my request. Thanks Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 22:35, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Block section

Any reason why you didn't reply to my comment at User Talk:HJ Mitchell#Block? Could you? Mr. R00t Talk 23:10, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I've been busy. Anyway, having had a look, I don't see any immediate and pressing need to block at the minute, but if there's something longer-term or ongoing, you could take it to ANI to get more input, but there's not much I can do unilaterally right now, sorry. • Hi, Please help me.This user is blaming me for everything I do.I patrol new pages and nominate article for speedy deletion which I see vandalism or unambiguous advertisement. You can also take a look at my contribution.Still, He says that I am biting new comers. No other Wikipedians have commented me such thing.I once made mistake and nominated Neemrana Hotels for deletion.Since then, I don't know why but I have been considering as a very new editor who don't know Wikipedia policy. My rollback rights was also removed because of it.I think that this user played major role in it.Take a look at this link.He also aggressively comments against me.Please give me true advice.BestMax Viwe | Wanna chat with me? 08:16, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Requesting your attention

Hello HJ, I'd like to ask a favor, could you please have a look at this filing at AN/I, [19]. I was reported by User:Cptnono and summarily blocked by User:tariqabjotu. My concern is that although I did not violate 3RR, and had clearly said I would stay off the article awaiting input from another admin who had endorsed the content that was being removed by User:Jiujitsuguy, Tariq blocked me. I do realize I could have conducted myself better. I note that Cptnono has recently twice brought me to AN/I (he is the only editor to have done so in my five years on Wikipedia). Also I have previously had content-discussion differences with Tariq. I can't say I don't wonder if it might have been better for an uninvolved admin to look at Cptnono's report. What I would like is to have the block removed from my logs so we can all put this behind us. Respectfully, RomaC (talk) 11:41, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Cut-and-paste move: Prince Henry of Wales

Thanks for your note. I did indeed do a cut-and-paste move of an article from "Prince Henry of Wales" to "Prince Henry of Wales", reluctantly and aware of the problems.

The move was discussed on the page's "Talk" page and a consensus that far was reached (I left the text untouched to avoid any more confusion). The "Move" button was gone though. This might be an invisible protection for this particular page in the new-look WP perhaps, but it is outwith my expertise and no one was able to say what to do about it. That left only nuclear option, alas.

Howard Alexander (talk) 13:00, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

The reason you couldn't see a move button is because the page is move-protected so that only administrators can move it. A cut and paste move is highly problematic because it destroys the attribution, which is required by WP's licensing terms. As for the consensus, you need a much clearer consensus than that. Have a look at the archives of Talk:Elizabeth II and the drama it took before a consensus was established to move that article. While your enthusiasm is appreciated, only an administrator should be closing and enacting the result of discussions like that. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:10, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

User Agent4453 and his sock farm

I'm coming here first, since you have some history with this guy which includes knowledge of his socking (refer to your comments in denying his unblock requests). Do you know if there's a related puppetry investigation that I can append to? I've found a couple of obvious vandalism-only sock IPs (207.69.137.24 and 209.86.226.56) but lack the necessary time and energy to start a new SPI case. Majorclanger (talk) 14:36, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

Uh, why did you have to review my review of an IP's edit? Technical glitch? N419BH 15:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

There was another edit in between his and yours- another IP changing British Broadcasting Corporation (what idiot wrote that, anyway?) to BBC. I'm surprised my review went through- it took so long I got the Wikimedia Error screen. I'm really hating that part of PC! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I think someone anti-British was working on that article. Hence you see "British Petroleum", "British Broadcasting Corporation", etc. Silliness. Pending Changes is great, just a few technical malfunctions. N419BH 15:50, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
BP hasn't gone by British Petroleum in years and is one of the largest employers in the southern US not to mention that the rig was owned by an American company! and still some moron has to go worth the British bashing. Ah well, making fun of the yanks is a national pass-time here! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:57, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Same here :). As comedian Lewis Black says, "You know how annoying it is that we run around and proclaim we are the greatest country on Earth? There could be countries that give s*** away! Canada gives s*** away. You know what they give away? HEALTH INSURANCE!!!!!" N419BH 16:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, that health insurance crap makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time! I remember watching a woman on TV telling some journalist the US was turning into Russia because of Obama's healthcare bill. For crying out loud! The UK hasn't turned communist and we've had the National Health Service and the welfare state since the end of WWII we still complain about it, though, while standing in queue, just to be stereotypical! ;) And what is with the wild west gun laws? Seriously? The UK has tight gun control and our police aren't armed, when was the last time you heard of a British police officer being shot? It happens every now and then but it's very rare! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:16, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
