Hi Ghmyrtle, about a year ago you contributed to a debate I started on naming conventions for places in Wales. At the time, I think we agreed that 'regional' descriptors weren't generally useful when describing Welsh towns. However, User:Welshleprechaun has made an edit on Swansea Cork ferry which I believe opens the issue up again.[1] I'd welcome your input in the discussion at Talk:Swansea Cork ferry so that we can nail this down one way or the other.--Pondle (talk) 22:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Because I had a ukulele, and I had a wigwam. (I also had a toy drum set... perhaps I should have turned into Don Partridge rather than wasting time here?) Cor, how the other half lived. On the Wirral eh, Heswall was it or Parkgate perhaps ? Pretty posh, if my memory serves me right. A ukelele AND a wigwam. I grew up in Hull, and I had a bogie and eczema - although not necessarily in that order. We 'ad it tough.

Hi there,
You triggered the bot by doing what is called a cut & paste move, that is, trying to give an existing article a new title by simply taking the last version and pasting it under the new name.
By doing so, you're separating the article text from the contributor history, which happens to be one of the oh so many ways to inadvertently create a copyvio.
In a similar situation, the clean way to do this is simply to use the move function to give the article its new title, then replace the redirect on the original with the disambig page. With moving, the article history follows suit.
If for whatever reason moving is not possible or in doubt, it's better to post at WP:Requested moves to get it done. Fixing cut & paste moves are a bit a PITA :) It's all sorted now, though. Cheers, MLauba (Talk) 14:46, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Mmmm .... needless to say our efforts on the hook fell on humourless Yank ears. It now has all the 'hookiness' of a squashed tomato. Potential of Wiki viewers falls from 5,000 to three in one stroke. Actually for an article created on 1 May, it has taken almost three weeks to get to this stage, which hardly inspires me to bother at DYK anymore. I noticed your most recent submission was almost swallowed by pettiness. Is it just me ?

Totally agree - but I think the point to bear in mind is that we (you/me) are being credited for the quality of the article, rather than the quality of the hook. I understand (I'm sure other people read this, so I definitely do understand) that there are sometimes important WP:BLP issues to be taken into account, but recent DYKs have been no fun at all - long delays for no reason (other than lack of assessors), absence of any sense of humour among some of the assessors, and so on. Not too keen on the new history intro. For one thing, the Anglo-Saxons etc didn't settle England. It became England after they invaded. If the point is to show that Wales became distinct from adjoining parts of the island it should probably say so. However, the Britons were already distinct. It was the parts of Great Britain the Anglo-Saxons settled that became distinct from it. I would prefer to discuss the section on the Talk page, but I have to leave shortly and will be abroad for a couple of days, so may not have access to (or time for) Wiki. I'll leave it as it is 'till then. It won't cause the world to end, after all. I didn't want to make changes and then go silent without letting you know why. Hi Ghmyrtle,

Many thanks for your response to my query on User:Derek R Bullamore's discussion page regarding Music article info boxes, an area that seems quite fraught.

Having looked at your interests, particularly that of history, I am hoping you might be able to give me a few pointers regarding an article I would like to create... surrounding an historic newspaper from Crowle, the now extinct Crowle Advertiser. Having looked at the Crowle article I think what I have to offer Wikipedia is so extensive that it would require more than a section in the Crowle article; if added there it would make that article unbalanced. I have researched and logged a very large number of historic Crowle Advertiser newspaper articles gleaned from the British Library Newspaper Archive at Colindale. These articles are over one hundred years old and would therefore be out of copyright. I book-formed the articles and deposited the document in local archives where they are externally referenced on-line as a source.

The question is this: if I created such an article, headed with a intro para about the paper, do you think it Wiki-kosher to add these articles, or more probably selections/excerpts from these articles, being that they would all be cited, albeit to the same source? I would be grateful for any advice you may be able to give, or for any other user you feel may be able to help. Best wishes,

Thank you for bringing my attention to the discussion in relation to merging these two articles. I started the Lovecraft (band) page because it seemed to me that the originator of the H.P. Lovecraft (band) page regarded the successor band as completely separate in terms of musical style and historical significance; hence the successor band was treated almost like a footnote on the H.P. Lovecraft page. In terms of the history of Lovecraft, the successor band, particularly as related to their final album (which bore little relationship to their first, in terms of either personnel or musical style), the sentiments would appear to have some merit. In other words, H.P. Lovecraft was truly distinct as a band; those following that band do not necessarily follow or have an interest in Lovecraft, the successor band. This would seem to be a bit different from the Electric Prunes situation, where a later band used the name and recorded under it, in circumstances where the band name was owned by management. The history of the Electric Prunes seems to incorporate both bands, without apparent objection, perhaps because the band was not strongly associated with particular personalities.

Hope this is helpful. I don't know if the protocol is to simply cut and paste this into the Lovecraft/H.P. Lovecraft discussion page. Please let me know or convey my sentiments directly.

Given the strength of User:Kohoutek1138's sentiments in relation to merger and in the interest of closure, I have not further opposed his arguments, as you will see from the H.P. Lovecraft (band) Talk page. Hopefully some of what I did on the Lovecraft (band) page will be viewed as adding to the larger article.

I don't know if Kahoutek1138's comparison to Eric Burdon and the New Animals is as strong as your own Jefferson Airplane versus Jefferson Starship analogy, though the comparative obscurity of the H.P. Lovecraft and Lovecraft bands would seem to provide stronger support for no separate pages.

Hi Ghmyrtle! I've attributed the quote "nowadays, the record is rightly regarded as one of the essential works of the era" to Nick James, who wrote the Record Collector article, because I assumed that this was who said it. Errors in Rick Hall article

Hello again.. I am new to editing Wikipedia so bare with me.. There are several blatant errors in my Dad's page that I want to correct... He did not produce Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman".... The "Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section" listing has wrong members... and more... I only want to change the errors and add relevant additions...

When you say I need to cite a verifiable source.... I am the source.... I am FAME Studios "Historian" if you will... I have the artist contracts, correspondence, and royalty statements in my office..I am on the Alabama Music Hall of Fame board of directors and have spent the last year going through all fame/Rick Hall material with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame archvists...

I want to add artists he's associated with, HIt songs.. number of hits...etc.. In other words, I only want to make the page better.. I understand now that the summary of the book is not proper for the wiki page.. Please advise how to do these revisions without being deleted??
