info about me on my wikipedia

if there is something i want omitted on my wiki can it be removed, i know it is supposed to be factual but my whole life story doesn't have to appear as there are plenty of things that i have done and currently do that dont appear on there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.189.211.165 (talk) 17:35, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

@86.189.211.165: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Wikipedia's autobiography content guideline states that editing a biography about yourself is acceptable only if you are removing unambiguous vandalism or clear-cut and serious violations of our biography of living persons policy. I restored your deletions because you removed sourced information that does not appear to be controversial; it was information about time spent with WWE and on Big Brother UK. You're welcome to get the opinions of others by posting to the article's talk page at Talk:Jemma Palmer as a start. --Geniac (talk) 20:44, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Geniac. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi Geniac.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

FWord pointers

What does this mean? I did a search on Wikipedia and found nothing. I'd like to keep it on the F word disambiguation page but red links are not allowed and I can't find anything to link it to.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:16, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace

With regard to your deleting Aisleyne's date of birth details from her page. I see that the information page that you linked to WP:SELFSOURCE says that "Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as the following criteria are met: There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity." In this case I think it's perfectly reasonable to use either IMDb or her own website as a source of her date of birth, as there is no doubt that it is correct. I could post a link to a scan of an out of date passport, as a reference for DoB, but don't see why that should be required? Ianbaxter43 (talk) 16:42, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Have now found a magazine article that references her birthdate, so that should be acceptable. Ianbaxter43 (talk) 18:54, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

@Ianbaxter43: In my edit summary, I did not link to WP:SELFSOURCE, which yes, does say what you quoted above. I linked to WP:IMDBREF, which states that "Content from websites whose content is largely user-generated is also generally unacceptable." and gives IMDb as an example of a site with user-generated content. Yes, it would be reasonable to cite her own website as a source of her date of birth. However, her date of birth was not referenced to any website, let alone her own website. Posting a link to a scan of an out of date passport may or may not be okay, depending on which website has published that scan. The OK! magazine reference seems fine. There was a discussion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 225#Okay magazine about its reliability, but that discussion seems to have ended with no clear result. --Geniac (talk) 21:17, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Removing unsourced content

Why did you do this [1]? It's not something you can doubt. I'm sure you can find a source yourself if you decide to look for it. (If you don't succeed, ping me from here. But here's a hint: search on Oricon.)
And I've noticed you did the same on many pages. I don't think you are improving Wikipedia by doing that. --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:02, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

@Moscow Connection: I made that edit to remove unsourced content, in order for the article to better comply with WP:BLP, in particular the Privacy of personal information and using primary sources section. My ability to doubt or not content is irrelevant. My ability to find a source myself or not is irrelevant because the burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material. Yes, I have removed unsourced content from many pages in order for those articles to better comply with WP:BLP. I think I am improving Wikipedia by doing so. --Geniac (talk) 19:26, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
I don't think it is common on Wikipedia to have a reference next to every birth date. I don't see it done often. I'm not sure, but is it because celebtities' birthdates are usually common knowledge and don't require a source?
I can see how you can remove a birthdate if you have reasonable doubt it's incorrect. But that really looked to me like you were removing them from rather random articles. Why did you even think about doing this to the article in question? Do you know something I don't? --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:43, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
And actually, I've found out that Kanna Hashimoto's birth date is already sourced and it was sourced all this time. Open the article and search for "Kanna Hashimoto profile". --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:43, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Whether or not it's common on Wikipedia to have a reference for birth dates, or if you see it done often, or if celebrities' birth dates are common knowledge, is irrelevant. According to Wikipedia policy, what is relevant is if that content is sourced or not.
I thought about "doing this" (removing unsourced content) to this particular article because it is on my Watchlist and I see an edit was made to the article, so I looked at the article and noticed that there is unsourced content, and so decided to remove it in order for the article to better comply with WP:BLP.
And thus, you have satisfied the burden of demonstrating verifiability. Ref fixed. --Geniac (talk) 20:02, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Good Faith Edit

Hello @Geniac: I don't think that the edit which you did just few minutes back was a good faith edit on the article of the singer Darshan Raval. AR.Dmg (talk) 15:45, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

@AR.Dmg: Why do you think that? --Geniac (talk) 15:47, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Hello @Geniac: sir. Because we all know his date of birth. And so it was mentioned. I know the Wikipedia policy. And I try my level best to follow sir. AR.Dmg (talk) 15:50, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@AR.Dmg: "We" do not all know his date of birth, and who is "we"? Why would you assume that? There was no source given for his date of birth, so I removed it. All content on Wikipedia must be sourced including dates of birth. So even if every person in the entire world knew his date of birth, that would be irrelevant; that information would still need to be sourced on Wikipedia. What there is a source for is his age as of a particular date. So I corrected the birth information in that article to reflect the sourced information currently available. --Geniac (talk) 15:55, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Hello @Geniac:. Well sir in that case we have to hide the birthday parameters from his article. As it doesn't have the sources to prove that he was born either in 1994-1995 with good faith edit. Unless an untill their is proper sources which would validate the Wikipedia policy. AR.Dmg (talk) 15:59, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@AR.Dmg: No, we don't have to "hide" all of the birth date information just because there are unknown parts. Could you point to the Wikipedia policy or manual of style or guideline that says otherwise? The Times of India is a reliable source, so I don't know what you mean by "unless or until there is proper sources". --Geniac (talk) 16:05, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@Geniac: every article is not following the Wikipedia policy or manual of style or guideline. Neither they are published in The Times of India. What I meant about unless or untill was as you said your quotes :- so I removed it. All content on Wikipedia must be sourced including dates of birth. So even if every person in the entire world knew his date of birth, that would be irrelevant; that information would still need to be sourced on Wikipedia. So I said with good intentions.AR.Dmg (talk) 16:11, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@AR.Dmg: You are correct that not every article is not following Wikipedia policies/manuals of style/guidelines. However, that is irrelevant; that just means there are many articles that still need unsourced information removed from them. Which Wikipedia policy or manual of style or guideline says if we don't have complete birth date information, we have to hide all of it? Or is just that your opinion? --Geniac (talk) 16:18, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
My opinion is to contribute Wikipedia and nourish it. And edit article with Wikipedia policy.AR.Dmg (talk) 16:22, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@AR.Dmg: That's great. One of Wikipedia's policies is that all content on Wikipedia must be sourced. I removed unsourced information (full date of birth) and replaced it with sourced information (age as of date). --Geniac (talk) 16:27, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@Geniac: sir could you assist me. As I want to contribute to Wikipedia. But their are some boundaries and limitations for extended confirmed user. An also I'm a very new editor who is involve on a daily bases to create new article. And also understand the issue of vandalism. I'm also against it. October 2019 - Kim Petras

Hi, I would like to say first of all, by the looks of the edit warring and the debate over whether her birth name when she was born a Male should be included, thank you for stopping editing unless you have permission. Unfortunately, however, there is a part on her page I would wish to change and because I cannot edit, I am asking for editing access or for you to edit it as you have access. You have been on Wikipedia for 13 years, and I’ve been on it for about 2 months so I understand if because I am a new editor I cannot gain access to edit.

If you would think this is worth editing, there is a part on her page that says that Turn Off The Light, Vol. 2 would be released 1 October 2019. I would desire for this to be changed into the past tense as “it was released” and also add that she instead released it as a full length album with the first volume.

Thank you for reading! (BhadBhabie123 (talk) 21:19, 1 October 2019 (UTC))

Got your message

Geniac message:- Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; Answer: Okay, will modify the username.

Geniac message:- You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose Answer: I did not do any promotional editing and i was trying to tell you the real facts and requested to update the wrong information for example:-

1. You have listed "Azhar Sidique" as key person, where in he is NOT. The way to verify is to ask Millatfacebook / MyMFB Who i represent and i am telling you that someone put wrong information and you have a responsibility to correct it.

2. You mentioned "The site attracted over 4,300 users, most of them Pakistani, in the first few days. " This information is not accurate, the site attracted over 300,000 users in one week.

3. You mentioned "n 1 January 2013, The Express Tribune reported that the site had elicited funding requests to pay its server bills and may close down.[11][12] The site later rebranded itself as MyMFB. "

This information is from the website of express tribune and what i suggested was to correct two things:-

  1. 1 the site never rebranded just the website address was changed
  2. 2 despite of express tribunes story the time proved that the site NEVER closed down Alhamdulilah :-)

4. You mentioned "The founding team was listed as Azhar Siddique ,[14] an advocate; Arslan Ch; Abbas; Imran; Mohsin; Salman" This is wrong, the founding team is The Meers i.e. Mr. Zaheer Ahmed Meer , Mr. Omer Zaheer , Mr. Usman Zaheer , Mr. Ali Zaheer

5. You mentioned "The Express Tribune, an affiliate of the International Herald Tribune, said "The quality of user experience is so abysmal that it does not merit the humble title, 'Facebook clone'. To sum up, MillatFacebook is a bold effort... but it is unlikely to capture a large audience, judging by the online experience it offers currently."[8][15] " You did not mentioned about Radio Netherlands interview , Al Jazeera documentary, France 24 documentary , where in its in the best interest of justice to give complete picture instead of one side of story.

6. You mentioned "Alexa rank Decrease 1,165,003 (As of 27 January 2019)[3]" This is outdated where in the latest rank is 290,584 https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/mymfb.com

I hope that you will do the justice and correct these things as the purpose of wikipedia is to spread the knowledge with transparency and not just one side.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:29, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Rajeshbieee

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Rajeshbieee, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
