Is there a way you can find me a source for Mariah Carey's Butterfly's sales in Japan? Kate Bush discography edits

Hi. Your edit on the Kate Bush discography article was reverted three times by two different people for being confusing and problematic. The problems were stated in our edit summaries, yet you ignored the problems and reverted your edits back four times, when three times is the maximum number of times one is allowed to do that before being considered engaged in WP:edit warring. Twice you simply left the edit summary empty, and when you did write a summary, it didn't address the issues raised; directing us to an English-Dutch dictionary, or whatever that was, was not only useless but rude. You were asked to respond to our concerns on the Talk page, but you ignored that, too, and simply reverted again and again. I had to go back and figure out the problem with your source and then re-write it so people would know the source is in Dutch; you should have done that yourself. "Arteist" is not a recognized word on an English page, it looked like a typo, and you should have recognized that it would be a problem if left without some explanation. Why did you just leave it for others to figure out and explain in a way that could be understood? When you put in a reference, it needs to be clear. If there are non-English words included in it, you need to state the language issue clearly. Please take these things into consideration next time you add a citation. Please refrain from changing RIAJ's certified sales without discussion. I'm the main editor of the List of best-selling music artists and I have spent great deal of time retrieving all certifications for Japan from the following sources 1, 2, 3. Bear in mind that if certain certifications do exist but ARE NOT VERIFIABLE through those aforementioned RIAJ sources, then they CANNOT be included in the total Japanese certified sales of artists. All Japanese certifications MUST come RIAJ. List of best-selling albums

Hi, I noticed that you've added Platinum (200,000 units) for Santana's Supernatural in this edit. Besides Supernatural being posted as Gold (100,000) on April 2000, where is the Platinum posted?--Harout72 (talk) 15:26, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Santana's Supernatural was certified Gold in February 2000, and gained Platinum status two months later.

As for ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits by ABBA, RIAJ certified-sales is 750,000 units, NOT 600,000.[1] Recording Industry Association of Japan unified the Gold/Platinum criteria in June 2003. It is applied retroactively as for the older releases. I guess that you mistakenly counted the certified-sales for some albums. --Fugreena (talk) 02:11, 21 September 2013(UTC)

Can you point out the page for me which states that RIAJ applies the newer certification-levels to older releases? If you're right, then yes, I need to make a few minor adjustments. A very few certifying bodies practice the applying newer certification-levels to older releases (they are RIAA, SNEP). This Billboard article (see RIAJ at the right bottom), it clearly states The new standards which were introduced in August, apply retroactively to all new releases (Singles, Albums and Visuals), released on or after January 1, 2003. It means that only releases launched on or after January 1, 2003 are affected by the newer certification-levels. In other words, any other release published before that point, isn't affected by that rule, that would include the 1992 ABBA's Gold. --Harout72 (talk) 05:42, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

The purpose of changing the certification standards, was to avoid confusion caused by the different criteria between the domestic and international products.　On the page eight of newsletter published in January 2004, RIAJ explained why the sales thresholds were unified.[2]. Here is the excerpt of announcement.

改定前の｢ゴールドアルバム等認定基準｣は、邦楽と洋楽、シングルとアルバムによって認定基準枚数が異なっていました。
これを昨年7月度から、右記一覧表に統一したことで、非常に分かりやすいものになりました。

Billboard article that you cited was published in October 2003. It was only two months after the introduction of renewed standards, and any of the earlier releases had not received the Gold/Platinum awards at the time. In later years, some earlier albums and singles certified Gold or Platinum under the alternative criteria.

Yes I'm aware of the reason why the certification-levels for International and Domestic repertoire were adjusted, the Billboard article I provided above talks about that in the first part of it. As for the Double-Platinum for the Oi chasing Otojiro Hikawa Kiyoshi 2001.02.21 C (google translation), where do you read that it's double Platinum for 500,000 units and not 800,000? Because the statement under the images ※ダブル・プラチナ（50万枚）以上の認定を受けた作品のジャケット写真を紹介します。 (The following works have been certified for 500,000 units or more) doesn't exactly mean 500,000 units, it says more than 500,000 units, that included Love by 中島美 posted under Million-seller albums. I think the Billboard article I provided is very clear, RIAJ's newer levels are for the releases launched on/after January 1, 2003. Why Hikawa's 2000 debut single "Hakone Hachiri no Hanjiro" received Triple Platinum alongside its follow-up? If it had really shipped over 1,200,000 copies, it would have been Million.

On the RIAJ official site, there is NO clear statement that alternative certification levels are inapplicable to releases pre-2003. Instead, they just reported as follows;

 "現在基準が異なっている邦楽及び洋楽のシングル・アルバムの基準が、下表の通り、統一されます"

Note that Hikawa Kiyoshi's single "大井追っかけ音次郎" (released in 2001.02.21) has received its Gold in March 2001 for 200,000 units and the Platinum in May 2001 for 400,000 units. Clearly it was selling at a rate so fast that it must have reached the 500,000 units much sooner than November 2003. So 29 months after it first Platinum-award, the Double-Platinum should represent 800,000 units not 500,000. As for the single "Hakone Hachiri no Hanjiro", why would they list it as 1-million-seller when Triple-Platinum represents 1.2 million units. That's how RIAJ operates, doesn't it? Another example is B'z's album Brotherhood certified Triple-Platinum for 1.2 million units in July 1999.--Harout72 (talk) 10:02, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Certainly, there were a lot of more than Triple Platinum-certified domestic products before the unification of certification levels. (the B'z 1999 album scored sales of 1.39 million copies on the Oricon, easily passing the requirements for RIAJ's Triple or Quadruple Platinum status at the time).[4]

According to the Oricon, Kiyoshi Hikawa's first single (peaking at #11, remaining on the top-100 for 95 weeks) has sold 673,000 units, and its follow-up (reaching #8, remaining the top-300 for 51 weeks) sold 415,000 copies during their chart runs.[5][6] In comparison to retail sales figures estimated by the record chart, it seems more realistic to consider that alternative sales thresholds were applied to those older releases.--Fugreena (talk) 17:42, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

I did – you halved the size of the article. That is by any measure, a large edit. You removed the archival releases and removed information from the singles table. I don't see a graph on the page. The version that you reverted is filled with inappropriate information. Most of the chart positions are inconsistent with sources, and certifications are unsourced or wrongly sourced. I just modified the incorrect information and removed excessively-used "style="text-align:center;" and simplified the list. Don't throw false accusations at me persistently. Yes, and if you read the discussion page on which you have been invited to participate, you'll see that I agree with your removal of the excess formatting. You'll also see what I disagree with. You are not being blamed – the admin blamed all three of us. But when you are asked to discuss, you really have to do it, or the admin will block you. I don't make up the rules. I have not been rude to you, and I resent your comment. I find your continued refusal to discuss on the talk page to be rude. Read the discussion between me and the other guy, and say what you think.
