Speedy deletion nomination of William Bishop (Musician, Author) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on William Bishop (Musician, Author), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. COI edit

Thanks for message. I see that all your edits have been about this person, and it seems likely that you have a conflict of interest, that you must declare. Please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives. If you have a financial relationship with Bishop, you must say so now, so that I can tell you how to declare that interest. Please read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • Most of your text was unsourced or sourced to his own publications rather than to independent third-party sources. You also used reviews of his work, which are irrelevant since whether people like his output or not isn't a criterion for notability, and cherry-picked opinions look spammy. Four of your refs didn't follow any text.
  • It's not clear to me how he meets our notability criteria either as a musician or author. You don't list major awards or nominations, nor national chart placings. Just writing a book and releasing music aren't sufficient to get an article here.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews. Unsourced or inappropriately sourced opinions presented as facts include a keen interest in... a passion for music... given critical acclaim... as much attention to the instrumentation and the lyrics as possible... a [sic] acoustic masterpiece... receives international airplay from stations in the US, the UK and Europe
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Not reasons for deletion, but neither musician nor author are proper nouns, and if you are going to use an infobox use Template:Infobox person. Calling him "Will" is also unencyclopaedic.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above.

Speedy deletion nomination of William Bishop (singer) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on William Bishop (singer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on William Bishop (Author, Musician), William Bishop (Musician, Author), Draft:William Bishop, Draft:William Bishop (Musician, Author), William Bishop (singer), and other pages, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Request reason:

Many thanks for the message, but I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I am not accepting any form of payment for editing wikipedia. I have not been editing wikipedia for long, but with regards to advertising, promotion, spam or a COI, I only mean to be informative. I have no external relationship with William Bishop nor is anything I edit for promotional purposes or advertising. I am not employed by William Bishop or anyone associated with William Bishop. I take the creation of the encylopedia very seriousely, and that includes writing biographies, or any of the other edits I have made thusfar. Take Care, Felix Felix Nolan (talk) 16:21, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Having looked at the draft, if you aren't working for him, you should be. Even if I believe you, you were still editing promotionally about Bishop, and as such you won't be unblocked to edit about him further. 331dot (talk) 07:12, 2 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Thank you for the message, could you explain what you mean by promotionally? What do you think I’m trying to promote, and in what way is my article promotional. My edits are only to make sure articles fulfil the Wikipedia criteria. If I misunderstand I apologise, but how is a biography promotional, and how is my article different from that of other artist biographies? Take Care and Stay Safe,

Felix

Take care and stay safe,
