Proposed deletion of Oshawa Zoo

edit

The article Oshawa Zoo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only sourced by the official website, which undermines verifiability. No directly sourced claim of notability, thereby failing WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Copying licensed material requires attribution

edit

Hi. I see in the new article Dineobellator you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 12:10, 27 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Life on Earth: A New Prehistory moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Life on Earth: A New Prehistory, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Tyrannosauropus

edit

Did you read what I wrote at Talk:Tyrannosauropus?

Your recent conversion of this redirect to an article is based on a mis-reading of the sources. They say that the tracks found in Australia and identified as "Tyrannosauropus" (a mis-spelling of Tyrannosauripus according to Paleofile) are not this ichnogenus, and so need to be given another name. This source says "we need to re-name the large Lark Quarry tracks Amblydactlyus cf. A. gethingi". However, this is clearly a typo for Amblydactylus. So you need to add the content to Amblydactylus, and not start a new article under a mis-spelling. Peter coxhead (talk) 07:49, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have now added notes at Amblydactylus and Tyrannosauripus. (Paleofile seems to be down right now, but I have a copy from yesterday.) Peter coxhead (talk) 08:16, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've also asked at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dinosaurs#"Tyrannosauropus" for someone else to check this. Peter coxhead (talk) 08:25, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Eotrachodon, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Grimes Garage have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 21:28, 8 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
