Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Harlem Riot of 1964 with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Hi DVdm. I obviously disagree with your removing my links. In regards to Sandy Feldman, her life as an activist started as a member of CORE, the Congress of Racial Equality, in New York City. She was first a member of New York CORE (aka Harlem CORE) and then East River CORE, both chapters of CORE in Harlem. She then played a pivotal role in the community control controversy in the city's public schools in the late 1960's, including the Ocean Hill-Brownsville school strikes of 1967-68. She was an incredibly important part of the of CORE in NYC and if you took the time top check the site you would have noticed she is mentioned on multiple pages. The site is also a non-profit site that supports and encourages much needed scholarship on the subject. There is no product being sold.

The same goes for my including my links on the Harlem Riot of 1964. The riot started at a rally held by three different CORE chapters and only  a few doors down from the office of Harlem CORE.The riot represents a pivotal moment in the history of CORE as a national organization and the that it started at a CORE rally is obviously significant.

If you took the time to read the actual Wikipedia pages on these two subjects, you would see that CORE is mentioned prominently in the narrative. How you can argue that the inclusion of these links is inappropriate does not make any sense. My links can only enhance the user's understanding of the subjects. I would appreciate if you would at least contact me before removing my links. Thank you.

Ej7, the way to make sure that CORE is adequately discussed in these articles is in the text content of the article, with proper reference citations to reliable sources, and with links to the Wikipedia article Congress of Racial Equality.

RE: Sandra Feldman

Hi, I'm still awaiting a response as to why my link for CORE NYC is not being allowed on the webpage for Sandra Feldman. It is just as appropriate as the other two and as I've stated she is mentioned on several pages throughout the site, not just one or two. Please check for your self.

Interestingly, I've not found her name anywhere on that website. "The Feldmans" are mentioned on the East River page, but not Sandra. --Orlady (talk) 20:11, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

My $0.02... as other users have mentioned in their edit summaries, the link goes against the guidelines for external links. In addition to the aforementioned item #11, item #13 under links normally to be avoided mentions links that are only indirectly related to the article's subject. The CORE website is general information while the biographical articles are about specific people.

It's possible that the other external links in the article are also unsuitable. This is a big place and over time, inappropriate content seeps in without being noticed for a while. If the links are not appropriate, they should be removed.

Your username "Ej7" also closely matches the site owner's initials, "EJ" [1]. If you are the same person, I'd also suggest that you have a conflict of interest here. If you're interested in improving the article, I would instead edit the body of the article and back up the additions with reliable sources that are not original research. --Drm310 (talk) 20:13, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

She is mentioned in the East River CORE section, the Brooklyn CORE section, the Harlem CORE section, the section on Jewish members and on at least six different pages in the Exhibit section. That is at least ten pages off the top of the head. Ej7 (talk) 20:24, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't matter where she is mentioned. The link is not authored by a recognised authority, and thus per wp:ELNO #11, it is an inappropriate external link, and thus considered to be spam. - DVdm (talk) 20:44, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

We do sometimes link to sites somewhat like this one, but probably would not link to a site that doesn't fully identify its author.

Google did help me find a couple of pages on the site that deal with Sandra Feldman: http://corenyc.org/omeka/index.php/items/show/113 and http://www.corenyc.org/omeka/items/show/114 , but two photos deep in the website don't justify including the site on an EL list, and the photo captions don't have any substantive information that couldn't be added to the article. Also, I see that Google seems to think that corenyc.org is either an online casino or a Viagra-sales website. That suggests that the domain registration is unstable, and would make me hesitate to link to it. --Orlady (talk) 01:57, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
