Proposed deletion of Adam Holender

The article Adam Holender has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Help us improve wikimeets by filling in the UK Wikimeet survey!

Hello! I'm running a survey to identify the best way to notify Wikimedians about upcoming UK wikimeets (informal, in-person social meetings of Wikimedians), and to see if we can improve UK wikimeets to make them accessible and attractive to more editors and readers. All questions are optional, and it will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please fill it in at:

Is a "reclusive billionaire" according to The Telegraph. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:15, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. If the Telegraph says he's a billionaire, I'd better start an article. Tomorrow. Edwardx (talk) 23:41, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Just looked at it and couldn't think of anything to add. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:19, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for trying. It scrapes in as long enough. Still have to think of a hook. Maybe about asking £15m for the house, but selling for £3m? Maybe about "buying" a title? Maybe that his dad and brother were also presidents of (notable) corporations? Any thoughts? Edwardx (talk) 20:33, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
I will think about it. I wouldn't go with buying the title. It is pejorative and the title quite possibly came with property or mineral rights. In fact, I quite fancy buying one myself come to think of it. I understand that Irish titles are more freely traded than English. Lord of the manor titles are auctioned regularly but don't get you into the House of Lords. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:43, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Indeed, that requires a nice fat donation to the political party of your choice. Afterwards you can sell a book slagging off the leader, to recover some of the expense. 20:52, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
DYK that "the holder of the Scottish title Baron of Dunure is a Canadian telecoms billionaire from Montreal?" or some variant thereof. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:18, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
That will do nicely. Edwardx (talk) 21:29, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
You might want to research the history of the title? Philafrenzy (talk) 21:49, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
According to an Oxford University study mentioned in Private Eye (No. 1396, p. 12) it costs on average only £333,000 to get a Lib Dem peerage, only half of which is paid up front. Makes Ashcroft's £8m seem expensive. No wonder he is so angry. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:14, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
£333,000 seems quite a good deal. And the Liberals were perhaps the first to use this as a source of income. After WWI, it looks like it cost about the same (inflation adjusted) for just a knighthood - Maundy Gregory#Selling honours. Edwardx (talk) 10:20, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
I imagine that the LibDems now have more peers than MPs, but perhaps they have for a while. Certainly you can now fit all the LibDem MPs in a people carrier. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:29, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Taylor McWilliams is a 29 year old billionaire according to some sources. See also Lisa Mckenzie. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:37, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Nice work - doing your bit for Class War. Alas, I can't find anything remotely reliable about Taylor McWilliams being a billionaire. Wonder who his parents are? Edwardx (talk) 23:41, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Is (born 1971/1972) standard now? It's interesting that they donated to the Conservatives in the same year they were sued by the MOJ. Before or after? Philafrenzy (talk) 10:12, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
I like the template, in that it helps to cite age and thus a circa DOB for a BLP. However the "born 1971/1972" is a bit of a cut and paste job. If you prefer "born c. 1972", please fell free to change it back. Done a bit more expansion, and it looks like the donation was later. And the case was settled out of court. Edwardx (talk) 10:36, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
It's not like you not to posit a connection between those events. Are you feeling OK? Philafrenzy (talk) 10:54, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Ronda Keane Muschenheim

I found your discussion of Ronda Keane Muschenheim at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3AHoward_Gould. If you are interested in information regarding Rhonda Keane Muschenheim, I may be able to help. I was her attorney, and the Executor of her estate. Indeed, Mrs. Muschenheim was the daughter of Howard Gould, born out of wedlock to actress Doris Keane. I can relay oral history shared by Mrs. Muschenheim during her lifetime. I have scant documentary evidence aside from copies of several well funded Trust Agreements created for her benefit and signed by Howard Gould. I respect that this may not be substantive enough to be of value. — Preceding unsigned comment added by T&EAttorney (talkcontribs) 13:52, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

John Cryan

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at John Cryan. Cruks (talk) 16:42, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

 • Cruks, I am rather bewildered by this. Looking at the history for John Cryan, I edited it 2, with an edit summary, "copyedit". You undid it 36 minutes later, 3, with no edit summary. I undid your edit 112 minutes later 4, with an edit summary, "see MOS:JOBTITLES, and WP:MOS, especially WP:LEAD". You undid my edit 4hr 39m later, 5, again with no edit summary.

I think the following observations might be helpful:

1. This falls under the broad heading of Wikipedia:Edit warring. Two quotes from the section just below the TOC may help to illuminate my actons, "Reverting vandalism is not edit warring", and "When reverting, be sure to indicate your reasons. This can be done in the edit summary and/or talk page". The changes I was seeking to make neither add nor remove content, are essentially stylistic, and are all supported by policy. Thus "copyedit" seemed a reasonable, if perhaps perfunctory edit summary. In the absence of an edit summary, it was not unreasonable to interpret your revert as vandalism. Nonetheless, in accordance with WP:AGF, when reverting this possible vandalism, I left a more detailed edit summary, citing policies which supported my edit.
2 On 30 March, 220 of Borg left a polite explanation on your talkpage requesting that you leave edit summaries, to which you replied, "Ok, I will." See User_talk:Cruks#Edit_summarys.
3 I notice that I am not the only one that you are handing out these template warnings to. For example, 6

Would you prefer if I was to introduce these changes to John Cryan in small incremental steps, citing policy for each, so that you can more easily follow my reasoning? I would welcome your views. Edwardx (talk) 10:45, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Wiki of Andre Esteves

Hi Edwardx,

Let me understand how can I improve the wiki of Andre Esteves, as you reverted my contribution. There is missing information as well as wrong ones.

For example: in the Career section it is not said he was a System Analyst at Banco Pactual. This information is true and referenced in an article published by The New York Times (http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/09/28/an-investment-bankers-fortunes-rise-with-brazils/?_r=0)

Regarding the case Sete Brasil, it is said Marcelo Odebrecht organized crime relating to contracts worth billions of dollars with the rigs company Sete Brasil. Marcelo Odebrecht was arrested as the fallout broadens in an investigation into corruption at the state-run oil giant Petrobras, not Sete Brasil. This information is referenced by an article published by The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/20/business/international/brazil-arrests-head-ofodebrecht-in-petrobras-scandal.html

My edits respect Wikipedia´s fundamental principle of good faith. They are real and true information. I used trustful references, such as articles published in the most prestigious magazines and newspapers. Could you please reconsider my edits or let me understand how can I make them better?

Thank you,

Looking at Letterone.com - L1 Energy, it looks like L1 Energy is a subsidiary of LetterOne, which has a Luxembourg HQ. "LetterOne is a registered trademark of LetterOne Holdings S.A." Quite possibly there is a complicated structure for tax purposes. I'd say they are effectively the same company, for our purposes, for now anyway. Edwardx (talk) 11:37, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
But Letter One's board does not include John Browne...unless he was fired for being gay? I hope not.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:49, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
My considered view is that as they are a Luxembourg company, they follow the continental system of having two boards, Board_of_directors#Two-tier_system, thus the executive board and the supervisory board would equate to the "Team" and the "Advisory Board". Does that make sense? Edwardx (talk) 12:40, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Paul Polman Page

Dear Edwardx,

I’m writing from Unilever to request a correction on our CEO Paul Polman’s Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Polman).

The following sentence is factually inaccurate and needs updating : "...the company missed sales targets for six of the past eight quarters."

We have in fact beaten expectations for the last three quarters - please see below independent articles to support this and we can provide you with the numbers vs consensus should you need them: • Q3 2015: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-10-15/unilever-sales-beat-analyst-estimates-from-ice-cream-boost • Q2 2015: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-07-23/unilever-sales-beat-estimates-on-growth-in-latin-america • Q1 2015: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-16/unilever-first-quarter-sales-growth-beats-analyst-expectations

We would be grateful if you could please update this sentence to ensure that it is factually correct.

Please also note that Paul has recently been named a UN Environment Programme’s Champion of the Earth which we feel is sufficiently significant to be reflected: http://web.unep.org/champions/laureates/2015/paul-polman

Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information, at Andriana.matsangou@unilever.com.

Thank you, Andriana Matsangou — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andriana10 (talkcontribs) 09:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

I have updated the Paul Polman page accordingly. In future, could you please leave any messages at Talk:Paul Polman, so that anyone who is interested can comment or take action. I will see anything posted there as the article is on my watchlist. Edwardx (talk) 12:41, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

The "selected awards" section makes the article sound like an advertisement IMO.Zigzig20s (talk) 18:22, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Oh, btw, User:Andriana10: Perhaps you could explain to us why Unilever insists upon selling minuscule shower gel bottles in Europe? Are there specific references we could use to create an article on the size differences between American and European shower gel bottles? It may seem like a First World problem, but it is extremely annoying.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:32, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
User:Edwardx: Perhaps it will remain a mystery.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:43, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
Now you mention it, something really should be done. Of course, American bodies are rather larger on average, and they are more extravagant in their application of shower gel. We Brits shower once a week whether we need to or not, and can make one of those bottles last a year. Edwardx (talk) 00:54, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
I'm an over-showerer. Cleanliness is next to godliness. I suggest Unilever starts promoting germophobia to increase their revenue.Zigzig20s (talk) 01:40, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

I don't encounter many females; why should I? I don't know if they shower more often than men. I sometimes see dust in dressing-rooms on my shopping sprees. There is definitely an investment opportunity in promoting germophobia in the wider population. An equity to leverage and scale.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:54, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
I think that the corporations have this well in hand. Have you ever watched Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners? In its fifth series, but no article until I just created one. Perhaps we should try to convert them to Obsessive Compulsive Wikipedia Editors and get them to expand it? Edwardx (talk) 13:21, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
Lol, I don't watch TV. (We weren't allowed to watch TV at boarding school, so I didn't grow up with it and it seems foreign to me...sometimes I'll watch a Fox News clip on youtube though!) I don't have OCD--I'm just not filthy--and my Polish housekeeper keeps the house fairly clean, though I have considered getting a second housekeeper...Zigzig20s (talk) 13:44, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
I think you should get a second house first. Growing up, the servants were quite strict, and watching commercial television risked a sound thrashing. So it was the BBC or nothing. Edwardx (talk) 23:29, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
My primary concern is to move into a gated community.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:41, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Everyman Cinemas

With regard to my edit to the article, you have reverted a large amount of work in one go. The only cited content you are referring to is a sentence about The Guardian's report of staff on zero hour contracts. What you appear to have missed has been the reorganised lead, the updated infobox, replaced references and additional information about the company's recent growth. If the report on zero hour contracts is that important that it must be included, couldn't you have just added that sentence back in? At present there is no indication of why such contracts are a problem, or that notable. Many readers will probably not take much in from that sentence as it stands.

I look forward to you restoring the other edits I made as soon as is reasonably practical. Cloudbound (talk) 14:12, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. It was the misleading edit summary that was of most concern. There is further content in The Guardian article that I have now added in, but to go beyond that would be WP:OR. In any event, if our readers would like to know more about zero-hour contracts, then surely they can click through to the wikilinked article on the subject. It is not for us to determine if they are a "problem" in the Everyman context. Edwardx (talk) 16:38, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply and your edits. I understand you felt the edit summary was far too succinct than it should have been, and I apologise for that. However, using a metaphorical sledgehammer to crack a nut was not the right action to take. I trust that in future if you notice an overly simplistic edit summary by myself that you will make the changes you see fit and contact me, without hitting undo quite so eagerly. As an aside, if our roles were reversed, I would have apologised. Cloudbound (talk) 18:13, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Ellis Arthur Franklin

Thanks for your adds on this one. I've adjusted the text on siblings slightly as there was another son, the banker David Ellis Franklin (not enough I can find for an article on him). I remember David Ellis as chair of the Working Men's College Corporation when I joined the college in the 70s. I remember him talking about his family's taking in refugees, but I seem to remember that it was during the Nazi pre-war push across Europe, although this might have happened during the Second World War too. The source doesn't mention the war. Thanks. Acabashi (talk) 14:10, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

And thank you Acabashi - we all build on the work of others. As you will see, I've added some other family members: Ellis Abraham Franklin, Roland Franklin, and Arthur Ellis Franklin. I've just added a mention of David Ellis Franklin to Gershon Ellenbogen. Agreed, I might be a stretch to have an article about him. Edwardx (talk) 14:33, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I have replied to the deletion discussion for BrightHR and would like your opinion and feedback as soon as possible, so i can further address your concerns if required.

Cheers - Simon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicsqueaker (talkcontribs) 11:03, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Thank you Cosmicsqueaker. I still don't see enough detailed coverage in proper independent third party sources. BrightHR might be notable one day, but not yet in my view. Edwardx (talk) 14:35, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Outdated/unreliable year in article re:Noam Gottesman

Hi Edwardx,

I was hoping you might be able to assist me in correcting some minor bits in the Personal section of the wifi for "Noam Gottesman". But first, thank you for updating the Spouse section to note the divorce from Geraldine Gottesman, and current spouse of Bianca Duenas.
My concern is the dating of "2014 he was dating the actress Lucy Liu". Lucy Liu was already documented as [1] dating an unnamed person as of August 2013

Articles after that 2013 link are all from "secret sources" on gossip pages - such as "NY Post Page6" articles. Would you consider allowing the change of dates for dating Lucy Liu from 2014 to 2013 to reflect the lack of reliable articles showing Mr Gottesman and Ms Liu together after 2013?

Thank you, you time and assistance are greatly appreciated! — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeeGee13 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Francis Fowler (architect)

Hello, Edwardx,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Francis Fowler (architect) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Francis Fowler (architect) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
