Hi, I am afraid I cannot restore the article on Joseph Schreiber as a community discussion found that he did not meet our notability guidelines. However you can find some info about him on List of Silent Hill characters and externally to wikipedia you can find him here and here. Hope this is helpful. Riana's request for bureaucratship edit

Dear Dave, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana 12:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Carlisle local elections edit

Well I guess as an admin you should know best, but............. I have been editing Wikipedia for rather too long but always with the aim of making it a useful Encyclopaedia where one link connects through to more detail, or associated information or whatever. Having a list of red-links that go nowhere, that don't in themselves convey any useful information (we don't for example even know if these listed elections happened) and have been sitting there as a list for very many months just no support that concept of promotimgh encyclopaedic knowledge. Whilst it might seem comfortable to feel yourself the owner and arbiter of this page (and potentially many like it - my boredom threshold prevents me researching that), I feel it does a disservice to Wikipedia and its enquiring readers. Just my view I guess. Velela (talk) 19:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

List of religious wars edit

Thanks for the peek. I was thinking there would be something more grand, so I'm a tiny bit disappointed, and I can see why a trusted admin would speedy such an array. It is my opinion the pedia needs an actual list of religious wars, and I can see why such a created page might become a contentious arena. The list you userfied(? new verb to me) has a sort of unique construction (a construction which might better benefit from category application) and many of the wars linked have been redirected to larger articles. While this list might form the basis for a new list, there's zero chance I'll just repost it as is. If I rebuild it and decide to post it, should I gather consensus at DRV before recreating the article? BusterD (talk) 13:22, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD of G-Log - please relist instead of closing... edit

Hi Davewild, you closed the AfD on G-Log with "no concensus, default keep". Can you please relist rather than closing as not enough debate took place [1]? I've checked Google, etc, and there are no verifiable sources of notability. The article itself has no references. Most articles are PR stunts, and even the two articles mentioned as being notable in the short AfD discussion are no citable as both are Press Releases by the company themselves. In a nutshell, this article fails the most basic qualification required - that of notability. Thank you. Bardcom (talk) 15:12, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dave, great explanation, thank you. The reasons for asking for a relisting isn't because of a quorum, but because no discussion had taken place. The article was (unfortunately) closed just as a discussion was taking place. Some additional comments regarding the references in the article here - the first is merely a directory listing - any company can get a Yahoo listing, and it does not amount to notability. The last reference is about the acquisition, and this is the only mention of G-Log that appears on Google from what I can see. I'm requesting a relisting only to allow the discussion to continue. Thank you. Bardcom (talk) 16:39, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi Dave, I've looked at the references you added and I've done more searching. I made the point earlier that the only references I can find are PR articles, or articles that relate to the acquisition by Oracle (and this says more about Oracle's notability than G-Log's). The references you've added only refer to the acquisition. Adding more references to an event that was already referenced doesn't (in my view) verify the notability of the company. So the question boils down to, is this single event enough? I don't think so but I'd prefer to see more discussion. A relisting would hopefully resolve this. I'm happy you've given me this opportunity to make this point - but whatever you decide, I'll go along with. Thank you again. Bardcom (talk) 17:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Abelian grape - may I create a redirect ? edit

As the closing admin on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abelian grape, I was wondering if you would have any objections if I redirect Abelian grape to mathematical joke. I completely agree that the term does not merit its own article, but it is still a potential search term, and the joke is explained and sourced in the mathematical joke article. AfD nomination of Arizona primary, 2004 edit

An editor has nominated Arizona primary, 2004, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arizona primary, 2004 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 14:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Qualm.co.uk page deletion edit

I was looking at the deletion dicussion for this page and saw that the facts backing up the decision were not quite accurate

I am confident that this ezine is the leading site for previously unpublished contributions by contemporary English speaking poets including many of the most prominent in the world (such as Les Murray). It has more contributions from such prominent poets than any other poetry website that I know of. An editorial requirement is that poems have to be prevously unpublished. I agree that the page should be called ‘Qualm’ not ‘Qualm.co.uk’, but I think it passes the notability test with ease.

Would you consider a review of the deletion decision? Thanks, Rocsandford —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocsandford (talkcontribs) 19:23, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Confused on RfD decision edit

I am genuinely sorry to read that you decided to vote to “Keep” the article on Jeffrey A. Klein, MD. I am curious to know how you came to this decision, considering that (1) the article was authored by Dr. Klein’s son, which I believe is a major COI; (2) all independent sources determine that Dr. Klein basically improved upon an existing anesthetic procedure relating to liposuction; (3) Dr. Klein’s notability was limited solely to the procedure; and (4) there appears to be a conspicuous sock puppet in the debate (the sock puppet and the original author make the same editing mistake throughout the debate). Thank you. Ecoleetage (talk) 17:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I appreciate your prompt response and cogent explanation. While I believe the inclusion of the article on Dr. Klein is a mistake, I respect the opinions of my fellow editors and your final decision. I hope, however, that something can be done about the sock puppet account User:Procession. Thanks. Ecoleetage (talk) 17:42, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hans Schlepkopper edit

This article has been deleted, and I noted that my blog (www.enhancedperfection.com) was mentioned in the debate. First off I would like to say that I am not the originator of the name. I found it from someone else. I cannot confirm if this really is the person's name, and that was mentioned in my blog article.

However I do not believe that the issue has been resolved. Due to the deletion of the Hans Schlepkopper Article there is no longer any information on wikipedia about technoviking. No doubt the original technoviking article was deleted as well or redirected to hans schlepkopper. Being a popular internet meme of somewhat notoriety I believe that wikipedia should have some type of stub about the technoviking meme.

Gary Lynch and the DRV edit

First, although I didn't directly reply to you, I've commented to others saying I think the close itself was sound... there wasn't any evidence of notability on offer. You may want to, if you feel needful, rebut me there. Or maybe say you now agree. :) Second, regarding User:Davewild/Gary Lynch do you want me to go ahead and perform the history merge now so this article can be moved back to articlespace? Frankly, I just looked at the article and I think it would easily withstand an AfD now, your sourcing was just what the doctor ordered... (although I'd advocate adding the NYT article Fred points to as well) No reason to wait on moving it I don't think, it's ready to go. Let me know. ++Lar: t/c 20:33, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

A short stub was created about Erich Kofmel. Every statement was referenced (mostly to content published in UK newspaper). It is clearly newsworthy. Moreover, Kofmel's response was also quoted (and reference).

I suspect many Admins on wiki don't actually read the content before wielding the hammer.

Rfb participation thanks edit

Hello, Epbr123.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. could you please do me a favor? edit

Hello,

I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?

  1. I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
  2. I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.

The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.

Sincerely

Hello, thanks a lot for your help on filling out the questions on the pretest and questionnaire. In order for us to interpret the answers you gave, I have three additional questions to ask you. In the questionnaire, you check ‘free’ for the compensation of answering the question. Now there are some scenarios:

  1. If the users need to pay for asking questions through our knowledge service, will you still answer the questions for free?
  2. If the users pay a certain fee for each of his/her questions being answered, will you receive the compensation for answering the question or allow us to donate it to the charitable institutions?
  3. Do you have any comments on the knowledge service which we plan to develop? In this knowledge service, we will allow users to ask their questions, and the system will forward these questions to the users who edited wikipedia and were identified by our system as the domain experts. Which business model do you think is more proper? The expert can be compensated by the fee paid by the seekers or do it for altruism with no charge.

Thats for moving the page Dave - I realised I'd missed out the comma after the page was done, but wasn't quite sure what the process was for moving it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajwells (talkcontribs) 15:41, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

I'm 99% certain it was just an error, but in the off chance it was not - why did you remove my comment from this discussion? Shereth 21:37, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, never realised I had done that, I had the edit box open for a bit so am surprised it didn't come up with an edit conflict warning, sorry. Davewild (talk) 21:41, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I thought as much. Carry on! :) Shereth 21:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

My RFA nom edit

I've given the first three questions a first shot. I'd like your opinion if there's anything there that you think is missing; I may not have thought of something I should've mentioned. I'd also really appreciate it if you'd take a quick look through Special:Contributions/Lifebaka to make sure there isn't anything in there that you think I'd want to explain up front. And once again, thank you for nominating me. Happy editing! --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 02:08, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's officially up. Thanks again for all your help and for nominating me. You deserve a cookie. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 18:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletion review for Jamie Allen edit

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Jamie Allen. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 01:22, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

hi Dave - just taking you up on your offer of userfying the Jamie Allen entry - i teach multimedia art classes and think i could elaborate Jamie Allen's entry as required (i refer to his work now and again when i teach, which is how i noticed that his entry had been deleted - it was quite bad before :).

Request for Review/Vote on "Gabriel Murphy" Article edit

Hello Davewild- lifebaka has been helping me with the article "Gabriel Murphy". The article has been userfyed and is located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:LakeBoater/Gabriel_Murphy. There is currently a Deletion Review open to move the article into the mainspace. lifebaka has voted to move it into the mainspace but we are waiting for additional user feedback. The deletion review can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Gabriel_Murphy. I was hoping you could take a moment of your time and review this article. Thanks much for your consideration. LakeBoater (talk) 04:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for removing AfD tag and keeping Seattle Knights edit

How do I get rid of the Wikify tag? An administrator rewrote the article for me and now it is wikified. I am afraid to remove the tag myself. That is why I am asking you, since you have authority. Thanks! PSQ (talk) 00:12, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Happy Independence Day! edit

As you are a nice Wikipedian, I just wanted to wish you a happy Independence Day! And if you are not an American, then have a happy day and a wonderful weekend anyway!  :) Your friend and colleague, --Happy Independence Day! Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 21:31, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I saw that you closed this AfD as no consensus. Basically, a fine call based on the votes cast so far, but would you consider keeping the AfD open for a couple of days longer and possibly even relisting it to generate greater input? I think the article deserves a full keep and would most likely have gotten it given a bit more time. As you noted in your closing summary, the article changed a great deal from the time of the early delete votes and several of the original delete votes changed their position to keep, as well as there was a new strong keep vote by Albion moonlight. A few of the users who cast the original delete votes have not had the chance to look at the new version, since they have not edited WP since the time I left notes at their talk pages asking to take another look at the article . This applies, for instance, to User:John J. Bulten and User:Wenli (I checked their contrib lists and both have last edits time-stamped before I left notes at their talk pages). Wenli was a weak delete vote to begin with so there is a good possibility he would have changed his mind if given the chance. A few extra points. The AfD was not listed on any deletion sorting lists until very recently (now I have listed it on one), so it was not on too many people's radar screens. Plus, this being the 4-th of July weekend in the U.S., many people are travelling and are away from their computers, etc (I noticed that a few other AfDs where I voted recently are moving extremely slowly in the last few days). I think in this case keeping the AfD open a bit longer and possibly even relisting it to generate greater consensus would be justified. Thanks, Nsk92 (talk) 20:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

More Assistance on "Gabriel Murphy" Article edit

Hello Davidwild. Thanks for voting on the "Gabriel Murphy" article in deletion review. As you may know, the concensus was to move to mainspace, which occured on July 4. The next day, a user by the name of Wolfkeeper nominated the article for deletion (which he/she had done on 2 prior ocassions). The AfD discussion is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Gabriel_Murphy_%283rd_nomination%29#Gabriel_Murphy. Once again, if you have time would you please chime in on this conversation and vote on the AfD? The article just passed a deletion review and it has been nominated for deletion by the same user again only one day after it was moved into mainspace. Thanks for your assistance. Deletion review for Wasp Factory Recordings edit

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Wasp Factory Recordings. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evilandi (talkcontribs) 15:01, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I note you have now also deleted the talk page for this article, where I referred all people seeking to re-create the page to my userfied version. This has already attracted a new editor to the project. Since, as you know, I am co-ordinating a rewrite of this article (you userfied the article page for me), please can you re-instate this talk page so that it continues to point potential re-creators/editors at my userfied page? Otherwise I suspect that people will recreate this deleted page in a poor unsourced form as per the original article. I believe this talk page qualifies for an exemption under CSD G8 "This excludes any talk page which is useful to the project, and in particular: deletion discussions that are not logged elsewhere"; improving the article for re-inclusion is useful to the project and my co-ordination of the rewrite is not logged elsewhere (or at least, not anywhere that anyone could reasonably be expected to find easily). See also WP:CIVIL and WP:GOODFAITH. Could you temporarily reinstate this talk page for two months please? Andrew Oakley (talk) 09:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Howls of Imagination and Paul Williams (writer) edit

I have just discovered that the above pages have been deleted and would be grateful if you could review this decision.

Firstly I apologise if any guidelines have been unwittingly breached. In 2003 one of my short stories was published in a Doctor Who anthology Short Trips Past Tense. Earlier this year I was made aware that this book has an article on Wikipedia and, on reviewing this, saw that all of the other contributors had their own page on Wikipedia. I therefore decided to add a page for myself and then included a separate page for my first book "Howls of Imagination" which is a non-fiction study of the wolf in folklore published by Britain's leading folklore publisher, Heart of Albion Press. The book has received some excellent independent reviews and is of interest to those interested in the history of wolves and general supersitions.

It seemed logical to fill out the existing entry in relation to the Short Trips entry and then to provide additional information about my other principal work. There was no intention to seek publicity for "Howls of Imagination". If, however, you feel that this article should remain deleted I would be grateful if you could leave the Paul Williams (writer) article intact as, in my opinion, this is needed to complete the Short Trips Past Tense entry.

I look forward to your comments.

Speedy deletion of Alec Bauer (musician) edit

A tag has been placed on Alec Bauer (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Icewedge (talk) 04:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Miss Pakistan World and Sonia Ahmed should be restored edit

The article was well done.. the issues stared when some users just wanted to highlight the negative side of it meaning the controversies only with no proof.... The article needs to b e restored as there may be some parts which were promoting the pageant... but administrators should have a look at it and decide properly. I think there has been noone who has read it properly. The article has not been through a proper review.

There is a need to restore this page as this was the only way people could understand the history of this historic event where they are the only ones in the world who do this event for Pakistan. Not only that the page "Sonia Ahmed" was also removed, where Sonia Ahmed is the President of the company and the brain child behind Miss Pakistan World

So please advise as to what are the steps to restore the original page and get the help of an editor to rewrite if necessary.

Thanks --Sonisona (talk) 09:00, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Viewing deleted article edit

I saw your comment (from several months ago) at Wikipedia talk:DRV#Viewing Deleted Articles, and I'd like to request that the deleted article Kate Whitman be placed in my user space for viewing. This article was deleted after a contested AfD, solely on the grounds of non-notability. I decided not to go for a deletion review. In the AfD, several people suggested that the article be merged with the article on the subject's mother, Christine Todd Whitman. There was already a brief mention in that article, and I expanded it; however, the entire paragraph was deleted by someone on the grounds that it was inadequately sourced. There were several sources in the deleted version of Kate Whitman that I could use to restore the material (although it would still just be one paragraph) to the Christine Todd Whitman article. Thank you for considering this request. Neutron (talk) 17:12, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Greeting! I am grateful that you corrected the grammar and wording in several articles for Medieval Bulgaria. Can you make such review for Samuil and share your opinion whether it is ready for FA. Thanks :-) --Gligan (talk) 20:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your help and I am glad that you liked the article... Bulgaria has very interesting history :):):) The image was removed only several days ago and I will substitute it with a picture of his monument in Petrich (unfortunately in communist style). As far as that sentence is concerned, you may reword it if it sounds strange because it was written by a non-native speaker so your correction should be better in any way. Best, --Gligan (talk) 11:29, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
