Welcome to the Military history WikiProject! edit

To get you started... edit

Hi DCTT, since your grandfather was in the airforce (I had a granduncle who was a general with the MP), you might have something to contribute to Development of Chinese Nationalist air force (1937-1945). Please take a look and make improvements if you can, especially those related to personnel and training. Thanks! -- Миборовский 02:08, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK, I will see what I can do. Why is this subject limited to the period between 1937-1945? Is there an article on Jianqiao?

It currently deals with wartime efforts of the air force, so 37-45. Could probably be extended backwards to 11 and forward to 49, though. Who/what is Jianqiao? -- Миборовский 01:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jianqiao (筧橋) is the location of the central airforce academy of the NRA in Zhejiang, often referred to as the cradle of the Chinese airforce. I suggest we move the date forward to the formation of this academy in 1931. I will see what I can do DCTT 03:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh Jianqiao of 笕桥英烈传!-- Миборовский 03:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yah, one of my favorite Chinese movies! DCTT 14:38, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

RE:Xinkou and Taiyuan edit

Since Xinkou is an "officially designated" major battle I say we can make the Xinkou article encompass the general strategic situation of Xinkou and Taiyuan while also dealing with the specifics of the Xinkou battle, then the Taiyuan article can have the specifics of the Taiyuan battle but refers to Xinkou when talking about the overall situation. -- Миборовский 03:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wedemeyer edit

Hi DCTT, I'm reinserting Wedemeyer back to the commanders list. He overtook Stilwell's post and was a lot more helpful than Vinegar Joe in helping Chiang rebuild his army. His book "Wedemeyer Reports!" shows that he understood Chinese politics and was very sympathetic to the Nationalists and the enormous problems they faced. He was like the opposite of the self-serving Stilwell. Blueshirts (talk) 16:17, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Second Sino-Japanese War. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. 76.172.217.103 (talk) 19:03, 31 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is a discussion about belligerents order for WWII in the talk page [2] which challenge previous consensus. Based on this discussion, some editors changed the Template:WW2InfoBox. Current change (in infobox) are ranking France above China, ranking usa above uk and adding the leaders of Romania and Hungary into Info box. I thought you should know, as you seem to join the previous discussion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.172.57 (talk) 23:20, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. March Madness 2017 edit

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting edit

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
