RfC on Featured List Criteria section 3b

Hello. You are receiving this message as you previously posted in the ongoing RfC on whether Featured List Criteria section 3b should be modified or eliminated. Based on feedback and commentary received during the section-by-section analysis of the current criteria, I have proposed a new version of the criteria here. I would like your input on ways to improve and refine this proposal, in hopes of reaching consensus to implement this change to the criteria. Thank you for your attention. List question...

Hi Courcelles, wondered if you could do me a wee favour... I'm looking at List of the vascular plants of Britain and Ireland as part of WT:BISE (don't worry - I'm not going to drag you into a British Isles dispute ;-)

I know virtually nothing about lists. So... is this list fairly typical? It looks odd to me: it's effectively a "list of lists" - as well as List of the vascular plants of Britain and Ireland there are also "child pages" like List of the vascular plants of Britain and Ireland 1 etc.

It also seems to have a category - Category:Lists of the vascular plants of the British Isles - which doesn't quite match the lists' titles. Again, is that normal, anything to worry about, etc?

Thanks in advance, TFOWR 14:34, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

12:33, 20 September 2010 Courcelles (talk | contribs) deleted "Sean Carver" ‎ (Expired PROD, concern was: non-notable MS employee, probably COI-creation, see image upload.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanpatrickcarver (talkcontribs)

I deleted it because another editor proposed the deletion, and no one contested it for seven days. Are you now contesting this deletion? If so, I will restore it and nominate it for a deletion discussion. Courcelles 18:27, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Sikh Extremism

Could you help with an article edit please. The link below is in question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sikh_extremism&action=historysubmit&diff=389489296&oldid=389357382

After I posted information about a Political leader in Canada by the name of Ujjal Dosanjh who was put on facebook to be assassinated, the facebook page was subsequently deleted by facebook. This was put on the Sikh Extremism article only to be contiually edited/deleted due to being false!?! I provided a Google link on the discussion page, and again it was reverted by people with 'extreme' / POV views perhaps?

Several links plus another link which contains the terms 'Sikh Extremism' to satisfy the more 'extreme' demands on syntax as well as the semantics.

Any help/mediation would be welcome and appreciated, thank you Zylog79 (talk) 15:43, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

A clear case of WP:Synthesis. I don't know a single person who has not received some sort of threat on facebook. Tony Blair, George Bush, and my good self have received them. That does not mean it has anything to do with this article. Thanks --Sikh-History 16:49, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
I think your confused perhaps? I'm not promoting Sikh Terrorism or denying it, I'm pointing out the fact that The RCMP and Vancouver police are investigating threats against Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh posted on a Facebook page labelled “Ujjal Dosanjh is a Sikh Traitor.” by various radical Sikh extremists.

John J. Critteden

Hello, friend. Just wanted to see if you still anticipate having time to review John J. Crittenden for GA per your comment on Wizardman's talk page. I don't mind the delay; just want to see if you are still interested. Thanks. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 13:27, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

See my note below, I got called out of town unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon. I will start on this today. Courcelles 18:23, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Your input is requested

I have started an RfC on inappropriate userboxes, i.e. those that don't follow the introductory paragraph at WP:UBX:

"A userbox (commonly abbreviated as UBX) is a small colored box ... designed to appear only on a Wikipedian's user page as a communicative notice about the user, in order to directly (or even indirectly) help Wikipedians collaborate more effectively on articles."

How does a userbox about a user's own preferences in regards to what topics on Wikipedia they hate and what type of sexually explicit material they like and actively view help Wikipedians collaborate with one another? Which is the question I am raising.

This introductory paragraph over at WP:UBX contradicts WP:NOTCENSORED so I'd like you to weigh in at WT:UBX, it'll only take 5 minutes of your time. I've sent this message because the topic has not had much community input

What on Earth?

Okay... I haven't even seen a computer in ~77 hours. I see there's a lot of things I need to look at. Give me time. Courcelles 18:09, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

If I need to see something, please place it here. My watchlist has over 300 changes... and there's no way on Earth I can examine all of them. So... did I miss anything really important? Courcelles 18:29, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Did you see this before it got archived? I sidestepped the question on my talk, but I'm not a "list expert" by any stretch of imagination. ;) Glad to see you back- I was getting concerned with your conspicuous absence from my watchlist. :P sonia 09:29, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Nope. I extended the archival time, but that still got through. I'll run a reply over to TFOWR today. Courcelles 18:03, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

WP:USPP, still interested?

Courcelles, you signed up to assess with WP:USPP. If you are interested in public policy or assessment, check out your assessment page, because there is a lot happening on the project. Most of the recruitment for the assessment team was specially targeted, so I know you have a lot to offer to the research goals of this project. I posted the second assessment request and there will now be a weekly update on the project assessment page. If you are no longer interested in working on this project, I promise this is the last message you will get, but I hope you decide to check it out. Wishing you good Wikitivity, ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 22:44, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Still interested... just not with enough time on here to even keep my head above water these days. Will see what I can do over the weekend into Monday. Courcelles 08:26, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

30 Rock

I replied at my talkpage, you know like last time. What more is needed for the season page? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 02:39, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Nothing major, just some proofreading, MOS stuff, and some checking to make sure the copyright violations were gone. It's ready. I'll write up the nomination tomorrow afternoon if you don't beat me to it, since we are up against a deadline. Courcelles 08:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
I checked the summary plots for copyvio and wrote them a "different way", but I might missed something. Or you might be referring to something else entirely. If you want to nominate it go ahead, I haven't had much luck at FLC, so. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:41, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Awesome [on the nomination] and on my watchlist. I'll do whatever they ask. Hey, would it be all right to add images of Elizabeth Banks and Julianne Moore to the Cast section, cause they guest starred as both love interests for Alec Baldwin's character... or is too late? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I wanted to use these images of Moore and Banks, using the double image template, but it doesn't look right. I guess maybe we can add an image of Banks. IDK, what do you think? Or actually how 'bout adding an image of Cheyenne Jackson since he did become a cast member cause of his role. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:53, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Denis Clemente prod

Hi Courcelles, could you restore Denis Clemente? I feel he is a notable basketball player and I'd like to fix up the article to indicate that. At the very least, I'd like to see it go to up for discussion. Thanks--TM 05:01, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Done. As written though, it doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE, so please get to the matter quickly before it is sent to AFD. Courcelles 05:11, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, it did meet WP:ATHLETE to begin with, but was slightly confusing. It said he was playing in Israel but the name of the team was abbreviated. If anyone had looked up the team name, they would have seen that it is a professional league team, thus passing the standard. Anyway, I've updated and cleaned it up, so thanks for undoing your deletion.--TM 14:44, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Rubashkin

You're headed for an extended discussion of your improper action on that AfD if you don't reverse it. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 07:18, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

That does seem to have been a premature close. Deletion discussions are supposed to run for seven days. You closed that discussion after less than three hours. See WP:GD: "Speedy delete, Speedy or CSD mean that the user thinks the article qualifies for one of the narrow speedy deletion criteria. If there are no objections, the deletion discussion may be closed early. If the decision is contested, the AFD discussion continues." This is a controversial deletion, and deserves a full AfD. It wasn't a new article; the article had been up for three weeks, had been edited by several editors, and had more or less settled down to a consensus. There was no rush to delete it. Especially since the only controversy is over the article title. --John Nagle (talk) 07:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Clearly neither of you understands the moral imperative of how we handle G10's. They go. Instantly. Without discussion. Using an AFD as a stalling tactic for a G10 is unacceptable. Courcelles 20:14, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
