Some thoughts about wikilinks...

edit

Hi, please accept some unsolicited advice from an experienced editor.   When you use wikilinks (the [[brackets around a word or phrase]] that allow people to go to other articles, as you did here) please keep a few things in mind: We typically don't need duplicate wikilinks. We don't need wikilinks for common words, ideas, phrases or numbers like: student, learning, books, teacher, experience, history, 500, 1983, language, number, independent, support, instruction, journal, challenge, rich, etc. The purpose of wikilinks is to give users access to information that improves their understanding of the subject. If a person can read, they know what a book and a teacher is, or what a journal is, or what 500 means. Rather, please use wikilinks discriminately. In one case the phrase "organic chemistry" only had a wikilink on organic. Wikilinking [[organic chemistry]] makes more sense because that's a complete idea. The phrase "viva voce" only had [[viva]] wikilinked, which could be improved by wikilinking [[viva voce]] as a whole phrase, because a common reader (such as myself) has no idea what viva voce means. Also, when you link to random words, these links often wind up pointing to disambiguation pages like this one on relations, which then requires the reader to guess what the article means by "relations". The full run down of wikilinking can be found on this page WP:OVERLINK. Not trying to get on your case, only trying to help you out. Thank you, and happy editing! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:50, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, after looking at these edits, which you made after I took time out of my day to politely explain the purpose of wikilinks, you again submitted an unreasonable wall of wikilinks. I'm guessing you didn't read WP:OVERLINK? Can you explain why we need two wikilinks for statistics, a wikilink for the generic concept of regression, a wikilink for inference, a wikilink for the common word robust, a wikilink for reliability and for frontier, optimal, leadership and mathematics? Did I mess up in my explanation of the purpose of wikilinks? Did the WP:OVERLINK document not cover it all? Did I hurt your feelings by suggesting that your efforts weren't consistent with the Wikipedia Manual of Style? If so, I apologize for offending you, but rather than overlinking, you might want to consider focusing on trimming down the length of the article, which is needlessly long and is coming off as promotional. If you're not interested in that, then please consider this a warning to please stop submitting indiscriminate wikilinks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:34, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your suggestion. I will be more careful next time. Confusedfarista (talk) 05:46, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding links to disambiguation pages or repeating the same link several times throughout the article, as you have continued to do on Faculties of University of Rajshahi. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. Cnilep (talk) 07:32, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Faculties of University of Rajshahi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Network (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Aditya, can you fight for this article, or can you give me a direction to keep the article in Wikipedia having no complaint?

Too much detail

edit

Hi, though you're putting in a lot of hard work at Faculties of University of Rajshahi, much of what you are adding is starting to come off as a promotional brochure for the school instead of imparting actual objective information. (Examples: "The Department of Physics is located in the First Science Building, which is surrounded by the scenic beauty of the university. It has a beautiful flower garden inside." and "In this department, lesson has been being given in various important subjects relating to practical life". There are also strangely worded statements such as "Many of this department's graduates are chasing doctoral and post-doctoral research abroad, some ones are also having jobs in a variety of countries of the planet." Wikipedia is not an indiscrimate collection of information. The article has become a text wall, and I would recommend thinking about ways to make it shorter. If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Faculties of University of Rajshahi saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Cnilep (talk) 04:03, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can I rewrite the article with no possible violation? I really want to work with this article. I really didn't have the intention to violate the law. This is a prestige issue, I have already publicized about the article into many places. Please administrator, give me permission to write the article again. I think you can understand the condition. And this time I will, as much as possible, not break copy write law. I hope you will response very soon, and show me a way. Please. This is a humble request to you.

Re: I would be really encouraged and will appreciate, if you permit me to rewrite the violated ares. Or if needed, I will write full articles with proper reference and without any copy right violation. Please permit me, and show an easy and best way about this article in response to my request. Confusedfarista (talk) 17:50, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

First, I'm not an administrator, just a concerned editor. Second: Yes, absolutely, you can re-write the article. For the time being, you can re-write the text at Talk:Faculties of University of Rajshahi/Temp. Your re-written article will be moved to the correct name space after the copyright investigation finishes. Be aware that simply paraphrasing the copied sentences is not enough; you need to write the information in your own words. Wikipedia:Plagiarism and Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing have some advice for writing and citing sources. Finally, be aware that the copyright investigation will probably take several days, perhaps as long as two weeks or more. Cnilep (talk) 00:11, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, ফ্ল্যাশ মব. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Flash mob. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Flash mob – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. JMHamo (talk) 14:12, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please don't take it otherwise. Did I mean any harm to you? If it is, then I am really sorry for that. That was really not my intention. I just copied few things from your profile or talk page. That's it. That's why it may show some edit history. But believe me, intentionally I didn't change anything. Please take it lightly.
