Please assist with any ongoing requests
You might like to take an extra interest in our To Do list

Places in Saskatchewan‎ edit

I see that you have been busy creating articles for places in Saskatchewan‎. Just a tip that when adding the airports try something like this rather than putting in the whole airport article. It doesn't have to be exactly like that but there isn't a need to add the boxes or the categories. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 05:11, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Galt Historic Railway Park edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Galt Historic Railway Park, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.villageofstirling.com/Visit/Galt.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 23:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Villages / Towns of Saskatchewan edit

You are making wonderful beginnings on several towns/ and villages of Saskatchewan. To help these article remain standing on wikipedia, after you have done all this awesome hard work... Can you add your favourite references as you go, add a basic intro sentence, and pop on the talk page banners. See how I have modified these pages ... the references in the infobox, the intro sentence for WWW visitors who don't know what a Eyebrow, Bladworth, Bjorkdale, or Brownlee may be, and the talk page banners, helps induce others to help on the articles. The references helps the article not to get tagged like...Bladworth, Saskatchewan which may fall into AFD or deletion. I hope this is of some help to you.... Kind Regards.... SriMesh | talk 01:54, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help hopefully to save you from the tags.... regarding images and copyright - any photographs you personally take, you may upload freely, as your own work. Any images / text quoted or used directly online must be in the public domain ie over 75 years old according to the Berne copyright convention.... or uploaded by a share license. For Canada copyright law says 50 years from date of passing of the photographer / publisher. If the text or image is uploaded (re-published and therefore new author, and new date) to a website which also gives fair use to the public domain images, then you may upload them, quoting the source and policy - ie some images on the USA and Canada government library and archives sites work this way. If you see text on combinations of web pages, you may reword the contents of the articles into your own words or quote a sentence and give the bibliographic references and put the quotation into < blockquote > Quotation < /blockquote > , then you should not receive any more tags :-) I hope this helps a little also.SriMesh | talk 02:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation style edit

Hi there! Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that you added some more information about Stirling, Alberta to the Stirling (disambiguation) page. Thanks for the effort! Unfortunately, the Stirling (disambiguation) page is what is called a "Disambiguation page", or "dab page" for short. Such pages get created when multiple subjects have the same name. They function as "signposts", helping to direct people to the correct page. They have different style guidelines than proper articles. The overriding guideline for a dab page is that it should have the minimum information needed to guide people to the correct article. In particular, the target article should almost always be the only one linked. You can check out the style guidelines for dab pages for the gory details. I've reverted your addition because of that. Nothing personal! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask for help at the help desk. Happy editing! —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 00:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Edit Summaries edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Implementation of Inforbox settlement with mistakes edit

Hi Cocopie,

Please familiarize yourself with {{Infobox Settlement}}'s map features, in particular the pushpin_map because you are incorrectly placing {{location map}} within the field "image_map". Doing that will erroneously displace a piece of code, [[Image:|250px|none|]], that is not suppose to be there. Please see my changes to Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan. Also, the "city_logo" fields are deprecated parameters. They have been replace with "image_blank_emblem" fields.

Also, there is Census 2006 data available somewhere and can be inserted with the help of {{Canada CP 2006}}; the 2001 template was deprecated in favor of the 2006 one. —MJCdetroit (yak) 20:17, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cocopie, I've fixed the broken {{Location map Saskatchewan}} transclusions that I found in SK communities, if there's any left and you need assistance, don't hesitate to ask. Also, if you have some template/boilerplate, don't forget to fix that, so future implementations render correctly. --Qyd (talk) 14:56, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Johann Theodore Brandley edit

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Johann Theodore Brandley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Melville Beach, Saskatchewan edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Melville Beach, Saskatchewan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Melville Beach, Saskatchewan. Replaceable fair use Image:Location_of_Stirling.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Location_of_Stirling.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 00:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The many buildings of Stirling, Alberta edit

I see you've put a lot of work into various historic buildings in Stirling, and I congratulate you for it. However, most of the articles don't demostrate how each of them is notable, lack reliable sources, or may be written like a travel guide, rather than an encyclopedia article. If there is only a few sentences to say about a house or other place (for example, Centennial Park (Stirling), or Andrew Larson House), then they should simply get a brief mention on a larger overview page. We wouldn't create a seperate page for every building in Fort Edmonton Park, would we?. It's not that we need to delete all the information, simply organize it better and keep it consistant with WP standards. I am also quite interested in rural Alberta history, and would love to collaborate with you on this and other related projects. Cheers. --Kevlar (talkcontribs) 20:11, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Andrew Larson House edit

The article Andrew Larson House has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

though this building is old, it is not a provincial or national historic site; being designated a historic site at the local level does not confer notability; no reliable source to confirm notability otherwise

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Stirling, Alberta.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Stirling, Alberta.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk) 08:50, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with File:Plaque at Andrew Larson House.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Plaque at Andrew Larson House.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:56, 9 March 2021 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk) 08:56, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
