  Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, but that you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. VisualEditor edit

Hey Cmo910 :). Thanks so much for your edit here; unfortunately it looks like you accidentally added nowiki tags. This isn't your fault, it's just that the new editor doesn't directly accept markup (like the link you added) - although we're looking at ways to make it handle people trying to use markup in a better way. In the meantime, the userguide here should help with how to add things like links and references. Thanks, and let me know if you see any other issues or have any comments. Don't forget to sign your posts edit

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --Jax 0677 (talk) 08:53, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

March 2017 edit

Just to note that you are edit-warring in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie introducting BLP violations.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:56, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

[1] does not contain a single indication that she is American.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:57, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Cmo910: You need to stop engaging in edit warring. You can get blocked from editing Wikipedia if you continue violating Wikipedia's three-revert rule. I wasn't able to find any source online that corroborates your claim that she is American. The subject herself told The Huffington Post in 2014 that she doesn't have an American passport. She specifically said, “I had many opportunities to get an American passport, but I chose not to because I felt, in a slightly misguided way, that I wanted to somehow be authentically Nigerian". If you object to this, you need to provide a reliable source. Please try to gain consensus on the article's talk page before undoing Ymblanter's revision. Thanks.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 15:23, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@User Talk:Versace1608 in 2014 correct. Read the appropriately titled article http://billmoyers.com/2014/12/16/nigerian-author-chimananda-ngozi-adichie-identity/ done later that same year, perhaps I'll get direct sources from her to silence this hubbub.

If you continue to present sources which do not prove she is a US citizen as a proof she is I am going to block your account for vandalism.--Ymblanter (talk) 15:40, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Cmo910: The source is a good read, but no where in it does it state that she is American. You shouldn't be editing the article because your personal connection to the subject makes you a WP:COI editor.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 15:43, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Cmo910. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 15:45, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, this is beginning to make me feel feel threatened and intimidated, and is making my effort to contribute to Wikipedia unpleasant and is discouraging me from editing. An objective claim of american citizenship following simple rules (https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization/naturalization-spouses-us-citizens) in no way suddenly shows a conflict on interest. The referenced article on Bill Moyers points out clearly she is an American emigrant. The subject's wiki page indicates her spouse Dr. Ivara; who is Nigerian-American.

I also believe by fully opting to self-disclose a relationship I exercised caution to fully indicate my familiarity with the subject. Also, the reference is to Bill Moyers' site and in turn an interview with NPR and the Aspen Institute, of which I am not employed by either nor is there any evident logical basis to suggest compensation. This is a neutral point of view WP:HA

@Cmo910: You do not need to feel threatened or intimidated. No one is trying to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. If you want to contribute constructively to this encyclopedia, you'll need to adhere to the policies and guidelines developed by the community. You cannot state that she is American and not provide a reliable source to support your statement. Everything you add to Wikipedia must be backed by a reliable source. You, having a personal connection to the subject, makes you a conflict of interest editor. This means that you cannot edit this particular article and other articles with which you are affiliated.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 17:28, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Greetings & a great weekend to you all. I believe it would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016. I believe this would be pivotal to the encyclopedia as a whole & a means to get editors who have gone inactive to revive their Wikipedia activities. Sent by Celestina007. Welcoming New Volunteers
(25/06/2021)

We hereby want to officially welcome new volunteers who have recently joined the collaborative project and have volunteered to work in WP:NIGERIA. The arrival of new volunteers is often associated with the confusion of “what to do” on their part, it is then behoove of us to treat them with care, guide them, and protect them from the general pitfalls a new editor would most usually fall into. We are also admonished to clean up after them if they err and encourage them, most especially when they are genuine editors with potential to do good work not just for us, but for the community as a whole. Once more, we hereby thank all new editors who have volunteered to work here and hope they enjoy their stay here.
