Al Fusaic
editAl Fusaic is an educational platform of resources focused on the Middle East and North Africa region hosted by Al Fusaic, LLC. Al Fusaic’s content ranges from recommendations of books, television shows, music, etc. to political analysis, current events reporting, and travel guides. Founded in August 2020 by Meagan Dashcund and Benjamin Lutz, Al Fusaic’s primary principle is to challenge the dominant global narrative that often mischaracterizes the MENA region. Through dynamic cultural resources, a broad selection of content writers with a diverse array of backgrounds, and assorted avenues of engagement, Al Fusaic hopes to encourage open-mindedness and cross-cultural dialogue to combat political polarization. This is reflected in the name, a mash-up of the Arabic word فسيفسا and it’s English translation: mosaic. Embedded within the name is also a mode of thinking that informs Al Fusaic’s mission. Described as “mosaic thinking,” the goal is to capture the moment of being confronted with the unknown and responding with love and care. Al Fusaic seeks to build a space where a community of passionate and curious individuals can gain unique perspectives in conversation with one another about the MENA region.
