Cannabis Science primary sources

I posted this on the talk page there as well. Would it be any different if the news releases came from a third party site (like yahoo) despite still being the same news release from the company? If there are no secondary sources available for this information, is the tag necessary? Since the information was about the goals of the company and their recent developments, would it not make sense for it to come from them directly?

Or does this just apply to the pictures of the patients? Here I would rather have the real pictures as to a secondary source. I Would like people to see the healing power first hand, so they can make their own conclusions rather than give the interpretation of someone else. I understand the company bias, but this is very new information and I don't believe any secondary sources exist yet.

Thanks for your help on my first page! I have been a long time reader here, excited to add new content.

P.S. I want to expand existing pages (or create new ones if necessary) about cannabis and cancer. The current information is based solely upon studies done in mice or cell models, and I want to add some of the information about human patients. Due to unfortunate political conditions, there exist few secondary sources for this information. Most is anecdotal from people as well as these pictures from Cannabis Science. People are using cannabis oil to cure cancers, but because of our governments there are little to none "reliable" sources for this information. Would some of the pictures and releases from Cannabis Science be used to make articles about the effects on humans?

Thanks Again!

Hi Chris the Paleontologist. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Encore Atlanta, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Not a copyvio. If you believe the article should be deleted, please use another criterion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Pete Gardiner (musician)

Thank you for your consideration with regard to the entry for Pete Gardiner (musician). He has recently been granted a biography page with BBC, but unfortunately they source their information from Wikipedia. As such he is unable to populate his BBC page without using Wikipedia. If it makes any difference, this was my reason for creating a wiki entry. Thanks Steenamaroo (talk) 18:03, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

A page for Twice As Good

Hello Chris,

you recently edited a page that I have attempted to post; offering advice on how to talk to the administrator. I apologize but my knowledge and skill of operating wikipedia is very low.

Several times now I have tried to post a page about my band, Twice As Good. They are an internationally known and recognized band. They are mentioned on other pages in wikipedia, specifically the Native American Music Awards for having won an award that year.

They are also relevant to the Pomo Indian modern culture and history, as they have traveled and performed all over the USA proudly representing their heritage.

What more would you like to know? Can you help me? How can I help you?

respectfully, Paul Anthony Steward Paul Anthony Steward 14:27, 11 July 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluesmanpaul (talkcontribs)

Mentoring

Hi Chris I'm not sure how I can tell whether you are the right mentor for me or not, but I'm happy to give it a go if you are! So far I have only been messing about fixing typos, spelling misdemeanours and obvious redundancies. I'm still getting around to choosing a WikiProject - I move fairly slowly nowadays in more than one sense. I'm very experienced in literature searches, done a fair bit of hard copy editing, and done some writing too, so I should not be too much of a burden. Mostly it will be getting my head around Wiki guides, protocols and processes. I can envisage a time in the future when I'll want to put my two bob's worth in on them as well. Maybe for now the thing to do is find a page that irritates me, edit it, and get you to give me some feedback. Also, I'm bound to come across a Wiki rule of some sort that I don't understand and I'll turn to you for enlightenment.

Thanks for offering to mentor me. Cheers Ian Ian Harold Lester (talk) 06:36, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

RE: Nomination of "Church Of Latter Days" page for deletion

Chris the Paleontologist,

I am finally replying to your message that you sent to me explaining why the Church Of Latter Days page was deleted "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Church_Of_Latter_Days". I am writing to inform you that there are now independent and reliable websites, or interest groups discussing it, and I thus felt it qualified for insertion into Wikipedia please. Here are a few examples:
This is a television interview that I was asked to do for "Heart of the Matter", produced by Shawn McCraney of Alathea Ministries. It was taped live at TV20 Studios, in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 19, 2012. The Episode title is "Jim Johnson". I was invited to discuss this New Religion, New Church, the "Church Of Latter Days".

Here is the direct link to the Episode: http://hotm.tv/325/ Also, you will find discussion on the notes about my interview, and The Church.

Then Chris, there is discussion on the "mormon-issues@googlegroups.com" discussion page. Here is the direct link to those discussions please: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/mormon-issues/9kFb8VNSR9E
I ask that you please reconsider the decision to delete the Wikipedia page, as I hope this meets the insertion criteria.

Should you have any questions, please email me at: info@thechurchoflatterdays.org, or respond to "my talk".

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Regards,

Speedy deletion declined: Swingadelic

Hello Chris the Paleontologist. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Swingadelic, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims coverage in reliable sources. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:53, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of band page (EchO)

Hi Chris the Paeontologist I am writing you because of the speedy deletion of the page I have created today (EchO). I've seen many pages of bands and many are created everyday, so I ask you why was the one I uploaded deleted? If there are references to be put I'll do that. I'll reference the whole page. I just ask you to release my page again for me to do that. Awaiting your soonest reply. Thank you.
Vania Sousa, 01:31 July 27th, 2012

(talk page stalker) The article was deleted by an administrator - that's two experienced users who concur that the article in its current cast did not conform to our inclusion criteria at WP:BAND. I have also reviewed the deleted material and confirm thier decision. If you feel absolutely certain that you can provide references that can comply with those criteria for notabiulity and that are supported by WP:Reliable sources, feel free to ask me on my talk page, or another admin, to restore the page to your WP:User space where you can develop it, before it is moved to main space. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:34, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Adoption of Ian Harold Lester

Hi Chris. If you've definitely decide to adopt this user (he seems willing enough), would you mind changing the box on his userpage to {{Adoptee|Chris the Paleontologist}}, so as to remove him from Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user? Cheers, Yunshui  13:54, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I'll definitely make that change. Thank you! CtP (tc) 16:32, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Cheers for that mate, I didn't know what was going on - I just wanted to create the page so that I could use it as a link on another page and then that happened. Thanks again, much appreciated. 17:42, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Question about an article (D. S. Lliteras)

Hi Chris,

I posted an article (my first) about D. S. Lliteras, which is supported by over 100 references. In fact, there were so many, that I bundled many of the references in order to make the text more readable (fewer reference markings - per Wikipedia instructions on how to reference). I think that all of the references are authoritative, obtainable, and relevant. There was an initial note added to the top of the article that it needed more references, but I thought it was a mistake added by a bot, so I deleted it (sorry). It showed up again today, but I truly do not know why it is there. Can you please provide some insight? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Rmorrison0324 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmorrison0324 (talkcontribs) 03:02, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: John B. Wells

Hello Chris the Paleontologist. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on John B. Wells to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 03:48, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Being a host of Coast to Coast AM seems a good enough claim to pass A7 to me. A quick Google search didn't turn up any references, though, so I PROD-ed it. Best — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 03:52, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

I removed the BLPProd that was on the article. A reference, albiet unreliable, was present in the article before you tagged it. The article seems to be purely promotional with no reliable refs to be found, so I added a Prod tag. Bgwhite (talk) 21:46, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the Sockpuppetry

I'm the person that nominated the Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords thread for AfD, and DRV, and I had a question about the sockpuppets. Essentially, is it possible that they have continued to sockpuppet? The following all posted in the DRV and Endorsed or commented (granted, most people have done those things), but the IPs all trace to close to Melbourne, Australia:

128.184.132.38 (http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/128.184.132.38 says it's a proxy), 139.168.1.162, 58.168.151.143, 121.214.88.239 (argued against the sockpupptery ban), 124.180.205.1 (IP traces to Melbourne specifically).

I don't know if that's meaningful, but I wanted to bring it up just in case. 31.220.203.74 (talk) 16:14, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi Chris, I saw your section on the adoption page. I was adopted by a user who went out of the country and never came back! I was at least 3/4 of the way through but would like another editor to finish me off. If you have room to take on another student let me know. Thank You. "Selene Scott (talk) 00:34, 10 September 2012 (UTC)"

Thanks so much! Okay here is the link,(hope this comes out) to my adoption page. It has all six assignments, the tests, and how I was graded. You'll get and idea of what area's I still need work on. We ended off on vandalism. I was just filling in the last two with vandals I just discovered in recent changes.I'll be here when you are done reviewing my work."Selene Scott (talk) 01:00, 10 September 2012 (UTC)"
see, I need to learn things still. sorry I tried to copy and paste it. I guess go to my talk page and go down the list and find User:Pol/Adoption/Selene Scott that should be my work."Selene Scott (talk) 01:02, 10 September 2012 (UTC)"

Freddi-Henchi Band

I Heartily Acknowledge your Refreshing Input & Advice! It is ACHINGLY OBVIOUS that I am a "Newbie" & in DIRE need of Constructive Input & Thus, I THANK YOU. Short "background" on My Pathetic Attempt ... A (qwik) Google search of my name gives a smattering of my background in the music business since 1968, & much of that Pop Culture/History has been sorely Ignored, Maligned, & Inaccurately Chronicled. After YEARS of EVERYBODY pestering me to "write a book" about those years, I have begun to do so, & have ecstatically found Wikipedia to ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL in Accurately establishing that History Of Events, IN (proper) CONTEXT TO The Renaissance of those & these "Times". The Freddi-Henchi Band (&/or) The Soul Setters, are Parallel to My career, & Also Lifelong Friends from 1968 through Today. They, along with Joe Walsh's "Barnstorm", Zephyr (w/ Tommy Bolin), Sugarloaf ("Green Eyed Lady"), Steve Stills & His Gold Hill Gang, Jim Guercio's Caribou Ranch Recording Studios, Barry Fey's various "Feyline" incarnations, Red Rocks Amphitheater (Jethro Tull Riot!), etc, etc., need be (imho) stitched together into a broader "Fabric" of those factual contributions to the Pop/Jazz/Rock Evolution in The National/Rocky Mtn Region. My thought is (was?), it would be easier to start MY "Wiki-Education" with the Freddi-Henchi Band, & then add the other topics, thus allowing me to learn how to reference & cross link ... WORSE than This, is my Pathetic Reticence to continue the TORTURE of writing The Accursed Book (www.tonyfunches.com), which Ray Manzarek did manage to Cajole me into doing ... SIXTEEN Yrs Ago ... SO! Now Ya Know WHAT it is that I'm up to. As I've ATTEMPTED to convey, Freddi-Henchi were The Band ALL of Us in The Colorado Music Business used to go & see/enjoy when WE weren't Working Gigs OURSELVES, so ( in that context), they are a logical place to start ... ? Sorry to Babble, but background info is essential to "understanding" motivation to act ... AGAIN: Please KNOW That I Gratefully Admire Your Veteran Input ... Adopt-a-user

Hi Chris the Paleontologist. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.

If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.

If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui  08:58, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Chris the Paleontologist. Thanks for agreeing to stay on at Adopt-a-user. I've recently updated the list of adopters and I have included you, per your original comments on that page and your comments at User:Yunshui/Overhaul/Adopters staying on. You can see your new profile at the list of adopters. Why not update your profile with an image and maybe have another look at your description? You can also include a list of any adoptees you currently have. If you are also willing to mentor problematic users, possibly as part of a conditional unblock, please include "mentorship=yes" in your profile. Thanks again for all your help.
