Speedy deletion nomination of Twice As Good 2XG

edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Twice As Good 2XG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hairhorn (talk) 00:18, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Twice As Good

edit

A tag has been placed on Twice As Good requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Twice As Good article

edit

I would first read the general notability guideline. If a topic fails this guideline, its article is likely to be deleted, so first make sure that your band meets the guideline before trying to write another article on Twice As Good. In the case that it does meet the general notability guideline, you would have to cite sources in the new article showing that Twice As Good meets the guideline (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for how to do this). However, because you're a member of the band, you'd have to be very careful to remain neutral (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest). As long as you remain neutral and cite some good, reliable sources, the article should be kept. Chris the Paleontologist (talkcontribs) 15:42, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your submission at Articles for creation: Draft:Twice As Good (May 12)

There is a complicated history here, that has taken me some time to understand.

In September 2011 you submitted Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Twice As Good. That was declined because it did not show how the band was notable. There is a notice above on your talk page telling you that, and saying "Please view your submission to see the comments left by the reviewer. Feel free to edit the submission to address the issues raised, and resubmit once you feel they have been resolved", but you did nothing more with that, and two years later it was flagged for deletion as an abandoned draft. That is the one I deleted.

Clicking on Twice As Good shows directly-submitted articles deleted in 2010 and 2012 by other administrators.

Now, this year, you have made User:Bluesmanpaul/Twice As Good and Draft:Twice As Good.

The 2011 version that I deleted can be restored if you like, but I see no point because you have the more up-to-date Draft:Twice As Good. That is the one you should work on.

You are evidently one of the band. One point I should make clear is that Wikipedia is not intended as a place for people to write about themselves or their own affairs. That is not forbidden, but it is discouraged because of the issue of WP:Conflict of interest - your interest is to promote your band, ours is a neutral and reliable encyclopedia about notable subjects. Please read the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In summary, you should not post articles about yourself or your band directly. Use the "Draft" route, as you are now doing, so that what you write can be reviewed by an uninvolved user. The message just above this tells you that the draft has been declined, but invites you to improve it and re-submit,

Read WP:Your first article and WP:Notability for advice, and the standard for bands explained at WP:BAND. What is needed is references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" that explain how you meet the standard of WP:BAND. Do the best you can and then re-submit the draft. It will not be deleted as long as it seems to be making progress, but it will not be accepted until it meets Wikipedia's standards. Be careful not to write in a promotional tone, or make unsourced claims: what is required is not opinions, only plain facts, neutrally stated and cited to reliable sources.
