Frank Worth

Hello! I see that you commented at the AfD discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank worth. That article has now been completely rewritten, just in case you want to take a second look at it. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 02:33, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

I think that was a good choice. I've put a note on her talkpage asking if she could tell us what the intention was, and suggesting looking at WP:PRIMER. Peridon (talk) 19:48, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Incomplete DYK nomination

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Church Of Latter Days

Thank you for a well-formed nomination statement that included a detailed description of how you followed WP:BEFORE. At some point, I will start giving barnstars for such exemplary conduct, but for now, you just have this blurb and my thanks. Jclemens (talk) 13:53, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

ElodieAndco thanks you, and asks some questions

Thanks for all your word crafting and edits and sharing of knowledge on the AnthillPro Article. It has been my intention to align the copy with the references, imagine my delight to find a wikipedia editor performing this function.

I have a couple of questions. The well meaning editor who removed all the capitol letters from the article, perhaps never heard of trademarks? UrbanCode does indeed have two capitol letters, I thought I was loosing my mind for a while there. The real question is what happened to the awards? Not that they seem to be important, judging by the articles that have survived and the ones that have disappeared. I assume that you or someone removed them, but couldn't find it in the edit history.

Finally, I have 8 wonderful articles from Gartner about AnthillPro, its features, its role in CI, CD, ALM, AMT, and DevOps, its competing products and so on. I will reference these with direct quotes, or at least more directly than I have demonstrated so far. As Gartner requires a pre-approval process for these references and quotes, I wanted to mention this to you. I must write the text of the quote and reference before I actually submit the request for approval. Since so many editors have been poking around in the article, I don't want to have an unfortunate situation arise with Gartner, because some well meaning editor deleted or rewrote something pertaining to the reference. Do you have any suggestions?

And finally, - to list or not to list... the --Integration with other tools-- section is missing citations, this because I have not decided whether to list all 60-something of the products that integrate with AnthillPro, or not. Fellow researchers have encouraged me to list them (in a table) because that is the sort of detail that we like to see. And, I have a similar situation with respect to the list of customers. Any thoughts?

Again thanks for your attention and efforts, I am grateful for your example. ElodieAndco (talk) 01:27, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the help on the Gartner articles and the tables. I didn't know about the hidden text. I had thought of a comment, but that seemed inappropriate. I added another award today, Gartner's Cool Vendor award, it applies directly to AnthillPro, I could add some explanatory text to the awards. I will have to revisit the awards again and add text to tie to AnthillPro where it exists. Meanwhile, thanks, I didn't see that side of the arguement. After all UrbanCode only had the one product, AnthillPro, until last year. 107.49.23.171 (talk) 22:20, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

  • I realized after reading the remarks on the deletion page debate that my problem was that I had actually read the Gartner paper "Cool Vendors in Release Management 2001." And the critic, had not. I realize now that the AnthillPro article will be better served by me quoting it (in several places) in the WikiPedia AnthillPro article, rather than just citing the award. To that end, I am wondering if there is a way I can share my copy of this article with you to get your input on the quotes I am selecting. Or, I can stage the quotes on my talk page while the details of the copyright permissions are resolved with Gartner. As delighted as I am to have such a wealth of factual quotes from the Gartner articles, I don't want the Wikipedia AnthillPro article to turn into one big set of Gartner Quotes...

Your thoughts? And thank you for your latest revisions. I have big plans for this article and this weekend.  :) ElodieAndco (talk) 19:51, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

How do I get the top notice removed from AnthillPro article?

Hi Chris, I am still working on the AnthillPro article, and I am wondering how it works to get banner notices removed. The one bothering me is: "It may have been edited by a contributor who has a close connection with its subject. Tagged since April 2010." --Since 2010? This article today is not the same one as 2010. What is the procedure? I notice that a couple of the competing products that were deleted, are back, much improved, and without any notices at the top. --can you point me at the correct procedure?

The article can always benefit from copy-editing. :) Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by ElodieAndco (talkcontribs) 11:59, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks Again Chris the Paleontologist

Thanks for your answers, thanks for your action. And, thanks for your patience. My work on the AnthillPro article continues (slowly, I know). I will also be updating several related articles in the coming months. --Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery !! and probably DevOps. One step at a time. Hope all your endeavors are proceeding at a pace that pleases you. ElodieAndco (talk) 15:34, 1 April 2012 (UTC) ElodieAndco (talk) 15:35, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Gunflint move

I see you have moved/renamed the Gunflint Chert to Gunflint chert, a simple (maybe) capitalization thingy. Could you amplify a bit on the article talk with your rationale and referenced support. I see it both ways in lit refs as well as Gunflint Formation. Is the Gunflint chert an informal unit within the Gunflint Formation or maybe an "informal" synonym? Asking since I really don't know and assume you have done the leg work already (before I spend much time digging :). Thanks, Vsmith (talk) 02:44, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Hey

Thanks for the help with the David Carol article! --HelloChicken (talk) 19:29, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Deletion review for Church of Latter Days

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Church of Latter Days. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

To: Chris the Paleontologist, and others,

12 April 2012

I am writing this letter to request that the "Church of Latter Days" listing be reposted. I am the person who submitted it to Wikipedia. This is a brand new church, founded in August, 2011. The reason it is not found on some search engines is because those companys require hundreds of dollars to put our Church in their listings. You can find us on Google however. This Church is based upon certain beliefs, one is that the vision that Mr. Joseph Smith, founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had of two seperate men in the grove is true. The second belief is that God Is female. We have not been in the news because there has not been any reason for our Church to be in the news. Anyone from the Wikipedia board that makes the decisions to delete can learn more about the Church of Latter Days by visiting www.thechurchoflatterdays.org , or they can certainly telephone me at (435) 621-2489, so I can answer their questions.

Please, I ask to all to reconsider the decision to delete this listing in Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.

Best regards,

Thank you!

Chris,

I understand that you are following submission guidelines. Since our Church has no "independent, reliable coverage" from news agencies or others, then I will need to wait. Hopefully, someone will want to learn more about the Church, and write about it also.

I appreciate the fact that you took the time to further explain your decision to me. Have a nice day,

Avitelmessus

I hope you don't mind my diving into your userspace draft of Avitelmessus. I did see a glaring error, however, and thought it best to clear it up as soon as possible. Jack Sepkoski's website can never be the source for a new taxon or new assignment, as it does not appear in print. In this case, the assignment to the order was made by Rathbun in the 1923 description, and the reassignment to Dakoticancridae (from Atelecyclidae, I think) was made 50 years earlier than your text claimed. Let me know if you have any questions. --Stemonitis (talk) 06:35, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

I know I'm a bit late getting to this (my internet was down for a bit) but I would like to thank you for fixing that error. I've since replaced all uses of that source with better sources. Chris the Paleontologist (talkcontribs) 23:42, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Ecolism

When you find a long, fairly well-written piece of obvious original research like that posted all in one chunk, it's usually worth feeding a sentence or two into Google to see whether it is a copyvio, as this was from http://myecocity.co.uk/ecolism-philosophy/. That gets rid of it quicker than PROD and possible AfD, though it's a good idea to add to the {{nothanks-sd}} template on the author's talk page a brief note about why it is unsuitable for other reasons, so that they don't go to the trouble of making a copyright release only to have it PRODded as OR. Recognition for Yelovichnus

  The Ediacaran Barnstar
In appreciation for making a new Ediacaran biota article titled Yelovichnus. New articles are rare in this field, and so is this barnstar. So please accept it as an encouragement. Yelovichnus was one topic I did want to write about when I joined up on Wikipedia, so I was excited by its appearance here. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:30, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
