Tag on the James D. Zirin article

Hello again, User:Chetsford. I was hoping you might be able to revisit the tag discussion here. I never saw any follow-up at WikiProject Biography or the neutral point of view noticeboard, and none of the involved editors have identified any non-neutral content or other reasons to keep the tag. I've tried in earnest to have it removed by seeking assistance from both involved and uninvolved editors, but the tag remains and I don't know what else I can do to help resolve the issue. I'm trying to be as patient as possible, and I hope my subsequent requests on the discussion page demonstrate appropriate cooperation and compliance with Wikipedia's conflict of interest rules. Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Jim Zirin (talk) 11:19, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

Clarification

Why would I seek Hat collecting by getting this little and merely important permission. Most of the users accused of collecting hats are often the ones who seek administrative permission as I saw. I'm frustrated that my statistics were never noticed unfortunately when my request was reviewed. I am now not seeking to change the course of the review but to clarify my intentions.--Sakiv (talk) 17:14, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

I have no idea. Your request, however, read "I've been here for 4 years and I want to add a new permission to my user rights." [1] Chetsford (talk) 17:21, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I am convinced that my request was a bit inappropriate and should have included more of why I deserve it. This was my first new permission request since creating my account.–– — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sakiv (talkcontribs)
Sakiv, don't be disheartened. Chetsford is a very rational person and if he finally decides you should not have the rights, you should probably re-apply after a few weeks of editing in related areas. Thanks, Lourdes 02:27, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Sakiv, I was unaware that you indicated you are feeling discouraged until Lourdes posted this message and I saw your userpage. I'm sorry if my decline of your request created stress for you; there is no reason for you to feel discouraged. You are welcome to reapply for this right (or apply for any other right you like), it's just necessary you express an actual need or reason for the right (beyond mere desire) as described at WP:UAL. All of the other characteristics of your account indicate you are potentially eligible to be a NPR and your participation would be welcome. Here are a few examples of requests which express a grantable reason [2], [3]. If appropriate, please feel free to make a new request immediately. Chetsford (talk) 02:47, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Military Intelligence Corps Band

On 1 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Military Intelligence Corps Band, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the U.S. Army's Military Intelligence Corps Band (pictured) had a jazz ensemble known as the Cannonball Combo in tribute to Cannonball Adderley, a former U.S. Army trumpet player? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Military Intelligence Corps Band. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Military Intelligence Corps Band), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Administrators' newsletter – October 2019

News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2019).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion, a new criterion for speedy category renaming was added: C2F: One eponymous article, which applies if the category contains only an eponymous article or media file, provided that the category has not otherwise been emptied shortly before the nomination. The default outcome is an upmerge to the parent categories.

  Technical news

  • As previously noted, tighter password requirements for Administrators were put in place last year. Wikipedia should now alert you if your password is less than 10 characters long and thus too short.

  Arbitration

  Miscellaneous

  • The Community Tech team has been working on a system for temporarily watching pages, and welcomes feedback.
