TemplateData is here

edit

Hey Carsten R D

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:57, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

You do a fine job, so please don't be discouraged. There are however very many rules on Wikipedia, especialy regarding living people. LinkedIn does not count as a published, reliable source. In addition, many users tag articles they think can be improved, not just for outright policy violations. Opinions on whether that's a good idea differ. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Ljan Church

edit

The article Ljan Church has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

modern church building--no reason to think its notable . No significant additional info in the Norwegian WPs

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Norway News

edit

Hello Carsten R D,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Norway News for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. MainlyTwelve (talk) 15:27, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Carsten, thanks for writing all those lovely Norway related articles, I must visit the place myself some time. I was quite surprised to see that you hadn't been made Wp:Autopatrolled yet, so I've taken the liberty of fixing that. While I'm here I've also set your account as a reviewer, just in case any of the articles on your watch list get covered by pending changes. Take care, and happy editing. Thank you very much! Working with Wikipedia for free does not lead to any other payment than bragging occasionally. I welcome you to Norway, of course. If anyone reading this has any suggestions for articles that should be written, it is also welcome. I have concentrated on the articles from Oslo and Kristiansand, where I have lived and live. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kampen Church (Oslo), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Church tower. @Linguist111: I really wonder what you want and what problem you want to resolve. Have you set prestige to keep the template? Can you not see the changes that I've made and actual found more credible sources? I create something you vandalize. So why ignore me so completely when I ask you to cooperate to make the article better, instead of this unnecessary tagging? Stop sending messages to me, let rather polite editors decide whether the references in the article are notable enough! Instead of threats, tell what kind of references that will satisfy you. Why not help Wikipedia finding sourses yourself, and when you're satisfied remove the tag? Or is it to delete the article in its entirety that is the goal you seek? The disruptive editing is what you are doing. In the tag the room for discussion is removed. The discussion on this page is closed. User:Carsten R D

Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)

edit

Hi. Thanks for your work on the Norwegian church! I was wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles to Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)? It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. The idea at some point will be to host a National Contest related to your country of interest. At present Norway is underrepresented and needs articles to put up! Please sign up on the page if interested. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:12, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Chruch of the Cross, Bergen

edit

A tag has been placed on Chruch of the Cross, Bergen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

G2, G3, G6. "To be deleted" is right.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Krigsseilerregisteret

edit

The article Krigsseilerregisteret has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No independent evidence of notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 12:16, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Fram: I see no reason for the article to be deleted. It has notability because that site is helpful to those who conduct research. For your information, many people who sailed on Norwegian ships during WWII were not Norwegians, and some also emigrated to other countries. The war sailors register has both a Norwegian and an English edition. I am convinced that there are users of English Wikipedia that need information that the website Krigsseilerregisteret exists. So why delete the article? User:Carsten R D (talk) 15:23, 7 June 2017 (CEST)

Nomination of Krigsseilerregisteret for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Krigsseilerregisteret is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Krigsseilerregisteret until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion [clarification needed]. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Fram (talk) 13:31, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Fram: I still don't understand why you nominated the article for delition. I need further references to the Wikipedia's policy, where you find arguments for your proposal. As you can see, I have added more sources, also independent, to show the relevance of the article. I hope you can respond to this here on my user talk site, to teach me something about the policies, that I can remember next time I create an article. As an Administrator of Wikipedia, you should either clarify why it should be deleted, or cancel the proposal. User:Carsten R D (talk) 16:41, 8 June 2017

February 2019

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Hotel Royal Christiania a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Flapjacktastic (talk) 21:45, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Flapjacktastic: Hi, I hope you can help me so that the move is correct. In Oslo the hotel is a dominant building, but I have moved the article with just a few and necessary changes. Carsten R D (talk) 22.15, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
