Image Tagging Image:Villanueva.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Villanueva.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 04:37, 2 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Venezuela edit

I'm looking forward to create the Wikipedia:WikiProject Venezuela. I had the idea of creating it when I first made the portal. The project will have the main objective of centrating efforts into a more complete information and a higher quality of the articles in Wikipedia, other media in the sister projects, and the portal itself.

I have observed your good work with the Carlos Raúl Villanueva and the Universidad Central de Venezuela articles. So, the motif of my adress is to invite you to join into the list of interested wikipedians in order to improve the quality standars of articles relating to Venezuela and its history, subdivisions, culture, etc. If you are interested, go toWikipedia:Wikiproject/List_of_proposed_projects#Venezuela and list yourself.

Thanks.

Image copyright problem with Image:Escudo yaracuy.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Escudo yaracuy.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Tascon list edit

Hola ! I saw the link you added to Sumate about the Tascon list ... should we discuss that on the Sumate page, or elsewhere? If you can write up a paragraph about the situation, I can contribute -- but I've got too much travel going on to do any decent original writing myself ... jet lag catching me coming and going! ah, I just found the writeup at Venezuelan recall referendum of 2004 ... can you add a description there of Comando Maisanta for the readers who may not know what that refers to ? Sandy 01:44, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hola, Caracas ... I just did large copy edits on the articles on Tascon, so please have a look at them ... I don't believe I changed any content, only worked on the English. Let me know if I should look at any other pages! Sandy 13:34, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Consensus on Chávez edit

Caracas, when you have time, can you review developments on Talk:Hugo Chávez and let us know which version you think we should move forward with, considering that either version we pick will need work? Thanks ! Sandy 14:17, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Epa, Caracas, an update, since I know you're busy. The consensus seems to be to work on restoring the Dec 10 version, carefully merging content additions generated in the interim. I've created a [To Do List,] hoping to assure that we cover everything. Can you have a look when you have time? Saludos, Sandy 16:29, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Foreign policy refs edit

Epa! I'm beginning to complete the refs on Foreign policy of Hugo Chávez, using the URLs you provided: can you check the Libya section and see if I got them all right? I hope I didn't mix any of them up, or get the titles or dates wrong. I'm working my way up from there. Thanks ! Sandy 18:46, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Caracas, I'm just trying to keep the edits cleaned up. I have no idea how much of the content written there is pure garbage, don't waste my time watching propoganda, and know that Flanker often has a unique view of things. My edits are only an attempt to keep the article cleaned up grammatically and in terms of Wikification. Sandy 20:40, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Golfer infobox edit

Hello! Thank you for adding the golfer infobox I created to John Daly, Hale Irwin, and Severiano Ballesteros. Keep in mind that the "Major Championships results" section has been renamed to "Best Results in Major Championships" meaning that the player's best performance in each major should be added. For example, see Tom Watson. In addition, I am keeping a log of all pages which use this infobox, so please add the ones you create to the section on my user page. Thank you, and keep it up. Fair use rationale for Image:Hugo Chávez (1992 Coup Surrender).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hugo Chávez (1992 Coup Surrender).jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 23:59, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Gaby_Espino.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Gaby_Espino.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:32, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

St. Maurice edit

Hi.. I see that you've been fighting POV driven vandalism on the page dealing with St. Maurice, and I was wondering if you can keep an eye on it and revert what you can clearly be seen as such. There is no reason to be reverting to some late rendition and 1 or 2 people are still trying to revert the page, one of them I suspect of wikistalking. Namely the user Egyegy. It is sickening to me that people resort to this and I was hoping that someone else aside from myself can keep a periodic eye on it. Thanx.Taharqa 03:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Antoni Maria Claret edit

Hello, his birth name is in catalan language: Antoni Maria Claret. As the article says he wrote in catalan language basically. But in some books translated the name into spanish because during the Franco's dictatorship the catalan language was banned. But his birth name is in catalan language: Antoni Maria Claret. --Saltamarges 21:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

So it's less justified to translate a catalan name to spanish name in the english wikipedia. --Saltamarges 21:37, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
No problem, but your behaviour is incoherent and insane.
For you it's perfect if the article is INCORRECTLY in spanish but you have problems if it is in catalan language, and then it must be translated to english.
What's up with you and the catalan language ? Have you problems ? --Saltamarges 22:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:40, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Teresa de la Parra.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Teresa de la Parra.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:51, 19 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Evil Spartan (talk) 19:51, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Acción Democrática.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Acción Democrática.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Revolution will not be Televised (doc)33m13s.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Revolution will not be Televised (doc)33m13s.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. File copyright problem with File:William_Henry_Phelps.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:William_Henry_Phelps.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris 09:58, 28 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Caracas1830! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pedro León Zapata.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Pedro León Zapata.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. --GnoworTC 07:15, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Epa !!! edit

Tiempo sin hablar!! It appears that you have been added to a sockpuppet investigation, with no rationale or evidence whatsoever as far as I can tell:

Looks like the only reason for adding you is that you have Caracas in your name and edit Venezuelan articles. SandyGeorgia (Talk)

  • Thank you for letting me know, but I have no idea what that means. (Caracas1830 (talk) 19:18, 7 February 2012 (UTC))Reply

OK, I'll try to explain. Caracas 2000 has made a substantial number of WP:COPYVIO articles, where he basically copies entire articles from non-reliable sources while translating them from Spanish to English. I was the one to discover this, which is why I was aware of the sock investigation. While investigating his copyvios, Calliopejen1 came across a previous, now blocked editor GJRFMorelligu (talk · contribs) (who is no longer blocked by the way but she didn't fix that, and I can't, since I'm not an admin), who was blocked for committing the same kind of copyvios as Caracas 2000. So, she's submitted an sock puppet investigation to see if Caracas 2000 and GJRFMorelligu are the same editor (which can't be determined anyway since GJRFMorelligu stopped editing so long ago that the data is stale).

Now, while Callipejen1 was cleaning up the copyvios committed by Caracas 2000, she came across your name, and wonders if you are the same person as him, editing under a different name. She provided no evidence whatsoever on the SPI-- she just speculates you may be a sockpuppet because you edit Venezuelan articles and have a similar name. Even though it's apparent that 2000 is not proficient in English, but you are. WP:SPI is specifically not for fishing (o sea, ella esta pescando, esperando que resulta algo-- eso no se hace, por las instrucciones de la pagina-- hay que tener evidencia para acusar).

So, your name will likely be removed there, but if she doesn't do it soon (which would not speak well for her in terms of WP:AGF), you may need to go over there and just enter a statement. There's really no need, since she has no basis for the claim you are Caracas 2000, but she has-- so there you have it. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Saludos, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:21, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Venezuelan Peso (1863) - back.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. 1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:58, 9 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:28, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article Bolívar_Films has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

How the West was Lost (miniseries) moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, How the West was Lost (miniseries), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Replaceable fair use File:William Henry Phelps.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:William Henry Phelps.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 21:34, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
