October 2020 edit

Hello CGOV. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Amanat Ali, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:CGOV. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=CGOV|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Ravensfire (talk) 16:04, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ravensfire: I have already mentioned in the help desk on Wikimedia that i am not being paid by anyone or by the Artist. If i was being paid then I would have disclosed it earlier. --CGOV (talk) 16:11, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

CGOV, that's good to hear. When someone claims to be in contact with official representatives, there's sometimes a paid relationship or at least a WP:COI that must be declared. It's not forbidden on Wikipedia, but it needs to be done in a transparent manner. Ravensfire (talk) 16:20, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ravensfire: As for the picture, I contacted him through his official email id which is mentioned on his Facebook page. asked him for a picture and grant me a permission to use it.--CGOV (talk) 16:25, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ravensfire Yes i agree with you and i have read Wikipedia first. Last week the singer Amanat Ali was on every Pakistani news channel because his of new baby born, i tried to search for him here on Wikipedia but couldn't find him so i went to edit the article. I am not being paid by anyone or by him and i am not lucky to be in his management. My main focus is to edit and make articles on Pakistani singers.

Great! And you did a really good job on the article, so even better! Ravensfire (talk) 16:25, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ravensfire: Thank you so much :) --CGOV (talk) 16:27, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Emily Austin (sports journalist) moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Emily Austin (sports journalist), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
