Orphaned non-free image File:Starstruck logo.PNG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Starstruck logo.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:26, 20 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Biodin! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Disney Channel Original Movies edit

I had to revert your change. Take a look at Disney's press release ( http://www.nickandmore.com/2010/03/03/disney-channel-disney-xd-upfront-2010-press-release/ ). I don't know why, but "Harriet the Spy" and "16 Wishes" are not being marketed as "Disney Channel Original Movies", they are just movies showing on the Disney Channel.—Kww(talk) 14:31, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

How is that even possible with the main actors/actresses are Disney stars and have their world premieres on Disney Channel? Harriet the Spy is unoriginal and I can see why but 16 Wishes? It's original and produced by Disney but not a Disney Channel Original Movie? Is there some standards to be a DCOM? Or they only market films that are predicted to be big hits with music and special people as their original films? I get really confused this time. P.S. Thanks for letting me knowJosh (talk) 11:39, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:GravityHN.PNG edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GravityHN.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File source problem with File:SGTSOct10.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:SGTSOct10.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. October 2011 edit

Please do not continue to upload files with missing or false information on their copyright status, as you did with File:SGTSOct10.jpg. Please note that Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Images and other media must only be uploaded if they meet the conditions stated in our image use policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 04:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vietnam edit

Hello Josh! I have seen you are from Vietnam and you seem to be a sport fan.

Can I ask you if you support Vietnam in all sports, and in particular in Olympic sports? The perfect thing would be also in sports in which Vietnam is not so good at, but still have athletes at international level :):)

If you do, I would like to talk about an Olympic Games project in which I would really like to have a Vietnam user in.

Let me know in your talk page, I will have a look in next days and I will try to answer as soon as possible. Thanks!

Mobis 182.177.68.163 (talk) 10:16, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thanks for asking. I do support Vietnam in sports. However, my "sport knowledge" is very limited because I have only been into sports for several years. May I ask for more details on the Olympic Games project you mentioned above? I will try to contribute if I can. Josh (talk) 14:51, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's nice! I would like to invite you on an international forum about Olympic sports, where sport fans from all around the world follow all international events in the Road to London 2012. We have fans from all around the world and we are searching for the first Vietnam users to support VIE in all sports and update us about them. Don’t worry for your sport knowledge, you don’t have to be expert, but just to be a fan Also, you will find all results and everything else on the forum, you just need to comment and discuss about them and, if you want, give your contributions to help the forum.

We follow all sport events, from Canoeing Asian Championships to Modern Pentahtlon Junior World Championships, and all biggest competitions obviously We provide results and users can post their comments and, if they want, contribute as they want to improve the forum and make it more international and complete possible.

I would really like to have you in as the first Vietnam user.

Are you interested to take part? Let me know. Thanks! Mobis ~ ~ ~ ~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.169.165.172 (talk) 15:09, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Perfect! I’m very happy to have you aboard on the forum! So, here is the link: totallympics.com As you see we have one section for each Olympic sport, and we have fans from all around the world. You would be our first Vietnam user so you will represent Vietnam on the forum. You have the chance to be always updated about all VIE athletes and teams and I hope you will help us in growing day after day.

You can register and start posting about all sports you want. See you on the forum and we will talk more. Thanks!

You will find all the information you require at what Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and therefore we should only add information that is of encyclopaedic value, and nothing more than that. We're not a news website or a personal blog for promotional material. Also click on the link for "advertising" that is in the warning template above, as that also outlines that is considered to be promotional material. WesleyMouse 10:57, 18 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Need help with translation edit

Hello Biodin. It's not uncommon that new editors add articles to the English Wikipedia that are actually not in English. So there are templated messages to notify them about Wikipedia in other languages. Usually those consist of a statement in the user's native language and the English equivalent, but there are still some templates that have only English messages. Could you please add the equivalent translation of the English message to {{Contrib-vi1}}? It should be placed above the English text. Your help would be very appreciated. Expansion of ABU Song Festival articles edit

Hi Biodin,

I'm writing to you seeing as you have a keen knowledge of the ABU TV and Radio Song Festivals. What I am thinking is to expand the articles further, by including articles such as 'Country' in the ABU Radio Song Festival, and 'Country' in the ABU TV Song Festival - similar to the articles we have for Eurovision, such as Morocco in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, I haven't a clue where to start researching for such articles, so that we have sources included in them. I did think about creating such pages but I have been quite busy with my education so I'm waiting for an appropriate time to start working on them (probably mid-July) Josh (talk) 01:09, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

That sounds like perfect timing to be fair. I have been a little busy myself, plus it allows me time to create infobox templates that are specifically designed for ABU usage. WesleyMouse 10:50, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Manual of Style: ABU TV Song Festival 2014 edit

Hi Biodin,

I noticed on the ABU TV Song Festival 2014 article that you used native text for some of the song titles that have been selected. For example 썸씽 as shown in this edit for the Korean entry, and also 熊貓 as shown in this edit for Hong Kong. Not everyone can read Chinese or Korean text, therefore we are to make sure we write a song title using the Latin alphabet (commonly known as the Romanisation equivalent), with the native text of the song places in parenthesis like these ( ) - this is in accordance to the manual of style policy MOS:ROMANIZATION. Please make sure you remember to use Romanization in future. I have attempted to convert the ones you've added using the correct format, although they may require double-checking to make sure they are written in Latin text correctly. Thank you. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. WikiProject Eurovision: Important Announcement edit

WikiProject Eurovision
Important Announcement

Dear Project Member

Following a project community discussion, which was raised over the use of English translation columns on annual contest articles, and advice from the lead coordinator of The Guild of Copy Editors, who are extremely knowledgeable in regards to all editing practises and manual of style policies. A consensus decision has been reached to fully remove ALL English translations, as such content falls under the prohibition on original research, even if it seems helpful to the reader. This is because we have now to assume that every reader has access to automated translation tools that can always give them a sense of the meaning of the title in their native language; it is not Wikipedia's job to provide those tools for the reader. Which therefore means we are no longer to include an English translation column, nor are we to provide translation by any other means on contest articles.

Such information is currently in the process of being removed, and a new table formatting and layout style is being rolled out across all articles. Please view the new guidance on table layout at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Format and Guides#Article layout. An example of the new table layout style can also be access via the collapsed section within this message. Thank you.

Music Weekly edit

  • I have provided a source below proving that it's credible and not a single-vendor chart? I'm not sure why the Slovakian, Filipino and Lebanese charts, for example, can be listed on Malibu (Miley Cyrus song) when they aren't even mentioned on Wikipedia:Record Chart. I also don't understand how you can say "no country listed recognizes it as the official chart", do you have a source for that? All I can see are double standards at play. This source proves that it's valid [1], so does this source [2] and this source [3]. (120.144.133.91 (talk) 00:34, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
@120.144.133.91: Do you have a source besides a press release put out by Music Weekly put out by themselves saying it's reliable? Of course it would claim its own legitimacy. That Bloomberg and Google Books result simply talk about what the business does. Just because it's a business, does not make it the official provider of those countries' charts. The page is going to be protected. You've been edit warring with multiple different IPs, which is never the right answer. I don't know why you think what happened on the article for "Malibu" is relevant here but it's not. As I pointed out, though, the IFPI is one of the biggest music industry associations in the world and they publish the Slovakian chart. Reliable. An offshoot of the official provider of American charts, Billboard publishes the Filipino chart. Reliable. I don't care about the Lebanese chart. I didn't add that or half the charts there, nor did Biodin. Ss112 01:33, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ss112: SO why is Finland's Billboard chart listed, that's not the official chart of Finland? Do you have a source that states it is not official for Southeast Asia? Why are there double standards? (120.144.133.91 (talk) 01:38, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
@120.144.133.91: It's not my responsibility to prove that. You want the information included. You have to prove the chart is legitimate. I've just told you a press release put out by a company whose reliability is disputed is not reliable, nor are sources that merely recognise it is a business and internet site. Also, yes, Billboard publishes digital songs charts for multiple different countries. It is not the official chart provider for those countries, but it is still recognised as a reliable source of charts (with a long history—that is not up for dispute). That's not a double standard. Ss112 01:41, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ss112: Point out the source that states it is recognized by Finland as an official chart, now that is your responsibility because you're claiming it is true. As for your last statement, it is a double standard. You're just saying that because there is a Wikipedia page for Billboard and but nothing for Music Services Asia. Just because you know nothing about Music Services Asia doesn't mean it's unreliable. Give me a legitimate reason as to why it should not be included, you have given me nothing so far. (120.144.133.91 (talk) 01:51, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
I didn't add the Billboard chart for Finland; that was Biodin. And no, I said Billboard has a long history as a provider of charts, not merely because it has an article (I only brought up the fact that a chart had an article for the SloTop50, which if it was deemed unreliable, would have been deleted or put up for it already). Music Weekly is an internet site that has registered itself as a business (hence why there is a Bloomberg business result and a Google Books business listing for it) and has no third-party claim of reliability (as in, a respected publication pointing out its place as a provider for those Southeast Asian countries). It put out its own press release (hosted on PRweb), that's it. I've already given you reasons, you've just refused to accept them. I'm not going to continue this dispute with you. Several IPs and Biodin have also removed the charts. Please take this content dispute to Talk:As If It's Your Last. I'm sure Biodin doesn't need all this on their talk page. I also would not be surprised if you worked for Music Weekly, hence why you care about it so much. Your IP geolocates to Victoria, Australia, and the business says it is located in Victoria too. That looks suspicious, and it wouldn't be the first time somebody was editing with a conflict of interest. Ss112 01:57, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ss112: "Several IPs"? Do you know how to count? There was only one IP that removed it and they geolocated to Hong Kong. Do not make up information, you can't fool me. You say, "Music Weekly is an internet site that has registered itself as a business (hence why there is a Bloomberg business result", then why does Billboard have one? I do not work for Music Services Asia, do your research properly. If you look at my geolocation for my IP address you will see I live in Australia not Singapore.
I didn't know Singapore (address 40B Pagoda Street, Singapore) was in Victoria? What are you talking about? Where are you getting this information from? (120.144.133.91 (talk) 02:08, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
@120.144.133.91: It's not looking good when you need to start insulting users and asking if they can count. Sure, it was one—221.126.8.18 (talk · contribs). It looked like multiple with the long IP editing history on the article. Also, musicweekly.asia says: "Contact Us: Level 1, 286 Mt Alexander Road, Ascot Vale VIC 3032 AUSTRALIA". I said your IP geolocates to Victoria. Ss112 02:13, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ss112: Apologies it happened in the heat of the moment. May I ask you where that information came from? I do not work for them, I never knew that they had an office in Australia of all places, I thought it was an Asia-centric business. (120.144.133.91 (talk) 02:15, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
@120.144.133.91:First of all, I was not the one who added the Billboard Finnish digital chart, I added the placement from the official Finnish download chart. Why is the Billboard chart still there? Because Billboard IS reliable and has clearly established their methodology through the years. It is passable, not that I actually wanted it to be there. Meanwhile, Music Weekly is not credible nor has established what they use for their chart. What are key stores? iTunes, Amazon? What streaming platforms are taken into account while a number of the listed countries don't even have Spotify? Does YouTube count? Exactly, we don't know. Which means their chart is not verifiable in one way or another while we have a general idea from other statistics how a song would place on Billboard charts because of their established methodology. Josh (talk) 02:18, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ss112: Right I understand you now, yes I agree it's quite murky. I tried to find some sources just a few minutes ago but I couldn't find anything that met Wikipedia standards. Their official website for Music Services Asia doesn't even work so I guess it should be let go for now until substantial reliable third-party sources can be found. Okay then, I can say that this discussion can come to end. I'm going to close the discussion on the "As If It's Your Last" talk page because I don't see any reason as to why that should continue especially since I don't see any reason for it to be left open. Otherwise, apologies for making those remarks against you that was completely unjust. Also, please believe me when I say that I don't work for them, I didn't even know that they had an office in Australia. (120.144.133.91 (talk) 02:44, 5 July 2017 (UTC))Reply
@120.144.133.91: It's okay, no hard feelings. Ss112 02:45, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please verify translation edit

Hi! I tried to make a (literal) translation of one of my favourite songs of Eurovision in Vietnamese. Since you say on your user page that you are interested in Eurovision, and also are a native speaker of Vietnamese, can you please verify this:

Hãy để ngày đi ngủ

Và đêm đó sẽ thức dậy ở chỗ của nó
Ai ca

Ngay cả bóng tối cũng phải biến mất

Để đêm có thể sinh ra một ngày

Thank you! — AWESOME meeos * ([ˈjæb.ə ət məɪ])) 23:56, 18 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Awesomemeeos: Hey, can you provide the original lyrics of the song? Perhaps a link to the song itself as well so I know the context? Do you want the translation to be singable or just a straight up literal translation? The current Vietnamese translation you have here is rough, but understandable, except for "Ai ca" which is a bit confusing in meaning.Josh (talk) 00:05, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I apologise for being unclear to you. I would prefer a straight up literal translation, although a singable one would be okay as well. Here is the original lyrics. — AWESOME meeos * ([ˈjæb.ə ət məɪ])) 02:26, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Alrighty; literal translation it is:

Hãy để ban ngày đi ngủ

Và màn đêm sẽ canh gác ở chỗ của nó
Dạ khúc

Ngay cả bóng tối cũng phải biến mất

Để màn đêm có thể sinh ra một ngày mới

Proposed deletion of File:StarStruck OST.jpg edit

The file File:StarStruck OST.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Starstruck (2010 film)#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:43, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
