Thanks
Many thanks for your input and trust in my opinion. I have added my comment about the article on the artist Thiago on teh discussion page. I truly believe he might have a potential in the future with a possible hit in the Latin charts. But its too soon I guess, although he has good materials I like. werldwayd (talk) 00:49, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- Werldwayd, as always, thank you for your help. Bgwhite (talk) 01:53, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Re: KiRaKa
Good morning. I noted your message and the reversion of my edits, undoing the edits your bot made to what I'd done. I think. Anyhow, the reason I was reverting your bot was that I had no idea what the heck it was doing and why it was changing something I didn't think was wrong. Now you have pointed me at WP:REFPUNCT, I won't do it anymore. As far as I've always been concerned, punctuation goes at the end of a sentence. Nothing goes after it. That's why I was complaining about the bot correcting my English. I trust you understand, at least I hope you do :) CharlieTheCabbie|Yack to the driver 01:11, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- CharlieTheCabbie, no problem, this is a common misconception. Different journals and different Wikipedia's all have their own style guide, so it can get confusing. Bgwhite (talk) 02:02, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- Why can't we all just get along? LorChat 02:06, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Who dared to revert my Corrections?
Revert one more. Plus, I can't get along with Lor :).
You dont get along with me? Awwww.
But in seriousness. I'm still getting used to my new Supreme power Rollback powers. Dont blame me if i screw up! LorChat 05:30, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- Lor Hmmm, I'll blame you if I screw up. Get prepared for alot of nasty comments. Sorry, but you don't have supreme powers yet because I have it. I think I'll use it on you... be prepared to be blocked. Bgwhite (talk) 08:21, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- And that's the story, of how Lor Was blocked. It was sad for some, happy for some, and most people did not care. But he was gone. LorChat 08:46, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
Anon. IPs vandalizing List of Cyberchase episodes again
Well, that didn't take long. The List of Cyberchase episodes page was protected by CambridgeBayWeather for several days to discourage the vandalism by anonymous IPs. No sooner had the protection expired than the vandalism resumed. This time the culprit is 74.108.84.174. The vandalism has since been reverted, but I would ask for your intervention once again. Thanks! --Jgstokes (talk) 03:17, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yep Jgstokes that didn't work so I gave it three months. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 06:01, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
BG19bot misplacing References section
Hi. Please take a look at this edit. Is there a way to have the bot recognise that {{airport-dest-list}} is not a footer template, so that it can correctly place the missing References section below the template? --Paul_012 (talk) 14:18, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Paul 012, first off, thank you for fixing the article. This is an AWB issue, so the question should be asked at AWB's talk page. But, this is also a case of garbage in, garbage out. Bgwhite (talk) 18:05, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Why did you revert my edits?
Can I know why you reverted my edits here, here and here? What was wrong in those edits? --Jayarathina (talk) 06:02, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- Jayarathina, you are using template programming inside an article. This is usually not done. You took an easy to update table and made something that 99.9% of all editors can't deal with. Either keep as a table or do a template. If you do a template, combine them into one as they all revolve around Lent. Similar to the one in Easter. Bgwhite (talk) 06:23, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. I will create a template. (Please do give an edit summary if you revert edits in the future.) --Jayarathina (talk) 06:37, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- There was no way enough space to give an edit summary. It had to be done on a talk page. It was done intentionally to ask a question. Bgwhite (talk) 06:44, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

For the sake of variety, the Harp Twins
Hi Bgwhite,
1. Something happened that I'm sure you will find super exciting. You see, for the first time ever, a band that Camille and Kennerly covered was shared by the official Facebook page of the band... and it's a huge band (at least in the tiny village they are from). Here is the feature. Please, do you think this is notable enough to be mentioned in some way, shape, manner, style or form in their article? Or not? If not, feel free to enumerate at least 10 reasons.
2. And although this other feature is in Spanish (also in Portuguese), I strongly believe it would be a great external link. We could sacrifice the YouTube channel in that section. It's a highly informative two-minute interview with them, conducted by EFE, while they were in Paraguay for the World Harp Festival. There is no danger of copvio since the website is MSN. Here it is. The only bad thing is that a pigeon flies behind them at one point, reminding me of pigeons I saw when the crowd of voices in my head was telling me to jump from the roof of a building. Anyway, please let me know if it seems like a good external link. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Dontreader (talk) 08:01, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Bgwhite, you know better than anyone else everything that I've had to endure for the sake of those girls, yet now they ignore me. I can live with that, but if you decide to ignore me, then that would really be the end of the world for me! I'm assuming you forgot to reply. Also, I'm sorry if the David Bowie video seemed too weird. Just a joke, as usual. Thanks as always, and maybe, just maybe, if you are really nice to me, I'll send you the CDs as a Christmas present! Dontreader (talk) 07:19, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- Dontreader, crap. Yes I forgot. Unfortunately, I forget easily. If you don't hear from me, always bug me. I will look and drool tomorrow. If you don't hear from me after Thursday, it is because I spent alllllll day Thursday with the mother-in-law and I killed myself. Bgwhite (talk) 07:45, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- God forbid. Please listen to harp music before and after the visit (and during the visit, too, if possible). That will calm you down. But don't show her the sexy Harp Twins poster you bought :) Dontreader (talk) 18:19, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- Dontreader, my wife already found the poster and burnt it. She is after all, the spawn of Satan. I don't think either links could be added. The first is a Facebook link and there is nothing that can be used. If the interview was in English, then I'd say add it. Is there another interview in English that would be helpful? Bgwhite (talk) 21:30, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- What a shame. The exact same interview is available only in Spanish, Portuguese, and also in Esperanto. However, I appreciate the fact that you checked what I sent you. I'm not hurting too badly because those young ladies have let me down big time. Luckily the Backstreet Boys (my true idols) have plenty of pages that I can edit. Block of 184.152.17.217
I see that you blocked 184.152.17.217 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) indefinitely for vandalism. It's the IP's third block, but it's still bad practice to indefinitely block an IP. Is there something I'm missing with this IP where the block should be indefinite? —C.Fred (talk) 14:21, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
Tables
What should be done with table of Sergej Maslobojev and others?. Master Sun Tzu (talk) 09:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Master Sun Tzu, it would be helpful if you told me what "done" means and go into details. What I did to the table: 1) remove redundant formatting. 2) remove the highly complex and inappropriate <div class="NavFrame">. This class is used to collapse material in templates. 3) fix broken syntax 4) removed having a table inside a table 5) fix accessibility problems. Bgwhite (talk) 20:07, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Table shouldn't look like this, we can agree with that. What should i do to make it look regular? Master Sun Tzu (talk) 09:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Master Sun Tzu, what do you mean by "regular". What are you going for? Bgwhite (talk) 20:21, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- This is how table should look like: Semmy Schilt. This is how table shouldn't look like Sergej Maslobojev or Dragan Jovanović. Shall I just copy table from Schilt's article and that's it? Master Sun Tzu (talk) 21:55, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm Mayank.94 You edited tibbia college page and removed the content why so please specify Thanks you can leave me a message on my talk page — Preceding undated comment added 11:40, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Mayank.94, please sign your message with ~~~~. Without signing, I didn't know who you are.
- The edit summary says unreferenced. You added a paragraph without actual references. You did add "references", but you didn't give the website and they are broken. There is no way somebody else can find your "references". Just giving the title and a name doesn't help anyone find them. You also did the exact same "reference" twice in a row, which doesn't make sense. Bgwhite (talk) 23:03, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Stop the presses! Mandarax is criticizing Breaking Bad!
Okay, so I was watching the "Bullet Points" episode of Breaking Bad yet again, and I encountered one of the few things in the whole series that has bothered me each time I've seen it. Walt is practicing blackjack with Skyler in support of his gambling story. At one point he says "This hand over here ... we have a soft eighteen. The final decision is whether or not to hit or to stand." Now, Walt is very methodical in everything he does, and he would know that doubling in that situation is a very real and potentially advantageous choice, depending on the count and what the dealer's showing. In fact, if he was trying to convince everybody about the whole gambling story, that's just the kind of move which would demonstrate that he was more than a casual player. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 06:55, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Mandarax, I'd never have caught that because I really don't gamble. I find it boring. I love getting together with friends for poker, but that is usually not about gambling. Blackjack is just rules and if you don't follow by them, the players around you will get upset. That does lead into an interesting story. I went with a friend to see his childhood friend. They now live on opposites sides of the country. The childhood friend had won a $25 million lottery a few years back. The are the nicest people. They lived in a small house and had older cars. You would never know they had any money. The millionaire loved to gamble. He would go on night gambling boat cruises. The boat would go into international waters for 4-6 hours. He would take just under $5k on a cruise. He gave us each $700 and said we had to gamble all $700, any winnings was ours... we came away with $0. He came away with $8k, all on $25 and $50 slots. He made just over $40k in winnings the previous year and $60k the year before. The boat fare, food and drinks were all comped. The ship loved him winning... the excitement it created and people trying/failing at the $50 slots right after he won... atleast that is how he told it.
- Fargo, the TV series is up next on my Netflix queue. Bgwhite (talk) 08:23, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm also not a gambler. Your friend's friend sounds generous, but he could have given you a bigger bankroll considering the 25 mil. I can tell you that in similar circumstances, I would not have walked away with nothing. I would have meticulously fulfilled his conditions and gambled the full $700, but I would have carefully set aside all winnings and not regambled them.
I've never been on a gambling boat. The closest I've come was in Laughlin, Nevada. All of the casinos are lined up along the river, and there are boat shuttles to transport you among them.
I plan on seeing Fargo again. I mentioned that it was good to someone who hadn't seen it, and we're going to watch it together. There are very few series I would watch again. But, unlike B5 or BB, which I could watch over and over, I think just a second viewing of Fargo will be it for me. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 22:45, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

TOC in Hawaii (disambiguation)
Hi. I don't know if this edit was (semi?)-automated, but just dropping in to say that the page was a disambiguation page. MOS:DAB takes precedence over WP:TOC, and WP:LEAD does not apply. If it results in problems, the best recourse IMO is to simply remove the TOC (since it is unnecessary anyway with only two sections). -- OBSIDIAN†SOUL 02:15, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- Obsidian Soul, it was completely manual edit. No, WP:TOC & WP:LEAD takes precedence over MOS:DAB. Where you had the TOC, those people with screen readers (ie blind) would not be able to read 3/4 the article. The way screen readers work, everything between the TOC and section header is gone. One's ability to read the article will always take precedence over cosmetics. TOC is only needed if there are four or more section headers. So, removing the TOC is the best option. Bgwhite (talk) 02:50, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- Ah okay. All good then. Cheers.-- OBSIDIAN†SOUL 02:51, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Bot edit
This edit wasn't very constructive. Could you tweak the rules to at least show the PMC number rather than "NCBI"? LeadSongDog come howl! 19:25, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- LeadSongDog, I don't know what you are talking about. Everything appears as before I made the edit. Bgwhite (talk) 19:39, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- The bot created a hotlink to NCBI as if that was the subject of the document at the URL, but in fact NCBI is only a publisher (of the index PubMed and of PubMedCentral). The text of the hotlink should normally be the title of the target page. In this case rather than create:
- it would have been better to create
- though even
- PMC1414653 NCBI
- would have been an improvement. Of course, we have tools such as Diberri's that would create a full cite journal entry, but that's a rather more complex thing to implement. LeadSongDog come howl! 20:49, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- LeadSongDog, I think you are assuming the bot (and me) is smarter than it really is. The bot doesn't know anything beyond what is on the page. It only sees a reference that is printed in the References section as "NCBI. [1]" and changes it to "NCBI" with NCBI now being an external link. All it does is it format the link "correctly". It can't look at target page to see what the title might be. Bgwhite (talk) 17:57, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Why would it rashly assume that NCBI (or whatever other text it finds to the left of the URL) is the title? Did this behaviour receive BAG approval? LeadSongDog come howl! 18:19, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- LeadSongDog, because NCBI was already being used as the title. They user hasn't a clue what NCBI means, thus it becomes the title. Behaviour is part of AWB's general fixes, which has BAG approval. Bgwhite (talk) 18:43, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see that one in Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/General_fixes, but it admittedly is an incomplete list. In any case it is wrong to wikilink the publisher as if it was the title. It misleads the reader. AWB operators remain responsible for their edits. Please exercise caution in similar cases. LeadSongDog come howl! 20:52, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- LeadSongDog, again, it is already being used as the title. It is already misleading the reader. Just because you know what NCBI means, it doesn't mean everybody does. Please stop with the condescending tone... "rashly", "BAG approval", "remain responsible", and "exercise caution". It IS a bot, it will do it again. If it was a manual edit, I'd do it again. Egads, as an editor, you too are responsible for your edits. Please exercise civility and not talk down to editors in similar cases. Bgwhite (talk) 22:27, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I assumed you know your way around here. Most bot operators are used to being taken to task when their bots make unjustified edits. If you think that is not civil, you may need to consider some different choices.LeadSongDog come howl! 02:13, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Copy-pastes, copyvios, and other issues
Hello Bgwhite, I've visited this page some time ago and you were very helpful, so.....I'm back. Just wanted to know if there's anything that can be done regarding a user who has been blocked several times at es.wiki for using sockpuppets. He is active here as well, creating articles that are mostly copy-pasted from other existing ones. I believe the following are one and the same user, plus some of the other ones mentioned later on in the respective diffs:
Active sockpuppets in en.wiki: [10]; [11]; [12]; [13]; [14]; There are more (others mentioned in diffs). The main problem is that he copy pastes from other articles or from the web. He also changes images without justification or does things such as [15].
Some diffs and articles in en.wiki: [16] copied from [17]; [18] ; (AllStar2), copied from [19]; and…..“Her sisters included Grand Duchess of Tuscany. Her younger sister Princess Maria Cristina, was the wife of the future Charles Felix of Sardinia as Queen of Sardinia. Maria Cristina's twin Princess Maria Cristina Amelia died in 1783 of smallpox. Another sister was the Queen of the French and the youngest was the future Princess of Asturias” in [20]; [21] (LyricsKing) copied from [22]. Artbunker: [23] partly copied from [ [24]; same as in [25] (translated from the German wiki) “He was educated at the French court, at the request of his elder brother, Charles I Louis, but was sent back to The Hague by request of his mother”. The problem is that he adds false references, copies, translations are not up to par, removes templates, etc. Not looking for any sanctions, just maybe let him understand that that's not the way things should be done. Best regards,--Maragm (talk) 15:43, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Maragm, I'm not sure on this. I left a message here about the sockpuppet. The copyvio is more tricky, but would be easier to deal with if they are blocked as a puppet. I haven't received an answer in the past ~12 hours. If I don't receive one in the next 12 hours, I'll ask some clerks directly. You brought a doozy. Bgwhite (talk) 06:22, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Maragm, the sockpuppet [[Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Daniel Tescione|report] has been filed. Now comes the hard part, combing thru edits. One place you said they copied from wasn't a copy. The website copies from Wikipedia. Bgwhite (talk) 08:34, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- I'll look into that since I don't think he is that fluent in English. There's another sock who was also blocked at es.wiki, and also this IP, also blocked at es.wiki.--Maragm (talk) 13:37, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Removal of Yaba Monkey Tumor Virus content
As part of a class project my students updated the entry for Yaba Monkey Tumor Virus. However, wikipedia said that you removed this content. I would appreciate it if you could tell me why you removed the content. I did have my students remove copyrighted images, which may have been an issue. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virologist1980 (talk • contribs) 19:53, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Incorrect reflist change
Your change here is not correct since the article already has a reflist included. Vegaswikian (talk) 17:47, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Vegaswikian, it will continue to to happen by my bot and others. Reflists are not to go into templates. It wasn't even possible to do until around this past September with a side effect of a Wikimedia change. Bgwhite (talk) 20:05, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- They have been working for much longer then 4 months. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:06, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- No. I may be off by a month or two. Your template is the only one that does this and I bet $10 it was added in the past ~4 months. Bgwhite (talk) 20:29, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

OC Transpo routes
I'm not entirely sure what edit caused this but the Black Routes (regular fare) section of the OC Transpo routes page has broken formatting. I would fix it but I wanted to alert you in case you were intending a positive edit. :) I'm sure it's just a small format mistake but the table columns for the aforementioned section are all skewed and every row (except route 1) has an extra column. Again, just letting you know. :) BigBenzino (talk) 22:42, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
- BigBenzino, in section headers, if there is anything after the last "=", it will not cause it to rendered as a section header. I changed
==Black routes (''regular fare)==''
--->==Black routes (regular fare)==
. If you look at the article before my edit, you will notice there is no "Black routes" section header. I didn't touch anything with the table, that was the IP before me. Bgwhite (talk) 06:56, 8 December 2014 (UTC)- Note take, thank you for clearing that up. BigBenzino (talk) 22:52, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Hello
Hello B, just wanted to know if you could do a history merge? --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 03:46, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Captain Assassin!, I haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope everything is going ok. If it isn't complicated, I'll try. I need to learn. Bgwhite (talk) 06:23, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, everything's alright, doing well now. It's not complicated, it'd be easy if you read the manual at Wikipedia:HISTMERGE, otherwise get help from a fellow admin on it. You have to start some day on this, better now. It's the Draft:Now You See Me: The Second Act which I've been contributing since September 10, but another user created an article Now You See Me: The Second Act on November 25. So I want an admin to merge the drafts history into the article's. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 17:24, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Why aren't you doing this? --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 10:47, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
- Assassin, hey, some of take breaks from Wikipedia. I know, it is crazy. On Saturday's and Sunday's I edit less. It depends on what my wife has in store for me. She says jump and I say how high. A word of advice, do not marry a former boxer. She knows where and how to hit. I need to get caught up on some things, but will work on your article late today. Bgwhite (talk) 07:03, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Assassin, done, I think. Bgwhite (talk) 20:21, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks B. Was it easy or tough (just curious)? --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 02:22, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Can you write an entire summary of the plot so and main details under the synopsis area instead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:C01B:89F0:4C1F:A767:8E14:8CED (talk) 03:26, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- I'm confused about your message, so I may not be responding to what you needed. Plot is often a separate section in book articles. You could change the "synopsis" section to "plot" and expand the section. Bgwhite (talk) 06:02, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Yaba monkey tumor virus
Good evening, Bgwhite. My group and I were assigned a project for our virology class, which had a goal to research a virus and add the information to wikipedia. We chose YMTV, and we spent a lot of time working on it. The professor needs to be able to read it in order for us to receive a grade on it., so if you could not delete the information we added, that would be much appreciated. If there is a reason you continue to delete it, we would love to know. If there is something that we did wrong or something that needs to be fixed, again, please let me know; we would be happy to improve it. Please let me know what the problem is. Thanks, from my virology group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by N8sheldon (talk • contribs)
- N8sheldo I cannot find the references you have given. You may or may not give journal names. I can't tell if some are book or journals. You use different referencing styles. Follow the same pattern as the ref that is already in the article... {{cite journal}} and {{cite book}}. Don't use HTML in articles, use wikicode. If one cannot find a ref, then text gets deleted.
- Example... Mercer, A. A., Axel Schmidt, and Olaf F. Weber. "Genus Yatapoxvirus." Poxviruses. Basel: Birkhäuser, 2007. 113-25. Print.
- I can't find it. There is an article by that name, but it is by a different person, a Geoffrey L. Smith. Is this a journal or book? I can't tell from your referencing style.

Would you like to explain what [54] was, in light of WP:CIVIL/WP:NPA? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:54, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Piotrus, do not throw stones. Drmies and I joke with each other, especially when it comes to football. Your revert was completely unnecessary and NOT in good faith. Bgwhite (talk) 20:09, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Your edit was litterally the worst thing I've ever seen! And, of course, I'm referring to accidentally replacing "Michigan-Ohio State football rivalry" with a user's name, and then forgetting to sign. No wonder Drmies tells you to &$^*#^ his (*$(#%! And let's make it clear that you're joking about American football. There is no joking about the other kind. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 01:23, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Correction, Piotrus--Bgwhite jokes with me, believing he has a sense of humor. :) Drmies (talk) 01:43, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Mandarax Arrrrggh, I keep doing that... one of these days I'll remember signing, especially after one of my joking posts. Frustrating. I see Captain Literally will be visiting you for your faux paw. I goto your talk page to get the link to the video and what do I see... that evil and vile Hafspajen sprayed all over your page. It's bad enough it is at Drmies' page too. Hafs and Lor are following me everywhere. I can't get rid of them!!! There is plenty to joke about the other football. Bgwhite (talk) 01:52, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Captain Literally would have no interest in this matter; while I've used the word "literally" litterally millions of times, I did not use it above. At first, I thought you linked to that video because an announcer says, "That man literally has a cannon for a leg." The video is very funny in a sadistic sort of way, and amazingly well produced. Not wanting anyone to stuff beans anywhere, but with over 14 million views, I'm surprised nobody's tried to create a Scott Sterling page (at least none of the probable titles I've checked). - Hafs, I just watched the last episode of Black Mirror today on Netflix. Long story short, it was about a gummy bear looking avatar taking control of the world. Why do I have the feeling of dread that you had something to do with it? Is it a dry run to usher in our new gummy bear overlords? Are you actually a gummy bear? I shall be sleeping with the lights on tonight....... Bgwhite (talk) 06:14, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Ok, if it is a joke accepted by both parties, that's fine. But you may want to use some template or such to indicate it's a joke; I spend few minutes reviewing edit histories and such and thinking over this should be reported to ANI... :/ --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:53, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
