Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:17, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of S. M. Junaid Zaidi

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on S. M. Junaid Zaidi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/94847-police-ordered-to-take-action-against-beggars. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. December 2017

  Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with S. M. Junaid Zaidi. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 11:23, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your actions in regard to the article about, and image of, Zaidi make it fairly clear that you have a conflict of interest. The text you have provided is, in places, more hagiography than biography. There is too much peacock text, "under his able leadership", "wrote two remarkable concept papers ". It's hard to imagine a more flattering article had he written it himself. The phrasing, which I've found on 3 other websites, suggests you've copied text either from those websites, or from a biographical handout provided by Zaidi, in breach of Wikipedia's rules on copyright. You state on the image's summary that Zaidi provided the image. As a posed photograph it's more likely that the photographer is the copyright holder and will need to licence it to Wikipedia through the WP:OTRS process. Your contact with Zaidi, and your assertions of his approval suggest you are being used as his cat's paw and so I'll add the standard COI cautions in a moment. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Azeemax. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article S. M. Junaid Zaidi, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 14:42, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, Azeemax, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as Comsats1994 (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Karak (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Ways to improve Shellee

edit

Hi, I'm Edaham. Azeemax, thanks for creating Shellee!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi thanks for this contribution. While reading through it I noticed several sentences which could be slightly rewritten for clearer context and a more encyclopediac style. I've accordingly tagged the article to attract editors, including yourself, to further review and improve the article. Many thanks once again. Edaham (talk) 17:01, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
