Hello Anitnepres. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Anitnepres. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Anitnepres|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 18:34, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

September 2021 edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:55, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Some advice from an experienced editor edit

A problem when you're working in an area where you believe passionately that the word needs to get out about these forgotten, neglected or suppressed topics, is that your tone suffers (from a Wikipedian point of view). Wikipedia's style is the exact opposite: we favor a flat, matter-of-fact "encyclopedic" style. Anything too promotional will be reverted. Anything which favors (or deprecates) the subject must be backed by reliable published sources with a reputation for solid reportage. Think Encyclopedia Britannica or New York Times articles: neutral, neither selling nor dismissing the subject. If I learn about a forgotten Asian-American science-fiction writer from the 1930s, the way I would write about her on my Facebook page or in a fanzine article, bears no resemblance to the way I would word a Wikipedia article about her. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:14, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the suggestions. I will be going through in the week or so and editing my articles to a more neutral tone as you have stated. I recently disclosed my employer in my user page per Wikipedia regulations, and am wondering how to remove the undisclosed paid editor flag from my articles? Do you have any suggestions for how to remedy this? --Anitnepres (talk) 19:17, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'd suggest a note on the talk page of the article, pointing out that you have now made the requisite disclosure. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:44, 16 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
