Segregate genera in the Aloeae edit

Since the World Checklist of Selected Plant Families accepts the genera from the splitting of Aloe and Haworthia, I have now set about creating/moving articles related to genera and species in the tribe Aloeae, including Aloidendron, Kumara, Aloiampelos, Aristaloe and Haworthiopsis. I thought I would leave you a note, as you've done so much work in this area. Peter coxhead (talk) 18:57, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Great, Thanks for letting me know. Very glad this is being done. It is much needed. Abu Shawka (talk) 11:52, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
If you're looking for something to do on Wikipedia :-), these are stubs I created that need expanding:
There's also a bit more sorting out of the pages and subcategories on Wikimedia Commons needed. I hadn't realized until I started working there exactly how many images you had uploaded. Great work! Peter coxhead (talk) 14:51, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Show tribe for aloes and related genera edit

Since most of the specialists in the area don’t use the broad APG sense of Asphodelaceae, and treat the tribe Aloeae as a subfamily (which would often be shown in a taxobox), I think it's a good idea to add |display_parents=2 to automated taxoboxes for aloes and relatives to show "Tribe: Aloeae". What do you think? Peter coxhead (talk) 18:06, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nice idea. I agree. I notice that people refer to the Alooids too (from Alooideae?) Besides, the family name is still being kicked around between Xanthhorrheaceae and Asphodelaceae and I have no idea which of the two is winning at the moment. Abu Shawka (talk) 11:36, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Asphodelaceae as a replacement (conserved name) for Xanthorrhoeaceae seems to be accepted. Yes, as per the table at Aloeae#Taxonomy, those who call the group the subfamily Alooideae can then use the English form alooids. We shouldn't use this form here, because it has been agreed that for flowering plants we use the APG approach, although it should be explained. There isn't an equivalent English term for the tribe Aloeae; I've sometimes used "aloes and relatives". Peter coxhead (talk) 11:52, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Angraecum ramosum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Reunion (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
