- Haha. This guy had obviously had a "drink or two" before I went to his house last night. We ate at a Thai restaurant and he talked SO LOUD about the weirdest things. It was so embarassing. After we left and went back to his place, he was pretty blunt and asked if he could stick his noodly appendage in my cha-cha. I "declined" and he told me to leave. I had already headed for the door. RE:Observation
I understand. Yes I have noticed that I have made too many minor edits and I will try to stop. I have been telling people about my mainspace edits (mostly User:Philippe) because they have asked me to keep an update of my work. Philippe asked me to always give him/her a notice every so often to see what I have been doing. I will take your advice. I appreciate your cool head. Thanks. Cheers to you.--RyRy5 Talk to RyRy 23:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm a thief
I swiped the MiszaBot template and the "I will reply on this page" notification from the top of your talk page and put them on mine. I just never think to archive my own talk page, and it really is easier to read a conversation when it isn't split between pages. I hope you don't mind, but I just thought I'd let you know. —Mears man (talk) 04:07, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm telling! :P I stole the reply notification from SatyrTN and Allstarecho added the MiszaBot feature for me. Feel free to steal what you need. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Blocking is a last resort
On AN/I, you said: In that case, should Taostiger be blocked now in regards to this comment and countless others where Taos says "we?"
Certainly not. Blocking is a last resort, not the default response when you think a newbie is breaking a rule. Newbies don't know the rules. The Taos High School situation could have been handled much better, with much less newbie-biting. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 18:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- FYI, read the Talk:Taos High School talk page and see how I actually did offer to help, several times. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:16, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's good. It looks like a reasonably productive discussion. So how did you get from there to threatening to block him on AN/I? Sure, he said he was acting as a role account. He didn't know that was breaking a rule. And he eventually dealt with it the right way -- people explained to him that one person needed to take responsibility for the edits, and he did so. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 18:31, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Um, was it I that first suggested blocking the account? No. It was apparent by the discussion on ANI that it was normal procedure. I've never dealt with role accounts before and as mentioned a few minutes ago on the the thread, the ANI discussion was originally about edit warring and removing templates. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:38, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Also, after I asked about blocking, I offered to help several times on the talk page. Look at the timestamps. User like you and Greg Comlish really need to get your facts straight before commenting about this issue. Taostiger had started discussions on several user talk pages as well, so the entire discussion is not just on the high school talk page. The main issue with the account was the lack of cooperation in editing and edit warring. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:47, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I can see that. Sorry for focusing on one part of one thing you said -- and you're right that it was a question and not a threat -- when you were in fact doing quite a bit to try to resolve the situation reasonably. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 08:15, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Raleigh Convention Center
Hey APK, I just uploaded a recent pic of the Raleigh Convention Center. I've got lots more pics but I'm still navigating Wikimedia Commons's torturous upload process. :) Check it out here Image:Raleigh-Convention-Center-20080321.jpeg. More to come! Jmturner (talk) 20:12, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I really like the Estey Hall pic, such a cute building. Thanks for all of the pix you uploaded so far and upload in the future. Much appreciated. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:02, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Also, check this out. It was a featured list on April 9th. I'm hoping to create a list for Raleigh in the near future, although since downtown Raleigh is in the process of constant construction for new buildings (and the fact I'm not actually in Raleigh), it will be rather difficult. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I like the these pix alot. I'm such a nerd that these pix exicte me. :P AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

- WOW, thanks alot for those contributions. I added the downtown pic to Raleigh, North Carolina and I see you already added the rest of the pictures to their corresponding articles. I'm going to write some articles for the rest of the pictures you uploaded. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:04, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

What do you guys and gals think of an article about the Church of Oprah. No, it's not a joke. (like the Uncyclopedia article). The concept of a Church of Oprah has been mentioned countless times, as evidenced by the google search. Do you think it would fly? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 07:06, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, earlier I looked at the first couple of articles in the google search. I think it's certainly worth discussing in her article, but I have trouble seeing it as its own article. It seems like it's just a phrase people are using to describe her popularity and effect... I don't know: maybe a section within the article on her? Aleta Sing 23:27, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

APK, I noticed that a while back you had added a sock template to the above user's page...it's since been removed, but the user continues to be problematic on articles related to criticism of Islam. Are you familiar with the history, and is there some further action that should be taken (i.e. checkuser or something similar)? Kelly hi! 19:58, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I added the SSP template because the user was making similar edits and summaries that Leaveout had made to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article. I removed the Ali article from my watchlist a few weeks ago to avoid controversial topics and debates, so I don't know if Zencv is still editing there. I recall other users noticing the similarities in editing, but no action was taken to investigate if Zencv is indeed a sock. Read Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Leaveout and look over that user's edits and compare with Zencv to see if you think a checkuser is in order. I hope that helps. Cheers. Anonymous User
Hi, I just noticed that I've been caught up in this Zencv thing - no doubt the machinery to check me out is whirring away as we speak, but I'm curious about something. How could my suggested additions that were contested, Movie Credits in the Infobox, supporting Flagicons on a "Response" page and civilly debating a citation that was written in different ways on different websites be compared to the poorly written Anti-Hirsi Ali writings of Zencv? I'm simply on the receiving end of a very obsessed individual.75.57.196.81 (talk) 22:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- My talk page isn't where your concerns belong. I'm not the one suspecting you of anything. My suggestion would be to talk to the person who thinks you are someone else. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:20, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Replied there. For the record you did exactly the right thing. I was commenting rhetorically, because I'd literally just e-mail Mike and said I wouldn't comment at ANI - and then saw the thread!! Hi Ho! Thanks for your help on this. Pedro : Chat 08:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

- Saw your note. If an admin is online and able to deal then that's best. But if they don't reply then take it to ANI. Better to be rid of the stuff and have a thread, than to have it hanging around. Again, many thanks. No doubt it won't be long before you have the buttons and can deal with it yourself....... Pedro : Chat 08:58, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
What do you think should happen to this article? It purports to be about the book, but seems to be more about Chevalier. Should I rename it to her and rework it like that? Aleta Sing 23:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Replacing Chapel Hill with Cary?
- (also posted on the talk page for the The Triangle (North Carolina) article)
In reference to your recent change: 20:58, 16 April 2008 AgnosticPreachersKid (Talk | contribs) (36,319 bytes) (changed to cary; the new CSA title doesn't include Chapel Hill)
Granted that the US Census defined CSA has changed from Chapel Hill to Cary because of population, however, please consider:
- The area was originally so named because of its location at the center of the triangle formed by the three major research universities in the area -- Duke (Durham), NCSU (Raleigh) and UNC-Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill).
- Chapel Hill is still shown as the third point of the triangle on maps at the official rtp.org website. (http://www.rtp.org/files/Maps/rtpeastcoastmap.jpg http://www.rtp.org/files/Maps/maprtpcounties.jpg)
- Cary is not mentioned in RTP's fact sheet (http://www.rtp.org/files/Fact%20Sheets/rtp_general.pdf) or in its History document (http://www.rtp.org/files/Fact%20Sheets/rtp_history.pdf)
Isn't the statement defining the CSA in the article section Cities adequate coverage of the differences between the area as defined by the government for statistical purposes and the area as it is historically known and as it is self-defined? Thank you. --Hennap (talk) 05:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this to my attention. To answer your question, the edit stems from a change to the North Carolina article where someone had replaced the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill CSA with Raleigh-Durham-Cary, which is correct since the U.S. Census has changed the CSA title. Cary's population is now over 127,000 compared to Chapel Hill's population of 51,000. That being said, I guess you are correct. I changed the CSA title in The Triangle (North Carolina) article (someone had added Dunn...no comment lol) and I figured that since the CSA title had been changed, that it was appropriate to change the Triangle city listings to match the new CSA. But now that I think about it, you're right and I went ahead and changed it back. APK yada yada 05:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Peace College Main Building
Hi -- you asked for suggestions about a hook for Peace College Main Building, a nice article. You don't mean for a DYK hook, do you? The article is too old or almost too old right now for a DYK, i think. I have only just begun playing with DYKs. Actually i just self-nominated one that I realize now doesn't yet meet the criteria (too short, truly a stub). User:Daniel Case is the man with a zillion DYKs, and active in the administering the DYK program. Anyhow, I am not particularly good with words, they don't emerge easily.... :( doncram (talk) 23:40, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- The article was in my sandbox until last night. I moved it to the mainspace, so it's still eligible. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:43, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I asked Daniel. All of my hook ideas seem too wordy and are probably too long. Side note: The NHRP project is really pwning DYK recently. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Good u've contacted him. Oh, i thought that was a typo, but pwning is a new word isn't it, a bit too hip for my vocabulary. :( About working in a sandbox and moving it out, I thought that wasn't allowed because the history is all there, and the age is thereby documented. So, for a recent one done together with Lvklock, Weippe Prairie, we worked in a sandbox and, when ready, copied it (rather than moved it) into a new article. If the way you did it is okay, then great, but copying is an alternative. And i suspect that is what Daniel does, because he comes out with completely formed new articles that have no history attached. Or maybe there is some other way to delete prior history, available to admins. Our Weippe Prairie is in the Apr 14 set of articles created in the DYK pipeline, and is my first try ever. We hoped it would be the only NRHP that day, but there are at least 2 others, one by Daniel. I'll watch here for a day or two, in case u reply. doncram (talk) 00:02, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Aleta and I created Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in her sandbox and moved it, similar to what I did with Main Building. It was a DYK, so hopefully it's something that is overlooked? :-/ AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think the DYK page specifically says if it's created in a sandbox and then moved into mainspace, the move date is the one that counts. Aleta Sing 00:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again, also I may not be as active during the next week or two so that I can read more on wikipedia policies more. Do you think I should read up more on these?--RyRy5 (talk) 00:55, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be a good idea. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Question
It's fairly well established that editing in user space doesn't count for DYK purposes. However, when nominating, it's wise to make an explicit note that it was moved from user space on [date], in case anyone gets confused by a quick glance at the edit history. - I've been keeping up with it. He'll probably find a reason to add me in his "rebuttal", even though I'm not the one who created the RfC. I might add something, but I don't know if I want to get involved in the RfC. I've seen enough of his bitterness and pointless arguments to last me a while. APK yada yada 06:11, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Couple questions
Hello there. With Satyr on wikibreak, I wonder if I might impose on you to ask about how one goes about posting to the wikimedia commons? I uploaded two photos, which they removed. I posted innumerable messages on the commons to ask what was going on, but no response. Any ideas how to make that work? Also, I would be appreciative if you ever have a chance to put those breaks into the William Jarvis piece. Again, many thanks! MarmadukePercy (talk) 19:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- What pictures are you trying to upload? Do you have the URLs so I can see? Also, I'll try to take a look at the Percy article. APK yada yada 19:20, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks. I uploaded two photos, both from the same source (another family member who gave me permission to use them). One photo remains in the wiki article on Leavittsburg, Ohio. The other, which I uploaded and posted to the wiki article on Suffield, Connecticut has been deleted although I uploaded them at the same time and noted they were from the same source. That strikes me as strange. Anyway, I would like to upload the photo of a tombstone to put back on the Suffield article. Thanks for taking a look at the Jarvis piece, too. Short WikiBreak
I have been house-sitting for some friends in Rosslyn, Virginia since Sunday. They also gave me the keys to their new car so I can get back and forth from VA to D.C. (I haven't driven since September, so this has been nerve racking trying to deal with D.C. traffic) I was driving their car and stopped by my friend's house yesterday at lunchtime. He's in the hospital, so I was checking his mail, taking out the trash, etc. I was in his house for no more than 5 minutes. I came back to the car which was parked on a highly-trafficed pedestrian street in Dupont Circle. When I sat in the driver's seat, I felt a breeze. I turned around and noticed the rear passenger window had been busted out. Of course, I panic. After I gained my composure, I call the guy who owns the car and told him what happened. He asked if they took anything. It hit me. I had left my computer briefcase and it was gone. Inside that bag was my laptop, cell phone charger, iPod (with $700 worth of music), and the wallet & checkbook of the guy who is in the hosptial. He gave it to me before he went into surgery on Monday because he didn't know he wasn't supposed to bring it to the hospital. I panic once again. I call the police and 1.5 hrs later, the po-po shows up. I was 4 blocks from the Dupont police building, so why it took that long, I don't know. While I waited, several people came up and asked what happened. Two kind elderly women gave me hugs and brought me a trash bag and duct tape to cover the window. Supposedly, no one saw anything. I doubt that. It was 12 o'clock in Dupont. Also, this is not a rough area of D.C. These are 1+ million dollar homes. Apparently, the same thing happened the day before one block over. So whoever is doing it is brave/stupid. Someone will eventually see them break windows and report the assholes. The car was dusted for fingerprints and I think the insurance will cover my laptop and iPod. Anyway, I won't be very active the next few days until I get another laptop. I've had to change all my passwords because my computer was asleep, not off, and wikipedia, yahoo, etc. were all open. I'm glad to see he didn't make any kind of stupid edits with this account. Anyone have a banner to add that says my laptop is stolen and that I won't be very active for a few days? Thanks. APK yada yada 11:41, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's awful, APK! Sorry to hear about your theft. I'm glad the insurance should cover a lot of it. Aleta Sing 12:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well that certainly sucks. Some people can be real dicks. I did find this banner that you might be able to use. It doesn't actually say that your laptop got stolen, but it does say that you'll be without Internet access for a bit. Hopefully the cops will recover what was stolen, or at the very least the insurance will replace it, and you'll be able to get back to editing in no time. Take care! —Mears man (talk) 12:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe the thief will be kind enough to add to the wikipedia entry on recidivism. :-) Seriously, sorry for your misfortune, and hope to see you back soon. Best,MarmadukePercy (talk) 15:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

If the police don't get him, the gay porn on the laptop will! :P Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm sure you've already thought about it but you need to get any credit cards cancelled from your friends wallet that was stolen and his checking account closed/noted/whatever from his checkbook that was stolen. Hope you get back soon! - ✰ALLSTAR✰ echo 15:59, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Aleta, MM, Percy & ASE. He cancelled his credit cards and notified his banks right away, so thankfully that was taken care of. After fidgeting around with my old, crappy desktop I have it working. It's verrrry slow, but at least I can check my e-mail and edit this site. I guess I'll take off the break notice since I can post here, just not as much. Thanks to whoever added it. I haven't checked the edit history yet. Sadly, GEICO has decided not to reimburse for the stolen items. My friends have to go through their home insurance instead. I find that odd since it happened to their car. Oh well, as long as I get money I'm happy. APK yada yada 00:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for your lost laptop, iPod, music, other stuff and all your friends stuff, APK. Maybe worse than the value of the lost items is the feeling of being violated. Some one has attacked your personal space, rummaged through your stuff, looked at personal info, and taken your friend's identity. It sucks. And it's a real pain to take care of all the paperwork in the aftermath. I feel for you. Anything irreplaceable or embarrassingly personal on the laptop? - Oh, you know the drill with these Meet-Ups - sit back, relax, and let others do the work. Out of the 400-500 photos from the Lucas shoots, I *did* choose the ones that I thought had mostly artistic merit, although there were one or two I uploaded simply because, well, sometimes I find the things I see really funny. One can only hope that whoever gets your laptop (I doubt the thief still has it) will have the common decency to post your "hard drive" pictures on Flickr or DudesNude (or similar) so you will at least get something out of it. (You did say you were an exhibitionist, right?) BTW, I'm thinking of visiting DC soon, maybe for the DC Meetup in May. Another BTW, are you thinking of getting a laptop with biometric security (fingerprint swipe required to access)? At least no one can access your data that way, even if the laptop disappears. Peace — Becksguy (talk) 00:55, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not even sure of the meetup location. I need to find out. My ex had the fingerprint access on his laptop. That's a good idea, but I don't know how much those laptops cost. There's a Best Buy in Pentagon City and I need to go check out some prices. APK yada yada 01:39, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
