Welcome!

edit

Hello, 200KCMS, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:King County Medical Society, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:King County Medical Society

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:King County Medical Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://kcmsociety.org/about-the-king-county-medical-society/history/ and https://kcmsociety.org/about-the-king-county-medical-society/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. {{Permission pending}} 200KCMS (talk) 17:09, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I would like to follow up on why we cannot be included on wiki. On May 26th I tried to release our information but got an email back saying, "determined that this content is not appropriate for inclusion in the encyclopedia." I am just looking for some clarity as to why this is the case. We are a non-profit organization and I see those types of organizations have Wikipedia pages often.

Greetings, I am still looking for some clarity on why we are not allowed to be included on this website. I feel like we have not received much of an explanation. Any light you could shine on our situation would be appreciated. 200KCMS (talk) 23:52, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Any organization - whether a for-profit business or a non-profit organization - must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria to be deemed worthy of inclusion.
To be considered notable, your organization must have already received significant coverage from multiple reliable sources that are independent of the organization itself. We have no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself, and Wikipedia isn't here to tell the world about worthy causes.
We cannot accept copyrighted text from your organization unless it has been properly released for use by the verified copyright owner. In doing so, you would be granting anyone in the world to copy, distribute, re-use and/or adapt your text into derivative works, free of charge and in perpetuity.
It is also a conflict of interest (COI) to write about your own organization, which we highly discourage. COI editing is almost always promotional, even if the writer has good intentions. Furthermore, if you are paid by the organization you're writing about, it is mandatory that you disclose this information in accordance with Wikipedia's paid editing disclosure policy.
Finally, your account cannot be named after your organization. This is a violation of Wikipedia's username policy and your account may be blocked for this reason. You must request a change of username to something that represents you as an individual. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:25, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, 200KCMS. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:King County Medical Society, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.  DIVINE  17:07, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Greetings thank you for the information. I do not believe I have a conflict of interest that would stop me from writing this. I am going to delete some of the history in the section because it can be hard to sight. I wanted to make a page that looks like this on, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_State_Medical_Association. So will keep it simple. 200KCMS (talk) 17:13, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:King County Medical Society

A tag has been placed on Draft:King County Medical Society, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account. Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a change of username of your current account here. The new username must represent only yourself as an individual and comply with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:16, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
