Entrants & Format

All nations were chosen in accordance to FIFA's world rankings for August 2010.


African & Asian Zone (AA Zone)


  Australia and   South Korea were chosen as the highest ranked AFC nations available.
  Cameroon and   South Africa were chosen as the only CAF nations available.
Nations play a double round-robin schedule.
First and second placed nations qualify for final tournament.


European Zone (EURO Zone)


All were chosen as the highest ranked UEFA nations available.
Nations will be drawn into four groups of four.
Each group will consist one nation from each pot.
Nations play a double round-robin schedule.
Group winners qualify for final tournament.


North & South American Zone (NSA Zone)


  Argentina and   Brazil were chosen as the highest ranked CONMEBOL nations available.
  Mexico and   United States were chosen as the only CONCACAF nations available.
Nations play a double round-robin schedule.
First and second placed nations qualify for final tournament.


Final Tournament - Group Stage
The eight qualified nations will be drawn into two groups of four.
Both groups will consist one AA nation, two EURO nations, and one NSA nation each.
Nations play a single round-robin schedule.
Group winners and runners-up advance to knockout stage.


Final Tournament - Knockout Stage
Matches are single elimination.
Extra time and penalties are played if necessary.
Semi-final 1: Group A winner vs. Group B runner-up
Semi-final 2: Group B winner vs. Group A runner-up
Final: Semi-final 1 winner vs. Semi-final 2 winner


Tiebreaker Criteria
Qualification Round:

  1. goal difference
  2. head to head result with away goals rule
  3. play-off at neutral venue

Final Tournament Group Stage:
