Sorry this has taken longer than it should take! I saw your message at the guidelines' talk page. How do you think talk page etiquette is interfering with revising the draft? I just think that while there may be some opinions about why parts don't work, there are not any clear-cut suggestions about how it could be written. I've avoided this possible solution partially since you authored most of this part, but do you think we could avoid the stage breakdown in this particular draft and just link to filmmaking? Seems like there is a bit of a tiff about what activities fall under what stage. We could remove mention of the stages and just string off the various activities in rough chronological order. For example, acquiring rights, writing the script, receiving a budget, hiring of cast and crew, location scouting, filming, editing, musical scoring, and visual effects. And ask to add noteworthy events such as delays, reshoots, financial problems, etc. What do you think? —Erik (talkcontrib) 17:21, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. My idea was to encourage the other editors to directly modify the (soon-to-be) famous paragraph, instead of having you (or me) act as interpreters. The paragraph that you've been modifying already could serve that purpose; it's just that most of us don't usually modify talk pages as if they were wikis! Shall I transfer the paragraph in it's present state to user:Easchiff/Sandbox2, or some other good place? We can then try to finalize it there, instead of in the original article. Cheers, Easchiff(talk) 03:41, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK Nomination

edit

Wouldn't the ref be better if it was more specific? I've changed it to the link that pinpoints exactly what films she's interacted in. Feel free to change. Cheers. Imperat§ r(Talk) 14:34, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for working on this, and I agree that the current reference is a clumsy one. When I used your link above, it gave that same "session timed out" result that you got yesterday. I haven't found a good solution to this yet; the Academy site is not very usable for archival purposes. I also failed when I tried to get WebCite to archive the page as it came out fresh from the Academy website. Easchiff(talk) 14:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah. Thanks for the confirmation, and good job on the article! Cheers. Imperat§ r(Talk) 15:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

removal of "advert" tag (I agree completely)

edit

In reference to this change that you made, to the article WebCite: (Removed "advertising" tag. Please discuss on talk page before re-tagging.), I agree completely. I was the one who made the previous edit, (right before yours), and although I had not been familiar with that article before, today it did strike me as a bit strange -- I was wondering how [how egregiously] an article about a free service could possibly have the "tone" of an advert.
((Sorry if I have placed this comment in the wrong talk page (e.g. if it should have been in the "Talk:___" for the article instead of for you). Please feel free to move it, and/or to comment, if/as appropriate.)) --Mike Schwartz (talk) 19:45, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the support. I have the WebCite article on my watchlist, and your change reminded me to follow up on the tag I didn't agree with. I'd previously put a comment on the anonymous, tagging editor's talk page, asking for some discussion of the issue. Since we didn't get that, I deleted the tag. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 20:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I've removed the notability tag, I think she does "squeak" in, but more references are needed for the information given in the article. The article does need more work, but could be quick to at least a C class. I've put the article under WikiProject Literature and it was already on my Watch list. --BSTemple (talk) 17:15, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

WP:Poetry

edit

I would like to welcome you to the poetry project; I have seen your work on Carl Dennis recently, and I hope you decide to stick around. Group participation varies depending on the time of year, but it is always nice to have an active editor in the fold. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to discuss them on the project talk page, and try not to be discouraged if you don't receive an immediate reply. I am trying to get an agenda for the project going, and I think we might be able to increase project activity in the future. Thanks again. Mrathel (talk) 14:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Conversation poems

edit

I can put together the background sections for the poems if you put together some of the rest. How does that sound? And should there be one main page discussing the conversation poems as a whole as per The Lucy poems and pages like that? By the way, I have each of the sources listed in your subspace and a few others if you need anything. Ottava Rima (talk) 00:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

By the way, I'm referring to creating new pages for the individual poems. If you only want to work on the section in the bio, that is fine and I will perform all of the work on the poems. If you just want to help out a little on making the new pages, that is fine to. Just drop a line about what you would like to do so I can prepare my schedule. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 00:21, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I started a user space section here and I am going to incorporate my sources and expand on the series as a whole at that page and then the individual poems on their own pages. I hope to create about 10k worth of content for the individual poems and create about 25k for the set page. I intend to add a background section about Coleridge's biography and purpose at the time (who he is "conversing" with and what inspired the poems), then have a section on the grouping, then brief summaries of the poems and their content, and then a section on general themes and general response to the series in terms of quality. It would be similar to The Lucy poems page and some others that I have worked on. After I get some of the bulk down, I will definitely want your help and opinion. Adrien Stoutenburg spelling

edit

you noticed my confusion! i was filling the red link and noticed the article. the dana gioia california source spells it both ways [1] pohick (talk) 12:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

I think Stoutenburg is correct. The reason that it was misspelled on the James Laughlin Award webpage is that the Poetry Foundation misspelled it on their webpage, and I'd just copied that listing blindly. I sent the Poetry Foundation a message to let them know. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 13:36, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
thanks for the catch, nice article too. (the conundrum of the mispelling in the verifiable source) pohick (talk) 13:57, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
thanks, excavating out of fashion poets like Constance Carrier is fun, and filling your awards links is instant notability. pohick - (talk) 15:45, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
thanks for the heads up about List of winners of the Wallace Stevens Award, i thought listifying the awards would make for good wiki. (the prize money alone seems notable, but AfD will tell the tale) pohick - (talk) 18:25, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Conversation poems

edit

This is the progress so far. I hope to finish the last two tonight. Could you create leads and wikilink, along with copyediting and possibly adding some more. I only used a few sources so I could work on them quickly. I have plenty more. The main page would also need summaries of the poems. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:12, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

It's a pretty photo that you uploaded of the building in Basel. I noticed a very similar one that was used on a commercial web site http://www.inpharm.com/pharma_company/novartis , but that site didn't give any credit. Is it also your photo? Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 21:18, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

WP:ACTOR-unbulleted list

edit

Hello, Easchiff. I was just wondering if you have any reasoning for this edit. The reason I ask is: I recently inquired about {{Unbulleted list}} (as compared to <br />) to Jack Merridew, a user familiar with such things. His answer was:

It produces a semantically meaningful list structure that happens to not have the default ornament hung next to it. This is better than merely breaking-up text with br-elements. See Semantic HTML. Cheers, Jack Merridew 21:01, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

His reasoning makes sense to me, but do you have a differing opinion?  Chickenmonkey  18:43, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm. I have been taking the lead from Template:Infobox_film/doc, and just copying that over to the Actors & Filmmakers page. I have not developed a critical opinion myself. I suspect you know more about this than I do, but apparently the argument about unbulleted lists raged (I hope in an unbulleted fashion) at Template_talk:Infobox_film#Problem_with_Unbulleted_list_template. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 23:17, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
No, actually, I have not developed a critical opinion, either (mainly because I do not understand the technical differences between the two options). I was not aware of that discussion, and I am not sure I even fully comprehend its direction; I have no idea if consensus is to use the template or avoid it.  Chickenmonkey  23:37, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, apparently the consensus was agin it. Since I'm trying to help editors add the "editing =" line to film infoboxes, I figured that I should just go with the flow there. I haven't studied the technical issues either. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 23:48, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
That makes sense.  Chickenmonkey  00:17, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Film director and editor collaboration: Proposed Addition

edit

Hi, Easchiff. Maybe you remember me as the Wikipedia user that caused you troubles in the List of film director and editor collaborations page. Well, first I want to apollogize for that and I hope I haven't create you serious complications.

I appreciate also my addings that you consider suitable. And about that, I was wondering if you there's any possibility of including the Werner Herzog/Joe Bini collaboration again. As current editor for Herzog's films, I think the work that Bini has done it's important. Maybe Grizzly Man couldn't be the best expample of it, but what about Encounters at the End of the World? The documentary received an Oscar nomination, therefore it has to mean something, I guess.

If you have anything to say about this, please, let me now. I'll hope your reply. Best Regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.100.77.200 (talk) 23:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

I see you are active editing poetry articles, and are active here in general, so you are probably at least as versed in policy as i think i am. However, I believe that Wikipedia:Non-free content, section on acceptable use of nonfree text, states policy clearly: "Brief quotations of copyrighted text may be used to illustrate a point, establish context, or attribute a point of view or idea...Extensive quotation of copyrighted text is prohibited." I know the section i removed MIGHT apply here, but I think it doesnt. I think this means we cannot quote entire poems. But, i may be wrong, as my research doesnt give me a conclusive answer. I have checked on the status of quoted poems in articles on Philip Larkin, Pablo Neruda, Allen Ginsberg, T.S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath and the poems The Second Coming (poem), Howl and Other Poems, The Cantos, The Waste Land, Pomes Penyeach, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Lady Lazarus, Tulips (poem), Ariel (poem). most dont have any quotes, the rest have partial quotes of whole poems, and Pablo Neruda's page has a quote of a complete poem, "curse" (i have inquired on that page about whether that is a copyright violation) . Fire and Ice (poem) doesnt say it in the article, but wikisource says its in the public domain, and thus can be quoted in its entirety. Philip larkin has multiple quotations of complete short poems, and again, i have inquired there as to whether that is acceptable. I think my edit was correct, but i see some ambiguity right now in interpretation, so i wont revert your good faith reversion of my edit, until we hear from someone else about this. i may post a specific question at a forum somewhere, but not yet. By the way, this extensive research i just did is mostly about my own process of education, and about the importance of not violating copyright, not about the relative importance of the inclusion of the poem. thanks for putting up with my obsession here.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:52, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
