Parliamentary elections in Croatia, or Elections for Members of the Croatian Parliament as their official name is, they are held, as a rule, every four years, for the duration of the term of office of members of the Croatian Parliament.
After gaining independence, Croatia held nine elections for the representatives of the Croatian parliament (in the years: 1992, 1995, 2000, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2020), also it's important to mention that the first multi-party elections were held in 1990, they are considered the first elections in Croatia, although Croatia was still part of the SFRY as a federal community - SR Croatia, because it was then that the Parliament of Croatia was made up, which later voted on the Constitutional Decision on Autonomy and Independence, Decision on the termination of all state-legal ties on the basis of which, together with other republics and provinces, it formed the former SFRY and the new Croatian Constitution.
Until 2001, parliamentary elections were held as The Elections of the representatives in the House of Representatives of the Croatian Parliament, as the representative body of the citizens, it had 100 to the maximum of 160 representatives. In the County House the citizens voted for three representatives from every county, and the President of Croatia could name up to five representatives of Croatia, especially deserving citizens. The elections of the House of the County were held only two times - in 1993 and in 1997. With the mentioned constitutional change, the House of Representatives became the Croatian Parliament, while the County House was abolished.
