Franz Hodges (born August 20th, 1995) also known as KFDOESIT, who now goes by Bleau or Bleauisnotcool is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, fashion designer and artist[1] from Palm Beach County, Florida. Since 2017, Bleau has been releasing a discography of independent music now totaling 8 bodies of work available on all major streaming services including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal (service), Google Play, etc.
The Boynton Beach native, effortlessly conjures WAV’s with a collection of flows from his catchy melodic auto-tune melodies to his profound trap modus operandi. Those and everything in between can be distinguished by his particular style which landed him not only on Complex Magazine’s Pigeons and Planes[2] but other well known platforms including Shawn Cotton's [1] Texas-based Say Cheese TV[3], Bryan Zawlocki's [2] Chicago-based Elevator Magazine[4] and other local blog sites like Citrus Rap,[5] Daily Chiefers[6] and Mieux Magazine.[7] Having performed among today’s hottest underground rappers such as XXXTentacion [3] and Xavier Wulf. [4] Not to mention linking in features from the likes of Smokepurpp[8], Wifisfuneral[9], and Max P[10]. This upcoming rapper is on the radar with Asylum/Atlantic Records[11] and has been out to break the net!
Early life
editFranz Hodges was originally born August 20th of 1995 in Haiti. At 8 months, he and his mother crossed over to the states for better opportunities in life. Having being a single mom the two would eventually end up in Palm Springs, Florida where his mother would then meet his initial father-like figure who later exposed the young prodigy to Graffiti, Air Jordans, and Hip Hop. After a couple years back and forth from the YMCA, an aunts house, and pre-mature street laced adventures while mom was at work, Frano began to reveal his foreseen talents as a young emcee.
Kindergarten - 2nd grade, Hodges was enrolled in a Religious school in Palm Beach County. Not long within this period of time, trouble and one too many demerits would stack up against the youth leaving him no choice but to transfer into public schooling. From 3rd grade on throughout high school he was exposed to a melting pot of cultures, friends, style and extreme sports. Clothes and skateboarding would soon occupy the young mind becoming 2 staple influences in his life today.
Career
editUpon graduating from Santaluces Community High School having dabbled in multiple medias offered in the visual arts program. Hodges took to his conveniently acquired skills including the composition of Photography, and Photoshop combining his own original artworks with the Lo-fi recordings that were soon produced with a karaoke microphone not long after a classmate introduced him to Mixcraft. With a practical self taught determination to create distinguishable music, the rapper would finally release 'Unfortunately' on Soundcloud followed by a Winchoz film [5] that would quickly gain the attention of Complex Magazine and feature on it's Pigeons and Planes 5 On It: Strange Waves series.[12]
"One day I woke up to dumb notifications on my phone most of them were coming from Artistic Manifesto, a blog I wasn't really familiar with, but then I saw the link they pulled it from and it was Complex. If I can end up on Complex making melodies in my closet I'm going to take this shit serious. Back when me and Wifi were cool, he had shouted me out playing it on Instagram. The Complex post was big for me."
Following the blog's noteworthy cosign, the down south rapper took his talent to Miami for Dope Ent's Dope Basel after being endorsed by Wifi on stage [6] to eventually opening up at Rolling Loud, one of hip-hop's biggest festivals.[7] KF would then accompany Wifisfuneral on his reputable Black Heart Revenge tour through Miami, [8] Tampa and Orlando [9] to unfortunately part ways with the local rapper. Since then, both have put out numerous projects and visuals with endeavors to put on and shed light on the city of Palm Beach.
Influences
editGrowing up Franz wasn't really allowed to listen to too much rap if it wasn't sanctioned by his Mom let alone anything with a Parental Advisory stamp ordained. Favoring mainstream pop and alternative rock for their catchy melodies, Bleau developed an appreciation for indie rock bands like Hawthorne Heights, and those similar.[13] Sooner or later he would venture off into the notorious genre illegally streaming and downloading music on the infamous file sharing program Limewire, at last studying and memorizing the epitome of Lil Wayne. Not having a interest in typical sports the teen developed a passion for a more extreme one, skateboarding. From the aerials and varials to the iconic streetwear Bleau would essentially gravitate towards artists like Pharrell and The Pack (group) who made it cool to embrace the peculiar hobby granted being an African American coming of age in the 2000's.
Bleau's World, Halo (2017)
editOvercoming the ways of the world and old habits, KF transitioned with a complete new image into a brand new entity in his very first major platform release called Bleau’s World following up with the premiere of the projects' most popular record, Bleau releases a visual for 'Material'.[14]
Within the same year Bleau also released Halo which happened to catch the ears of Asylum/Atlantic Records A&R, Sophie better know as Queenbobbypin.[15]
Tribute Boy, Emotionally Unavailable, Bleau Christmas (2018)
editIn the midst of getting kicked out of the house, Bleau was no stranger to the streets sympathetically communicating his understanding of it in the 10 track album entitled Tribute Boy with features from Svpa Dave and Routerunna RC.
After recovering from a break-up or with somewhat means trying to get over it. Bleau manages to string together a 7 song project Emotionally Unavailable By expressing his feelings into his lyrics, Bleau was able to successfully relate with his listeners and draw a connection through a common heartbreak story. Bleau’s unconditional love for his previous companion Wansaifla is evident throughout the spacy visual for 'Love Me Now Not Later' [16] but he confirms a lack of care for repairing the relationship despite his innermost feelings.
Recouping from an instilled love trauma isn't the easiest thing to overcome especially during the holidays where cheer should reign. Respective to the holiday season Bleau drops an EP self-titled Bleau Christmas. 3 jingles sought out to alleviate profound feelings for his ex-lover and for those who can empathize.
POP STR, Bleau Worldwide, Cyber City (2019)
editFancying more of a love for melodies Bleau exhibits his capability to challenge different sounds and vibes on his first release of the new year POP STR as well as on Bleau Worldwide. Steering clear of today's cliche mainstream subject matter Bleau aimed for the hearts of listeners which would surely touch those that could connect.
A year before transitioning into the next decade where Kanye or Oprah could be the next president. In Cyber City, Bleau takes listeners on a post-internet odyssey through his good, bad and ugly since being scouted by Asylum/Atlantic Records all while seamlessly surfing a futuristic wave that most millennials or generations after can hang 10 or 11.
