TT tags around username

edit

Ack. I don't like this change, and while I understand the reasoning, it's really not necessary. Is there a reason to keep this? Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 06:14, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. The <tt> is quite distracting in my honest opinion. --  Netsnipe  (Talk)  19:56, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's used so the font is display differently, because I l looks like I l in that font. Helpful identifying doppleganger accounts.

example:

with tt tags:

Notice you can't tell the difference without the tags.--Andeh 22:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the <TT> option makes sense however it should only be on the user name portion of the template and not the actual links portion. (Netscott) 20:58, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unblock option?

edit

I was thinking that in correspondance with the "block user" option in userlinks it would be logical to add an "unblock user" option. Thoughts? (Netscott) 20:57, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The TT thing

edit

Add a class to the tt tag, so that we can set in monobook.css what font is used when unambiguous letterforms are needed. --Random832 03:28, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

And while we're at it possibly throw in an unblock option? (as I specified in the thread above) (Netscott) 03:48, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Isn't unblocking handled through the same page as blocking, Special:Blockip? --Random832 16:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Names have shrunk

edit

The user name size has been reduced and I can't see how to fix it. Can anyone help? SlimVirgin (talk) 20:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

SlimVirgin, I've included code below that you can copy and paste into this template to incease the font size of names. The key part is the ' style="font-size: 1.2em" ' you can experiment with different sizes by changing the 1.2em part... between 1 to 1.3 is probably where you want to be. Cheers. Sorry to be so slow to respond, Netscott, but I only just saw your reply. Thank you very much! :-) SlimVirgin (talk) 09:53, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
No worries, we all get caught up in our wikignoming sometimes. Take it easy. :-) (Netscott) 09:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The formatting discussed above has been wrongly-implemented and the declaration used on the template is currently invalid, causing CSS warnings (and having no effect on the formatting) on every page on which this template is used.

style="1.2em" doesn't do anything – you either want style="font-size: 1.2em" or if you think that no font-size change is necessary (i.e. you want the template to look like it does now, since this version is broken) then simply remove the "style=1.2em" declaration altogether. (Anyone who does want it a different size can use a custom stylesheet anyway). Thanks – Gurch 08:47, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template doesn't work correctly

edit

Just noticed someone was trying to report a user at WP:UAA, but this template didn't work. Look what happens if I type
{{userlinks|Acalamari = Naconkantari}}
Example user (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
It just puts up "example user". Jackaranga 22:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
{{userlinks|Madigan = Sotiropoulos}}
I tried reporting this user as well, but it just brings up "Example User" instead. There should be a way to fix this. NHRHS2010 Talk 23:36, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use {{userlinks|1=username}} instead. ~ Sebi [talk] 05:14, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Found this related bug in the "bot reported" section of WP:UAA:

{{userlinks|2+2=poop}} shows up as

Example user (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). --Tckma 19:31, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The "title=Special:AbuseLog" parameter is now twice in the link. Please remove one of them. Could we add a link to the user's talk-page history? I for one would find that useful. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 21:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

@Pigsonthewing: Andy, I put a version that implements this in the template sandbox. See {{Userlinks/sandbox}}. As this 2-year old suggestion is stale, and there is no discussion of the pros and cons here, I'll leave it to you to implement if you want, as you're now a template editor. Pros: saves a click for users who would otherwise go to the talk page and then click "history". Cons: Makes the list a bit longer. – Wbm1058 (talk) 15:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Template Merge

In English wikipedia, there isn't Userlink and Checkip merged. As for convenience for using, I suggest for merging template like in kowiki. --Jerrykim306 (talk) 07:07, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

replace |bu with |<span class="sysop-show>bu</span> so the blocking option will only be shown to admins. --lomrjyo (public) (talkcontribs) 17:21, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done The code in Template:Userlinks/sandbox won't do what you expect; |<span class="sysop-show>bu</span> is getting entirely ignored because the = in the class name gets parsed as a parameter name. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:58, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
