Adding video link about Wii launch as it shows hard evidence about the reaction to the Wii console and how successful it was. 87.194.43.249 19:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Move

edit

Please consider moving this article to a better name, like Wii launch. -- ReyBrujo 18:43, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps it would best to explain why "Wii launch" is a better name. Just64helpin 18:47, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
First, because we already have a Xbox 360 launch, so for consistency sake. And second, "launch" is a more accepted term when describing the release of a new system. While I don't personally trust the Google test, "Wii launch"[1] has around 20 times the amount of hits for "Wii release"[2] -- ReyBrujo 20:06, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done. Just64helpin 17:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
edit

on the top right of the page there is "Wikinews has news related to: The Wii, Nintendo's next generation console, launches in North America" This seems confusing because Wii is now Nintendo's "current" generation console, not "next" generation. I know that is the article name, but perhaps that should be removed to avoid confusion, just my thought. Z3u2 16:45, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistency!

edit

Someone check the prices of europe, spain and italy. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 194.120.158.162 (talk) 02:32, 21 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

The UK price is inconsistent. VAT is 17.5% so $300 + sales tax = $335. So the pre and post sales tax prices are inconsistent. --85.210.32.94 15:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

What about straps?

edit

The straps story surely has to be in here?

Jennifer Strange

edit

Please remove this (or I will on Friday). It has nothing to do with the Wii itself, and none of the Xbox 360 articles mention the guy who killed his 2 year old daughter because over his Xbox 360 (which has more to do with the 360 than Strange's death to the Wii). TJ Spyke 22:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough. Similar omissions in other articles however are not necessarily a justification for its omission here. However, this article/subject area is not really my thing so more than happy to concede to those who have a proprietary interest Dick G 09:31, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Launch in other regions

edit

Is there any more information about the launch of the Wii in other regions? Did Nintendo issue a press release about that? --Baka toroi 04:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC) Hi in Singapore, many retailer preorder wii at a price tag of S$4XX. No confirmed date as of now. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.186.9.5 (talkcontribs).Reply

Short fall in UK

edit

I dont know if this would suit this section or the Wii article itself, but maybe it should be mentioned about the lack of supply in the UK at the moment, nowhere has stocked the console in the past 3 - 4 weeks, warrants a mention maybe? Zephyr

IGN recently wrote an article about it here, so I suppose that could be documented in the Wii launch article. Just make sure you add the link in the page along with the information. Just64helpin 18:27, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simple question

edit

Why was it launched in North America first? Brutannica 05:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

United States and Australian Bias

edit

In the Titles section the flag of the United States is used to symbolise all of North and South America. Why not the flag of Canada? Or of Brazil? While not a flag, the most obvious symbol which encompasses all countries in the region without bias is the seal of the Organization of American States.

As for Australasia, instead of using the Australian flag, why not use the flag which Australasia have used when represented as a single entity at sporting events?

Just a little question

edit

Does anyone know when the Wii will be realased in Argentina? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 200.45.183.132 (talkcontribs).

There will be no official launch for the console in Argentina, according to Clarin newspaper. -- ReyBrujo 05:49, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

gamefaqs as a source??

edit

i like gamefaqs, but its quite evident that it is extremly biased towards nintendo. every poll they have between companies is in nintendos favor. i think it should be removed as a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.60.106.216 (talkcontribs)

music

edit

Does anyone know the origin of the great music on the commercials? Chris (talk) 01:16, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are those launch sales?

edit

I think the Sales section is far too long. Half of those facts are not related to the launch and should be deleted. I will go ahead and do that now. -- Repetition (talk) 01:49, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

WTF is up with those prices?

edit

Surely the VAT in Brazil isn't 300%, and a Wii isn't $1100 USD. Can someone explain the logic in that price chart? Gigs (talk) 07:32, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also requesting a price check on Brazil's price, and Fiji's as well. 6667,89210 seems like a strange price. darkfeline 07:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyberdupo56 (talkcontribs)

Needs more updating and Fiji release

edit

Shouldn't this page be updated?

I mean, how do we know if the Wii is released in China or Egypt?

And what about the Fiji release? Is there really a Wii there? Needs sourcing. SaintFireMole (talk) 06:54, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Titles

edit

The launch titles table looks totally messed up. --178.12.53.68 (talk) 11:30, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
