OSU affiliation
editAs far as I can determine being a member of the OSU board of regents does not necessarily mean he was a faculty member, so I have elected not to add him to Category:Oregon State University faculty. If someone in the futures determines otherwise please add him. VegaDark 00:32, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
contradictions?
editThis page, the Pierce v. Society of Sisters page, and List of Oregon ballot measures seem to contain contradictory claims.
Here, it is claimed that Pierce was elected in 1922, and that as Governor, he passed the Compulsory Education Act.
But on the Pierce page, it's claimed that the Act was amended by ballot measure 6 in 1922.
The timelines don't match up. Also, it's unclear whether the KKK influenced the original Act, the amendment by ballot measure, or both.

Confirmation that Measure 6 passed in November 1922: https://sos.oregon.gov/blue-book/Documents/elections/initiative.pdf -Pete 01:54, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I suppose I'm answering my own questions. Pierce was elected in 1922, and his support of the Compulsory School Bill is credited as helping assure that victory: http://records.sos.state.or.us/ORSOSWebDrawer/Recordpdf/6777849 Only remaining question is the relation between Measure 6 and any prior legislation. -Pete 02:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
