Permission was given and sits on the relevant page, how strange that it can't be seen at the bottom of the page, it certainly is not invisible! Maybe your editor should put glasses on next time.

Utter rubbish re Copyright Violation! How can I / We breach our own copyright? we are both responsible for every entry Cristina Felea is owner of her deceased Fathers works to boot!. it is my site and my entries and my dictated works in Romanian and English co written by my Fiancee Cristina Felea who is joint copyright holder of all the pages on the website.

Instead of complaining, could you please read carefully the notice I left you at your personal talk page, and please sign your postings with ~~~~.  Andreas  (T) 18:08, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • No, the freewebs page says, "Internet Edition Created & Edited by, Cristina Felea & Peter James Acest site este construit de... Cristina Felea cristina.felea@gmail.com Peter James offin1157@yahoo.com.sg Toate contribuţiile dumneavoastră vor fi repartizate în pagina corespunzătoare. Vă mulţumim." It does not say that all content may be contributed to Wikipedia under the terms of the GNU license.

Another of the pages (not all of the cited pages) says:

"Wikipedia Entry
This page has been granted permission to be shown by said in its record on Victor Felea.
Bearing in mind the pathetic rule that the page has to be in English only, a translation for them will follow shortly, Victor Felea was a Romanian Citizen of some fame and his readers and friends do not read English as a first language. (Wiki's behaviour re this entry seems to smack a bit of racism, can they prove otherwise?)"

This is different from the version of 36 hours ago. An attempt has been made to grant permission to copy - I don't think it is good enough. It's a copyright matter, and must comply exactly with Wikipedia policies.

In any event, the main article space is NOT the place to argue. Unless some cooperation comes from the contributor, and soon, I don't see a future for this page.

I wonder why no effort has been made yet to contribute to the Romanian Wikipedia? That page, since its beginning in 2005, is begging for attention with the language, "Acest articol biografic despre un scriitor român este deocamdată un ciot. Puteţi ajuta Wikipedia prin completarea lui."

I'll ask Boffin57 to please read the following: Puteţi ajuta Wikipedia prin completarea lui. Cbdorsett (talk) 23:20, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Romanian first edit

Really, on an author who is most significant within the Romanian-speaking world, a substantive article in the Romanian Wikipedia should probably come first. - Jmabel | Talk 01:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clearing up copyright matters edit

Assuming that you control copyrights for all of the material on your site, and that you want to make it all available, the easiest way to clarify a copyright issue would be simply to state on that site that all material on the site may be freely reused under a GFDL license (with an indication of who should be attributed as the author of that material). If this is true of some, but not all, material on the site, you can do the same at the level of individual articles, photos, etc.

  • The other possibility is an email to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org, but in my experience that is the more difficult of the two approaches, because it requires action by one of the small group of people who monitor that email address, which can take a while.

Once that's done, it would probably be best to come to the Romanian Wikipedians' notice board or its talk page and make it known that the material is available for use. Then let someone who clearly has no conflict of interest take it from there.

In any case, take a deep breath: the issue presumably isn't to have the article up tomorrow, it's to have it up in a manner such that it will stay up. - Jmabel | Talk 01:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Romanian WP edit

I copied the biography to ro:Victor Felea where it can be easily located by the Romanian-language community. The next step will be to replace the text in the English wikipedia by an English text.  Andreas  (T) 13:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Birth date edit

The Romanian Wikipedia article says he was born both 23 May and 24 May. Any idea which is correct? - Jmabel | Talk 17:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

1923 [1][2][3][4][5] Andreas  (T) 18:22, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Apparently the 24th. - Jmabel | Talk 18:23, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The correct date of Birth is the 24th of May, not the 23rd of May Dr. Petru Iacob (talk) 18:23,29 March 2008 (UTC)

Translation: a tiny bit of work remaining edit

I don't know an English-language equivalent of being a referent literar for a theatre. I don't think we have them. Can anyone suggest a term?

On providing parenthetical translations of titles, I've stuck to the low-hanging fruit, because my Romanian is not so great, and I'm sure I've missed some nuances. What remains is:

  • Soarele şi liniştea (I think "Sunshine and quiet")
  • Revers citadin (I think "Urban reverse")
  • Sentiment de vîrstă ("Sentiment of age"??)
  • Cîntecul materiei (I think just "The song of matter")
  • Cumpăna bucuriei (perhaps "Balance of joy"?)
  • Gulliver (needs no translation)
  • De toamnă (should this just be "Of autumn"?)
  • Decorul speranţei (I believe this is literally "The decor of hope", but suspect it has more of a sense of "The illusion of hope")
