Removing Fight Record edit

Hi @2604:2D80:4434:0:7DA8:2815:E292:A861: while it maybe correct that the fights you are removing aren't Muay Thai fights, instead of completely removing valid fight information, you are better to sort the information into the correct section. If the section for it doesn't exist, then you can start a new one for those fights. NZ Footballs Conscience(talk) 01:26, 10 July 2017 (UTC) @2604:2D80:4434:0:7DA8:2815:E292:A861: why are you so despite to remove information, instead of removing you should be trying to find sources or putting tags on the post instead. NZ Footballs Conscience(talk) 02:43, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also I didn't create the page, I just wanted you to stop removing valid information. Rather than remove it you should try to fix it. This isn't my area of expertise but as you can see I have found information that backs up stuff already on the page which is why we don't remove and instead add tags or find references. Valentina Shevchenko (fighter)Valentina Shevchenko – After the cross-country skier was renamed from Valentina to Valentyna, there is only one subject under the name Valentina Shevchenko, and thus no need to disambiguate. Dancter (talk) 15:48, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose and move back dab page 15:42, 20 April 2018‎ Dancter (talk | contribs)‎ m . . (605 bytes) (0)‎ . . • Oppose. Valentina Shevchenko and Valentyna Shevchenko are just variant spellings of the same name. There should be a three-way DAB at one of these and the other should redirect there. Andrewa (talk) 16:46, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Between this and the above RM, it is clear that there is consensus to keep this article where it is.  — Amakuru (talk) 09:59, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Valentina Shevchenko (fighter)Valentina Shevchenko – Briefly coming active again to make this request. Per WP:Article titles. The "(fighter)" disambiguation is unnecessary. No other article exists with the same title, "Valentina Shevchenko." There are merely articles with different spellings, which the reader is informed of via a hat note. Even if the variants are to be considered, this article is clearly the primary topic, as evidenced by references. James26 (talk) 09:49, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose again per recent attempt to move. Same reality: Gbook hits are all for "Valentina Shevchenko, the chairwoman of the Ukrainian Supreme Soviet." or for the skier, not for the fighter. Just because en.wp is following a different romanization system does not make this fighter WP:Primary Topic. There clearly is no primary topic. And she is a (fighter), same as John Dodson (fighter) etc. It will not cause readers' heads to explode that a fighter with a common name has (fighter) on the article title. In fact it will help them. Also helps the dab-bot of course. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:04, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit wars (March 2020) Comment edit

Yesterday, some IP changed the ethnicity of the subject from Russian to Ukranian [1] citing this source replacing the existing MMABoxing.ru source in which the subject clearly self-identifies as a Russian. This article faced a lot of ethnic POV push, so I thought it would be better to discuss it here. Per norm we are supposed to write what the subject of the article self-identifies as. Pinging @CASSIOPEIA, Hart eartH, and Powderkegg: for comments. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:50, 10 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ricco Baroni:, Hi, [ MMABoxing.ru self claimed a Russian. Could you able to find other ru sources stating she is a Russian since you know Russian language. Thank in advance. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:17, 10 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ancestry edit

Valentina has described herself as being "Russian" in a Russian interview, but her surname and several articles have mentioned her being of Ukrainian descent. I'll put a note in the lead paragraph explaining the situation.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Clear Looking Glass (talkcontribs) 02:11, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Valentina Shevchenko (fighter)Valentina Shevchenko – She is the primary topic with over 2500 daily views. The other two people with the name "Valentyna" have under 10 views a day. Also, the politician and cross country skiier's names are spelled "Valentyna". The hatnote for the fighter's page should remain as is: "for others named Valentyna Shevchenko, click here". It is clear and obvious people are looking for the fighter when they search Valentina. Although this request has been made years ago, I think it should be approved now, especially since she has been a champion since the last request move and defended her title multiple times. Valentina Shevchenko is not from Peru edit

She has said it many times, she lived in Peru for 8 years but she is not Peruvian.

Loss via rear-naked choke edit

Not sure why people are having a difficult time with this. ESPN: "Sub (Rear Naked Choke)", CBS: Alexa Grasso def. Valentina Shevchenko (c) via fourth-round submission (rear-naked choke), WPost: Alexa Grasso stuns Valentina Shevchenko, wins via rear naked choke. Zaathras (talk) 05:45, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Who cares. It's such a small detail and it's always been through sherdog so we wouldn't get into idiotic edit wars over what specific KO or sub it was.
Also no offence but most journalists gets D'arce and Anaconda choke mixed up everytime it happens, so that's how much I trust them to know about this. Btw here is pics of the finish, you can clearly see it was on the face. [2] HeinzMaster (talk) 06:30, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Nationality edit

Guys you serious? Kyrgyzstani, Peruvian and Russian? She was born in Russian family, her native language is Russian and you called her Kyrgyzstani and Peruvian? I understand we're a nongrata country now, but she's definitely not Kyrgyzstani and Peruvian. She does have a Kyrgyzstani residentship, but she's 100% ethnical Russian. Armvch (talk) 22:36, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

A person's nationality, not their ethnicity, is given in the lead section of their article. Her ethnicity is described in the next section. See guidance here: MOS:ETHNICITY. Wracking 💬 22:54, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok, any evidence for her Peruvian nationality please? And why it's stated in that nonsense order - Kyrgyzstani, Peruvian and only then Russian, despite she's ethnical Russian? Armvch (talk) 20:27, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sources are in the article. Wracking 💬 22:14, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I checked all the sources, there is no any evidence she's Peruvian. She just lived there. That doesn't mean she's Peruvian. A lot of people live in another country for some time, this does not change their nationality in any way. Armvch (talk) 09:14, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
