Vandalism

Namesake for the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico

The attribution of the namesake of the city of Ponce is incorrect.

From the Wikipedia entry on Juan Ponce de Leon y Loayza: "Juan Ponce de León y Loayza (born San Juan, Puerto Rico)[1] was the son of Juan Ponce de León II (born Juan Troche-Ponce de León), an interim Spanish governor of Puerto Rico in 1579. His mother was Isabel de Loayza born in Villa Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, Spain, the daughter of Governor Inigo Lopez de Cervantes y Loayza.[2][3] The city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, was named after Juan Ponce de León y Loayza."

From the Wikipedia entry on Ponce, Puerto Rico: "The city is named after Juan Ponce de León y Loayza,[18][19] the great-grandson of Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León.[20]"

reverts

At this edit, IP Editor 62.254.11.41 added text purportedly supported by a url in the edit summary https://youtube/K1icOmPx__g. On my browser, that url gets an error message: This site can’t be reached DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN. Fidgeting with that I get this url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1icOmPx__g which, indeed shows some sort of hulk being towed. The hull numbers on the port and starboard bows have been painted out so positive identity is difficult. There is overlay text in the video that asserts that the hulk is Ponce. There is nothing in the video or the accompanying description that indicates that the hulk is being towed to Texas in 2022 as IP Editor's edit claims. So I reverted as an unsupported edit.

Shortly thereafter, IP Editor reverted my revert with the edit summary https://youtube/K1icOmPx__g Watch the video before reverting back to your false info asshole. Again, this edit summary uses the same malformed url and IP Editor resorts to argumentum ad hominem.

IP Editor's edit should be reverted because the supplied source doesn't support the added text.

I just found this site, all be it not likely official enough, https://www.navysite.de/ships/lpd15.htm#:~:text=Decommissioned%20on%20October%2014%2C%202017,%2C%20Tx.%2C%20for%20scrapping in that they do quote: Decommissioned on October 14, 2017, and stricken from the Navy list on November 13, 2017, PONCE spent the following years laid up at Philadelphia, Penn. On April 12, 2022, she arrived under tow at All Star Metals, Brownsville, Tx., for scrapping.

not sure if this would be a reliable enough of a reference. The dates would for sure line up in that if the ship was towed out as of march 24th 2022, as that video indicates, and with it arriving April 12 2022, that period of time would sync up with it being towed that distance. - Just an observation.
