There are plenty of reliable sources for the idea originating from both Sir Percy Fitzpatrick and Edward George Honey (and one even suggesting Fitzpatrick passed Honey's idea on). This article should not be solely focused on one point of view, it is unbalanced as it stands as is the Edward George Honey article. Wikipedia is not supposed to take sides or have conflicting information in different articles. HelenOnline 10:25, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

While the BBC claims that the idea actually came from a Robert Rutherford Brydone, who isn't even mentioned in the article. -Droigheann (talk) 23:06, 11 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Found and added what seems like reliable information about Brydone, which appears to be corroborated in several versions of the story. Unless something concrete in an original source can be found to make a direct link between Honey and Fitzpatrick, it seems much less likely that his letter to the newspaper was a major driver for the establishment of this tradition. Sir Percy would have been very familiar with the silence practised in Cape Town on a daily basis for that last year of the war.Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:20, 12 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
