Should this be Transportation in Portland, Oregon? That's the category name. agreed; i think troutdale should be included there. i might just go add it. i think mcnary was put in like it was because (apparently) it is considered for offloading pdx air traffic or something. doesnt mean troutdale should be left off though. i should dig up some info on the seaport as well, that should get mention! History

What about an historical section. Portland once had the most extensive commuter rail system in the western U.S. The Sellwood neighborhood was specifically built as a working-class neighborhood because with rail, people could get from there to the SE industrial area to work.

NPOV In Yellow Bike Section

After a series of NPOV questionable edits, I added teh POV-check tag to the yellow bike section. I'm not quite knowlegeable enough about the subject to know for sure if the section is bias and unencyclopedic, but reading the section I find that very little information was conveyed to me in the first place, and that I still have very little idea of what the project was, or why it was, or why it's one of only two sections under cycling.

The section needs to be cleaned up, inspected for NPOV and trimmed down to the information which is encyclopedic. JordanRL (talk) 01:52, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

yeah, thats cool. no problem. i was kinda unhappy with the virgin vacations one anyway. i just added 2 links back in for the bicycling magazine 2006 and 2008 picks. bicycling has the 2008 article on their website, so that is direct, skipping the bikeportland.org intermediate step. however, i could not find the 2006 article on their website, but bikeportland.org has a scan of the magazine itself. i am fine if you (or anyone) wants to axe the 2006 reference altogether, since i think there are enough sources and the 2008 article mentions portland being in the 2006 survey as well. thanks! The Pedicabs section reads like an ad for the two companies mentioned, even going so far as to cite those corporate websites. Is there any actual citeable information here? Tedernst | talk 23:17, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Misleading Commute Numbers or Did the Census Change Statistical Methods?

Currently the article states:

"Portland's rate of public transit use (12.6% of commutes in 2008) is comparable to much larger cities like Los Angeles, and higher than in most similarly sized U.S. cities, but is lower than in some similarly sized cities, such as Baltimore and Seattle.[3]"

The current citation points to a dead link: "American Community Survey 2006, Table S0802". U.S. Census Bureau. http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/STGeoSearchByListServlet?ds_name=ACS_2008_1YR_G00_

A google search brings up this more recent ACS document: http://www.census.gov/prod/2010pubs/acsbr09-5.pdf In that doc I can't find a number close to 12.6%. In fact the recent numbers for Portland are around 6.1% of commutes (although PDX's number is still comparable to Los Angeles's number of 6.4%).
