I'll try to at some point. I generally find that tagging things is better than just sticking them on my watchlist, it means that it's flagged for everyone then. Chris Cunningham 13:06, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tortoiseshell materialTortoiseshell – Should be primary - none of the other "tortoiseshells", like the butterfly species, cats, or guinea pigs, can be referred to without context by the plain term. If this is not agreed, should be moved to Tortoiseshell (material) per usual disam rules for titles. "What links here" at Tortoiseshell (disambiguation) also suggests the material is primary. Why? That is clearly not the common name for it, or indeed a name ever used at all. Best to keep biological and material articles apart, and not all tortoise shell has been from turtles (as the word is used outside science). Johnbod (talk) 10:40, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
All tortoise shells are turtle shells, as covered by our Wikipedia article. Whither land or aquatic, etc, we have one article on the topic of the shells of tortoises, and that's "turtle shell". The material is derived from such shells, so tortoiseshell (material) would be much better, with the biological being the stop for the plain name. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 21:15, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
The single word only relates to the material; the biological shell is never called "tortoiseshell". Johnbod (talk) 03:18, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
