I put a lot of information here copied from the index of the 9th edition of Eminent Scots. It is untidy to say the least as it came via OCR and has not been proofread. The visual editor should be good for fixing links as it offers suggestions. I thought it would be easier to do it this way and edit it because of the Wikipedia tools. I apologise if the way I've transferred the information sends links to disambiguation pages or to the wrong pages. I hope the benefits outweigh the disturbances. Hopefully Wikipedians will find both the articles and the sources valuable in editing Wikipedia biographies.
