Disambig Thomas Hendricks
editI would like to disambig the article Thomas Hendricks. And have it link to both Thomas A. Hendricks and Thomas Hendricks Sr (Thomas Andrew's Uncle, a senator and congressman and prominent Hoosier). If there are no objections I will do that tomorrow. Cool10191 (talk) 12:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I decided against a disambig since T A Hendricks is far more notable than his uncle, however I have added a DAB to the top of the page for clarification. Charles Edward 22:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Questions
editThe New York Times reported on 11/26/1885 that Hendricks died around 5:00 p.m., not "that night." Also, the NYT reported on 12/1/1885 that President Cleveland did not attend the funeral. Apparently Congressional leaders heard about a death threat against Cleveland and convinced him not to attend. The NYT stated that former Pres. Hayes attended the funeral. If you have sources, please feel free to update the information and cite them, or link to the sources here and I would be glad to do that. Charles Edward 01:45, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- My sources are the New York Times online database for 11/26/1885 and 12/1/1885. However, I think it would be good to allow others to give sources for the information that is currently in the article in case it is based on better information. Chronicler3 (talk) 11:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- I just searched a newspaper online database. There are 200 newspaper articles from around the nation on Hendricks's death and funeral. Most have similar information; the following are some samples.
- The Rocky Mountain News in Denver CO and the Boston Daily Advertiser stated on 11/26/1885 that Hendricks died at 4:45 p.m. The New York Freeman said on 11/28/1885 that Hendricks died at 5:00 p.m.
- The St. Louis Globe-Democrat stated on 12/3/1885 that President Cleveland's "excuse for staying away [from the funeral] has certainly given foreign critics an excellent opportunity for unfavorable comment..." The Rocky Mountain News stated on 12/2/1885 that a U.S. Senator delivered a letter of condolences from President Cleveland to Hendricks's widow. Chronicler3 (talk) 11:37, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

does this really belong here?
edit"It is unknown who was the president at the time of his vice presidency and that's why this article doesn't specify it. If only there was information going back that far."
