I gather several welsh schools celebrate T Llew Jones day on the 11th of October (or at least that was the date in 2013) - with fancy dress (based on his characters) I guess this might be an initiative from the welsh books council http://www.cllc.org.uk/gwasanaethau-services/plant-children/tllewjones

Correction needed edit

Jones was either a keen chess player well into the 1980s or his 80s, but I'm confident he wasn't still a player in his 1980s, as the article currently states. The Welsh article doesn't have this section, which is a bit fluffy anyway, as most of the article is unreferenced. I'm going to remove this section pending any concrete information. -- Shimmin Beg (talk) 11:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I knew him personally. We were both members of Cardigan Chess Club in the early 1980s, the only difference being that he was an Honorary Life Member (the only one, by acclamation) and I had to pay a subscription. I moved away in 1984, and lost touch. Philip Trueman (talk) 11:16, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
