Expansion to 18 teams as of 2016 is official
editAs per this article - http://www.rugby.com.au/superrugby/News/Article/tabid/959/ArticleID/14327/Japan-and-Argentina-officially-join-Super-Rugby.aspx The current Wikipedia article mentions that there are talks of expansion, but it's official signed and agreed. Can someone please update accordingly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.181.30 (talk) 04:13, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Broadcast in 41 countries (2006 figure)
edit"Matches are now broadcast in 41 countries.[1]" Isn/t it time to cite a more recent reference, esp if using 'now'? wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 07:21, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Changes to past winners tables (again)
editSuper 10 winners have found a way back onto the article, now that there is an official Super Rugby website that does not mention Super 10 results but only 1996 onwards as Super Rugby and hence why Super 10 has its own article, if there's no objection I'll remove them. --sss333 (talk) 04:38, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
SA teams'stadiums
editThere seem to be a few issues with the stadiums listed for SA teams.
I agree with the Bulls having Orlando Stadium listed, as they have hosted matches there. The Cheetahs have played at Free State Stadium, and Hoffe Park Stadium, but have not hosted a match at Peter Mokaba Stadium. They have however hosted a match at North West Stadium. The Lions have never hosted a match at FNB Stadium or Mbombela Stadium. The Sharks have not hosted a match at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The Stormers have played at Cape Town Stadium, but only as an away team, they have not hosted a match there.
I propose that changes be made to reflect this, unless someone presents a case which shows otherwise Crazydude22 (talk) 10:14, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Overuse of National flags
editWhy do we need to have the national flag of each team on each and every list in this article? It seems like total overkill. The "Current Franchise" list clearly details where each franchise is from so why does the flag need to precede each team on each list? I propose to delete all national flags with the exception of the "Current franchise" list as they are not necessary. Any issues? Anderch (talk) 03:29, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- I think that it is useful at times having those flags. For example, you can quickly look at the "Champions" section and see that South African teams won the competition three times. So I think there's some benefit there. But there's no point in having flags in the "Conference Winners" section, since each column represents a different country, so all flags would be the same. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 10:47, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- I somewhat agree with you however I thinking that the Champions table should be sortable and if this is the case then the flags would have to go and maybe replaced with a "Winning Country" Column. In any case the team list is just above it and it take two seconds to look also if you go to the teams page all info is there too. The flags are largely superfluous on this page because ultimately it is a club competition not a country or international competition, so if anything club logos should be displayed not country flags. Anderch (talk) 06:32, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
- Have commenced removing unnecessary flags as of 10 April 2014. Anderch (talk) 02:25, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Table ranking on tied points
editThe article does not say how teams are ranked when they are tied on points. This is taken from the superxv.com site:
In the event of two or more teams being equal on competition points for any position on either the Conference or Super Rugby Standings tables, either during or at the end of the season, such position will be decided upon using the following steps until the tie is broken:
(a) Most wins from all matches;
(b) Highest aggregate points difference from all matches;
(c) Most tries from all matches;
(d) Highest aggregate difference of total tries for versus tries scored against from all matches;
(e) Coin toss.
The following table is taken from the this site after the games played on 4 April 2014.
Team | P | W | L | D | B | PF | PA | PD | Bp | Ttl | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4 | Lions | 6 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 157 | 148 | 9 | 0 | 16 |
5 | Waratahs | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 140 | 94 | 46 | 4 | 16 |
6 | Bulls | 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 145 | 138 | 7 | 2 | 16 |
7 | Blues | 7 | 3 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 193 | 198 | -5 | 4 | 16 |

- You are right but is this level of information necessary? You could add a brief sentence about in in the format section and refer people to the super rugby web page for more detail but this much detail is not needed here. Anderch (talk) 20:16, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
- That information is already on the season article pages, eg. on 2014 Super Rugby season, just below the log in the "Legend and Competition rules" table. It doesn't really make sense to have in on this article, when there isn't actually any standings on this page. I I agree with Anderch, it's an overkill on this page. New Champions Table
editI have come up with a modified Champions table from the one that is on the main page that contains a little bit more information and also is now sortable. This has meant columns have changed but all existing info is still there. I debate whether on not it is necessary to have "losing semi finalists" in a champions table as to me this doesn't make sense but I have left them in. If no one has any issues I will replace the table on the main page with this one. Anderch (talk) 01:22, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
- I think it looks better. I've made a few changes as per the Manual of Style -- including minor things like capitalisation, and tried to ensure it has better access to those with screen readers (as per WP:ACCESS). I've listed the table below. I'd be happy for you to boldly replace the current table with this one.
This page has reverted to a very old version
editHas anyone noticed how this page has reverted to a very old version? eg about three months old. Can anyone explain why or how this has happened? I can't see any changes in the history page. Can it be changed back?? Anderch (talk) 07:42, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Salary Cap

Cats and the Lions as former franchises?
editIs there a need to list both names in the list? It seems redundant, since it's just a name change. The club was known as the Lions before changing to the Cats; by that logic, should the Lions be listed twice? —C.Fred (talk) 19:42, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think it should personally be included here somewhere, although I would also be happy with a hatnote stating that between certain years they were known as the Cats. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 17:48, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
