Character owned by Comedy Central?

edit

On Wednesday, July 27, Colbert stated on his live show during the Democratic National Convention that "corporate lawyers" protested his use of his old character the previous week. He offered an off-brand version of the character and a "Werd" segment. May be worth noting in the history of the character, as it (supposedly) won't be revived again. 108.232.5.225 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:51, 28 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Is this really? Aren't CBS and Viacom both owned by the same parent corp? seems like shtick for the show73.167.60.61 (talk) 01:20, 29 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Needs info for "The Werd" for March 20, 2017

edit

This other Stephen Colbert came back to The Late Show on March 20, 2017, and he was talking about Trump's budget plan for 2018. It needs more info, as I don't have the time to include the info for yesterday's show. Can someone else add the info for Stephen Colbert (this one) for the March 20th episode of The Late Show, as he was there? Thanks. Jonathan7157 (talk) 14:02, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Technically, if we are going to use the YouTube video you posted as a link (not the best citation), Stephen Colbert (CBS) introduces Stephen Colbert (pundit), who says he is NOT the same Stephen Colbert as the Colbert Report. Probably a joke, but then again this is a fictional character - so since we are basing all information on what is provided (as it is fiction), then this is not the same Colbert as before. I'm wondering if this has to do with rights for the character? I see him walk out with the Captain America shield, which is obviously a call-back to the Colbert Report - but is there any confirmation, or a published article, about this? That would suffice. However, the Colbert in the January 19th episode was also not legally the same Colbert, but was listed anyway. I think this means March 20 should be his latest appearance, but I won't make any changes. Alexschmidt711 (talk) 02:44, 25 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
