This hasn't been added to Wikipedia:Requested_moves#14_July_2005, so it is difficult to know the reason for the suggested move. A google search suggests that 'Spinning Jenny' is frequently capitalised, although the article itself doesn't appear to realise this. -- Solipsist 06:18, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

dates

Some of the dates in the article don't seem to make sense. "...Hargreaves applied for a patent on the jenny in July 1859." and in the next paragraph "...Hargreaves' death on 22 April 1778." I was trying to use the page for homework but I don't know what dates are correct. It was probably just a typo, maybe someone should look it up. How do you fix the mis-capitalization on the main title? Notice its "Spinning jenny" when it should be "Spinning Jenny"

I have reverted multiple well meant edits- but each needs a clarification

Article is in British English- about a British topic- neighbour not neighbor (sic)

Article uses Harvnb references- this should be maintained.

Reference Friedel 2007 no ISBN no page numbers

His- rather than her- Saxony wheel operating was a female task, but the mule in a mill became a male task.

Blackburn is now a industrial town- if the source uses the term city, it draws doubt on its scholarship, ringing alarm bells. In the UK, city is a very specific term

It should also be noted that this entire operation was hand powered- superfluous, anyway should be operations

Removing a reference

At the time .... weak yarn- looks like a cut and paste and thus a COPYVIO. These needs to be checked before it can be inserted

The operation of the machine was very similar to the spinning wheel, and home spinners were able to adapt to the machine quickly- tosh. Written by an observer that had done neither.

If the author feels that Shipley or Peel, is significant to add than they need to be wikilinked.

There is still work to be done on the reception of the jenny- that needs to be a separate section as mentioned in Fabihumanities post. Before trying to post to a mature if flawed textile history article one needs to carefully read the 19th century secondary sources . Since then there has been a whole series of romantic reinterpretation of the facts, as the topic has been embroidered for primary school history courses in every English speaking country.--ClemRutter (talk) 10:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Was it Hargreaves?

James Hargreaves is attributed to be the inventor of the Jenny, but the Thomas Highs and Sir Richard Arkwright pages both attribute this to Highs.
